Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Yes, but for most people the mobility of a laptop is kind of important. I'd love to have a desktop, but the truth is I need the laptop at this point in my life, and having the two computers just isn't a feasible approach.

And at some point, you have to consider WHAT they're sacrificing. The sacrifice to go down from only a six months old laptop to a two years old one is mostly in terms of a slowly development of graphic capability. The sacrifice from that down to tablet is much larger, and down to cellphones even more so.

But if tablets ever reach the point where their popularity is enormous and the sacrifice required to include them in the audience is not so big, yes, I'd fully expect - and support - companies deciding to make the game tablet-functional.

I'm sure this would make a great discussion for another thread, but let's keep this to Skyrim?

Wow... just wow... can't we just discuss the game? Are you seriously saying that the video wasn't awesome? The game is the same as Oblivion, just with graphical improvements? Seriously? Not worth your money?

I'm sorry, but there are very little graphical improvement. That's one of the last things (if at all), that is "appealing" about Skyrim. That is the last "selling point" about it. If you listened to what they were saying, or watched what they have done about the game at all, you'd understand that they worked hard trying to make a good game, improve on their fails of the past. The last thing they're trying to sell, is "hey look at the pretty graphics". The least of what most of good previewers were focusing on is pretty graphics.

I expect it to be a good game and have preordered it. I still can't see that much improvements in actual gameplay compared to Oblivion which after all is a 5 years old game. I'm fine with "the new Oblivion" with worst problems (monster leveling, horrible inventory etc.) fixed though.

That's not even a "if" situation. Something of that nature will happen, clearly desktop computers are on the way out for the common folk. And if the next overwhelmingly present CPU technology is indeed tablets, will the major game companies make their games "tablet functional"... or will they simply make them for tablets primarily in the first place?

I guess it's bound to happen in the days before release when we're getting hectic and every info that had to be put out before release has been put out already. Woohoo, excited. Yay. Hey Skyrim's coming out soon have you heard? Man those Dunmer look weird.

If someone makes a new thread and it's not in AOG, can someone post the link here?

I don't see why not although really it's a can of worms subject.

On topic; I'd like to thank Bethesda for having the decency to release their game on a Friday instead of being cruel and releasing it on a Monday or Tuesday.

Is there any reason whatsoever why most games are released on Mondays or Tuesdays?

Although the universe conspires against me: I have to go see my family on the 11th. Not that I mind, but Skyrim will be my #1 priority when I get it... and a computer that can play it.

Isn't it November 11th everywhere in the world for every platform?
edit: unless you guys were talking about release dates in general and not Skyrim in particular :crazyeye:

Yes to both. :p

Sorry, my bad. It seems the 11th will be a friday here... which also is a day when a comic-convention will start. :( Bad timing, man.

Well, the good things are that it is better than Oblivion's intro, and most importantly of all finally your character creation section will be well light instead of half in the dark! Armour, faces and people in general are much better done too. The combat is slightly better, although most just because of the finishing moves. The dragon looks cool too, even though it is scripted. The running water is a big improvement :)

Definitely will be looking forward to a high res texture mod, inventory UI mod, and combat mods though, again.

Skyrim first 20 minutes. This is fresh stuff I guess, and possibly spoils.

I was gonna watch it but I stopped. I guess if I won't spoil any of it, especially considering this is one of the few games I will buy full price this year :P

Yeah, next time don't look at October :)

Um... dates are the same everywhere on Earth. Are you still using the Julian calendar or something?

Then do search engines not work on your computer?
