Very well than, with your permission we wish to send a small task force of no more than 20 men to Paris to track down and deport Juan Ezcurra back to Argentina for trial. Our small force will be discreet of their operation in public, dressing as common civilians but will carry Argentinian Military identification cards with them at all times.

To Chile
The unification of our lands would be a most glorious event for the Party.

To USA
To withdraw from the occupied territory of Paraguay would be irresponsible on our part and would only cause more chaos. We shall however begin instiuiting reforms in the occupied territory of the democratic and economic nature, and in ten years time we will consider returning Paraguay to a soverign state. Until that time we would prefer to remain inside Paraguay to prevent civil unrest, disorder, and to protect the citizens.

What forceful deportation? Could you please point out any of my words that hint at the possibility of forceful departation?

And polar bears have a space base. They could always strike at Africa from there.
A space base?

Controversy erupts over President's pledge for 2 Tier Healthcare

The minute after President Gilles Duceppe uttered the phrase 2 Tier healthcare during his Independence Day Speech, controversy erupted. Everybody except for Duceppe and his top Advisors were caught off guard by this, and the condemnations and outrage has been building ever since. Duceppe's Liberals have come under stining attacks and rebuke by all sides, the Conservatives being the lone voice demanding that they go through with their pledge, and ignore the left, and the left, the Socialists and Communists, viciously attacking Duceppe for the "erosion of Medicare as Quebecers know it". The Socialists have launched vicious attacks on the Radio and TV, roundly condemning the Liberals and Duceppe for this "catastrophe", as they see it. 16 Liberal MNAs have defected from the Liberals, 15 of them joining the Socialists, one joining the Communists, and more threaten to. Under the Constitution, Duceppe will remain President for 1 more year, until his term ends, but the last year might be when he cannot get anything done, if the Socialists gain control of the National Assembly. Duceppe has set off a firestorm, and he is being roundly condemned by everybody, including many members of his Liberal Party. His announcements about Education, Immigration, and La Francophonie are being majorly overshadowed by this announcement, and it looks like Duceppe's career has come to a screeching halt. The Liberals dropped by 12% in the polls immediately, with 9 of that going to the Socialists, and 3 to the Communists. Polls done show over 2/3rds of Quebecers want a fully-funded Universal Public Healthcare system, with no private clinics, and yet Duceppe refuses to back down. The Liberals are currently at 41% in the polls, and have yet to reach bottom. The Socialists are at 30%, a record for them in the past 8 years. The Communists are also at a record 22%, and the Conservatives and other smallewr parties have a mere 7%. With more then a year to go, it seems that the Socialists will win, or at least enough for a joint Socialist-Communist coalition. The Liberals, it seems, have little to no chance of being elected next election.

Critics herald other parts of Duceppe's Speech on Education, Immigration, Economy

The news is not all bad for Duceppe, however. Critics are heralding his proposals and pledges for Education, Immigration, the Economy, Police, and Defense. The Government did launch a new campaign to lure even more businesses and Foreign Investors to Quebec, heralding Quebec as a stable, wise choice for investment, with a healthy, robust economy, low business taxes that the Governemnt will make even lower, a world-class business loan program, and a generally good place to come and do business. Business Leaders across Quebec have been calling this campaign exactly what is needed to raise Quebec's economy even further, but there are some problems onm the horizon. Workers in Quebec are in demand, and with the unemployment rate at all time lows, there are sometimes not enough Quebecers to fill enough jobs. The Government has changed the Immigration System to try and deal with this, making it simpler and easier for those whom are qualified to come into the country and work, and has launched a campaign in several countries heralding Quebec as a safe, secure nation with a good economy, good paying jobs, and a nice place to live. This also might set off Quebec's declining population rate. Duceppe's Education Policies have also been called the cure for some of Quebec's Education Woes, with overcrowded Universities causing problems for young eager High School Graduates. Finally, Duceppe's Defense and Police proposals are gaining approval from experts, who say that a Nationalized Police Force will better protect Quebecers from Criminals and Terrorists alike, and an expanded Military will make it easier to patrol Quebec's land and water entry points, and thereby crack down on illegal entry into the country. There are those whom are opposed to the increased funding promised for the Military, saying that it will not help protect Quebec, that Quebec can only be protected from terror by not having an agressive Foreign Policy that is interventionalist and incites terror. Of course, Quebec has never had an interventionalist foreign policy. In NATO, Quebec is the resident Dove, and has been strongly against any kind of military action pretty much everywhere. Few expect that to change.

