Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

It's an excellent game and quite humorous at times. My daughter couldn't understand why I was running from the giant (I was 2nd level). She kept telling me to fight it. She's only 4.5 years old. She also likes it better when I'm outside fighting monsters, rather then inside talking to people. Hehe.

Whenever someone walks in on me playing games, I'm in one of the most boring scenarios imaginable. I don't get it.

Methos, you could save and try to fight the giant. The moment you'd be sent blasting off again, Team Rocket style, she'd understand why it was a bad idea to try to fight the giants and also get a good laugh at your failure.

haha, yeah best to run from the giants. They are quite easy at my level (50), but in the beginning I never got close to them.

I finally gave up on a follower. Followers are just too much a pain with this engine. I never care for them in Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Skyrim. I did use them in Fallout New Vegas, but even there they could be a pain (they help make up for it with more personality). If you are playing a sneaking character, best to go at it alone I think.

luckily I don't have people walking in on me playing games. That would be awkward during the Witcher 2 during the sex scenes.

Video I just made, it proves that, at least in Illusion spells, the Expert level ones are better than the Master level ones. As if the time it takes to cast the Master level ones wasn't enough, I just demonstrated that there are enemies that even with the Master level Calm spell can't affect but the Expert level one they can.

I'm finally starting to get the hang of being a mage. That Destruction perk that makes people flinch really makes fights much easier. You really do have to move on from your other spells. I'll begin ratcheting up the difficulty, especially with my Conjuration and follower helping out.

Once you get a Dremora Lord its a laugh.

Not sure I like followers that use melee attacks though. I'll only end up burning them, especially in cramped spaces.

Is this game worth getting now, or should I wait for a discounted price on Steam/more patches? I have a comp that barely meets the minimum requirements, but I don't want to get the game for 360 since I heard modding can only be done for the PC version.

If your PC can handle it, get the PC version. If you don't, this would be what you could left out. :p

I'm having a lot of fun with the game, I probably have more than 120 hours played in two different saves and there's still a lot of things I did not do, so if you can afford to get it now, I'd advise you to do so. ;)

Geddit. Excellent fun experience. Best new game I've played in a very long time. Just don't buy it right before finals, terrible idea!

It's a shinier Oblivion, so if that's what you enjoyed, then get it.

It took a 137 hours, but I have finally finished the game. I reached level 50 and got all the achievements (that last dragon soul was proving elusive as the dragons kept flying away). That ancient dragon chomped me a couple of times too (insta kill).

Overall I love the game, but the crash bugs and graphical bugs are numerous. I'm not sure how much of that is my video card. Like near the end of the main quest sometimes I could see the fog, sometimes I couldn't. I also seen a dragon fly backwards. 3 hard lockups in one day (2 days ago) requiring computer reboots. More than 20 crashes to desktop. Yet I still love the game. Go figure.

I still prefer Bioware games in some ways. I still like Dragon Age over this game. I just wish Bioware would learn from these guys and create a world that isn't so closed and linear. You can't have everything I guess.

To me it's nothing like Oblivion. Fixing skill system (in Oblivion messy nightmare, in Skyrim clear and very functional) and monster leveling (in Oblivion, game breaking turd, in Skyrim hardly noticeable) alone do make it a much better game. It looks much better too. It's a very good game even when combat is quite simple and repetitive. I wish they would introduce new spells as DLC.

Yeah, I ran into some giant at a shrine on the big mountainl who decided to launch operation "Run after my character" (from afar, too).

It went something like this.

"Hey, look, a living thing over there."
"Wait, it's detected me and is charging at me"
"Shoot shoot shoot sh...wait, it's nowhere near me yet, and already this big..."
"...and the ground is trembling...RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN"
"Turn back later...still there! AHHH SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT..."
"Wow, Skyrim sure is pretty from this high up."
"Plop."

What kind of dumbass uses fire spells on a dark elf? That's almost as bad as using frost on a Nord.

:p