Socialists net well-known Business Leader as Finance Critic

images

Socialist Finance Critic Gerald Tremblay

The Socialist Party has made a major gain to their ranks, adding Gerald Tremblay as Finance Critic after he won a by-election, after a Socialist MNA stepped aside, stricken with Skin Cancer. Gerald Tremblay is former CEO of the Bank of Montreal, Magna International, an auto-parts giant based in Quebec City, and just stepped aside as Leader of the Quebec National Business Bureau. He is one of the most successful Businessmen in Quebec, if not the world, and brought the Bank of Montreal from the brink of bankruptcy to the biggest bank in Quebec, and one of the biggest in the World. Mr. Tremblay is a International Businessman who knows how Business works around the world, and he is set to become Minister of Finance if the Socialists win the next election, and he wins his Seat. He is widely respected in both the National and International Business Community, and is expected to keep Quebec's economy thundering along as its current pace if he becomes Minister of Finance. Tremblay, upon accepting the win, said that he "is not a politician who happens to be a businessman, but rather a businessman who happens to be a politician". He says that he accepted Cere's offer to run because he wants to ensure that Quebec's economic success continues.

Duceppe proposes Free French Lessons for all

images

Gilles Duceppe in the National Assembly laying out his proposal

Gilles Duceppe is set to go down in the History Books as the President who not only made Quebec an International Powerhouse economically, but also as the politician who has done the most to preserve and enhance Quebec and French Language and Culture. Duceppe today announced plans to offer French Lessons for free to all Quebec citizens, and to all immigrants. The program will not come into place quite yet, he says, because of a lack of money in the Education system for the project, but will be in place within a couple years. Critics are saying that this will ensure that everybody can know the official language of Quebec, and are suggesting that this be proposed to La Francophonie as well. Duceppe says "wait and see".

One space base assigned to the specific task of monitoring Africa and blowing up whatever seems wrong. One very big space base.

With lots of others ready to replace or assist it further away from the orbit.

We must politely ask that you withdraw from Paraguay and immediately begin elections to bring to power a Republican Government. 10 Years is too long a period of time...

From Argentina
To Brazil
We find it laughable that you want us to withdraw from Paraguay while you control lands that rightfully belong to Argentina. As we have already stated, we have no intentions of withdrawing, though we are rapidly planning out elections to give the people of Paraguay representation in our government, as well as forming a state government over the region. With mutual culture, religious, and historical demographics we see no reason that this union can not be plausible. However, we shall hold elections in two years. Upon the ballot shall be representatives for the national assembly, offices for a state government, and the option of forming a soverign nation or remaining a state of Argentina. We realize the fact that Argentina is no longer a weak nation threatens you, and that this is the true reason you oppose the union of Paraguay and Argentina.

To France
We thank you for this intelligence and are sending a task force immediately. We have no intentions of causing damage or a public scence, but should anything be damaged we will gladly reimburse you.

White - well, actually bronze, sun-tanned like Greek gods - soldiers marched across the border. That was tradition as well as safety - albeit Rhodesians never did invade South Africa... the black insurgents only took power there sixteen years ago. Books, films, pamplets, songs - all in South African culture was somehow related to the myth of The Invasion. It was felt inevitable that the Rhodesian savages would one day cross the border, with their terrifying warcries, and in human wave attacks they will try to conquer what was theirs. Long, long ago.

Every South African was ready. These soldiers were patrolling the border, they always were. It was a closed border... up until now.

Himself, Paul Vranje didn't mind the existance of Rhodesia as a nation - he didn't give a damn about, quite frankly, and about other black nations. He simply wanted South Africa to remain white. He didn't want any of those dirty, poor, uneducated blacks in South Africa. Who cares if their ancestors lived here once? What mattered is those who lived there now.

So now, a treaty was signed for one-year open border with Rhodesia. Troops were still there - it was a good opportunity for Rhodesia to invade, so South Africans defended. Most of those troops already fought in Angola - there, Mandelist insurgents still appeared time and again. Luckily, Bloody Mandela himself was caught and executted by a firing squad recently. But the movement lived on.

Paul Vranje sighed. South Africa was on the defensive. But as long as there were people in it who believed in the South African Dream, it would hold out.

But it would also need to find allies. Yet where?

The only place for news in the nation

"Hello and welcome to ANC early evening news with me, Henry Davis. Today, parliament debated for four hours on the future of the nation's military, the enquiery into the Sydney subway crash reports that it was "an avoidable incident" as poor quality construction was to balme, the New Guinea tourist industry reprts a record number of visitors for the third year running and in sport, Queesland defeated New Zealand with 217-7 winning this years cricket season."

"Back to our main story, the debate on the future of the military took a new direction today with the ASP (Austrilasian Socialist Party) backing the Liberals in their calls for a reduction in military spending. This is a major blow for the Conservative government as until now they have been able to hold of the Liberal's calls for a shake up of the military. But with the ASP joining sides with the liberals there is no clear majority for either side of the debate. Now over to Cara LeLou in Australiasia City, with more details..."

"Thank you Henry, the four hour debate on the military show some of the major weaknesses in the current government, as the Conservatives do not have a clear majority, only holding 43% of all seats. As the debate looks more and more likely to go to a parliamenty vote, the two sides of the debate do not look like they will move. The Consevatives attempting to hold the nations military spending at current levels while the Liberals, and now the ASP, requesting that less is spent on military and more on other sectors, such as healthcare and education, back to the studio."

"On to other news..."

(oc) Hey ModSilver2039, don't you think the superpower of Russia deserves more then a seven income? It's the same net income as two-three lousy nations in the Middle East... if you want Russia to remain a superpower for more then half a dozen rounds without tons of land being the only soon-to-be difference from the rest of the world (due to the inherited flaws of economic systems in most NES's) then it would work out really fine (I think) if you could give the different Russian areas seperate incomes.

The only essential difference between the current Democratic Russian Empire and shaay Sweden is a large military a few stat. differences (mostly the same) and two-three years of economic growth.

Still, this is a wonderful game, I only hope changes will be made at the Mod's grace. ;) *smirk*

If not and I hypothetically invaded Armenia (I wouldn't do that, they're pro-Russian and Christian) would I have to integrate their stat's or could I use them as a seperate nation without a military to grow money through economic growth as they could easily if they were free? And if not then may I at least shaaay turn the core-Russian areas into a seperate economic zone (much more potential for growth) to represent the grandiose size and potential of the Russian Empire?

In other words... LET THERE BE GOLD! YAAAAAAAARRR!
(oc) Not to spam, but does anyone around here know the release date for 'Pirates of the Carribean 2/other fancy title'?
----------------------------------------------
Actually to be serious, I need to summarize this...

Without multiple incomes for Russia (I think the 7 income should just be it's core area) the 'Democratic Empire' is nothing but a glorified windmill, a modern nationstate with a minutely stronger economy, lots of shortfalls and a huge military that other nations can catch up with in one turn if they really want too. This in turn will force any Russian player interested in retaining his super-power status to overrun X number of small nations and suck out their seperate economies to keep things runnings or ask the Mod for 'special economic zones'.

OOC: I was kind of hoping for the same thing..... but didn't ask ;)

Yeaaah... ;)

The current economic system would work if Russia's income was 80 while France's is 30 and well... it'd take a proper long time to catch up unless something big happened. It'd still be flawed though.
We should have some sort of system based on per capita income and population + exports - imports.

There is no way I am going to create a new economic system. Unless you have some way it could be easily done and implemented.
