SLNES I: Masters of Ethereal

How about seasons? Though, that's probably slow too.

Also, the map looks great.

I was kind of thinking we go by season.

Shoulda gone with my first instinct. :p

Then can someone give me some advice? Are my movement speeds to slow for 1 turn? Should I increase the scale of the map, or...?

Keep in mind units will move very fast within borders. So I feel like the movement times might be okay. Because moving outside of your borders would take longer... and exploring new lands would take longer.

If you want some advice, I suggest that you read up on some of the older ImmacuNES :p

Thanks Thomas. Sorry. It is the first time I have run a NES (like this). OKAY here we go:

Spoiler :
Calendar

Turns last for one season.

Year 1

Winter (Turn 1)
Month 1: Komia
Month 2: Nyun
Month 3: Dorami

Spring (Turn 2)
Month 4: Jondra
Month 5: Chorendy
Month 6: Quanlen

Summer (Turn 3)
Month 7: Avalor
Month 8: Horam
Month 9: Lorsen

Fall (Turn 4)
Month 10: Fyadock
Month 11: Byranon
Month 12: Agamen

Year 2

And so on.

Unit Movement

I am not specifying movement because movement depends on several factors:

1. Whether or not your movement is within your kingdom.

2. How many supplies your units have. More supplies would probably make them more efficient. Less would make them travel faster. Also, heavier units may take more time.

3. How many units are moving together. Obviously more units moving together will result in slower movement speed.

I don't specify because I feel there are many factors involved. If you run into a heavily fortified castle while moving, it will make your movement slow. If monsters are bogging you down, it will make your movement slow. And so on.

You can tell me where you want your unit to go, and don't worry - in the update I will tell you where your units ended up.

Typically, medieval soldiers were able to march 100km in 4-5 days. Keep that in mind. Since each turn is a season, your units can pretty much move anywhere on the map in 1 turn in fully explored terrain (if unimpeded). However, it is easy for your troops to get bogged down. Think of terrain, climate, monsters, NPC entities, and so on. So the likelihood of you actually getting anywhere on the map, if it is far from your kingdom, may realistically be quite small. Also, If you are going to war or entering an enemy's terrain, your movement would slow down considerably.

1 turn = 1 season. Please read Movement rules carefully.

I want it much more simplified (no offense to Immaculate... that NES seems amazingly epic). Though one point in there that I like is that if your army is with other slow units, then the army itself becomes slowed down (which of course makes sense). I actually mentioned that in my rules.

A season sounds good. But from what i can tell, I think the world is too small, but then that might be influenced by me playing too many IOTs recently. Not sure how big maps usually are in NESes.

I think that for Gameplay balancing (although, again, this might not be important to NESers) you could cut it in half so that instead of crossing the map theoretically in one turn, it could be in like 2 turns. Of course, we could just wait and see how things will turn out, and if it turns out to need improvement, you could consider changes then.

Well, 200 KM isn't anything to shrug off and most of the map hasn't been revealed.

@Starlife

I had an interesting idea of having an advisory group of non-players for John Faraday. Just wondering if that would be alright.

As I mentioned in the rules, even though theoretically you can move that distance, the probability of you actually doing so is extremely small. So many factors will contribute to delay.

Of course. Any characters you wish to introduce in your stories are welcome.

I have made a change to the rules. It isn't important for any of you right now, but just wanted to let you know:

All towns now generate 25 gold per turn, no matter their size. The size is actually 1,000-10,000 people, and really this is just fluff and can be decided by you. You don't have to list what towns you have in your profile, and you can designate their races based on the terrain they are located in within and how you want to write your stories. They can't generate military units at all.

Cities are still unique in terms of size and thus income (and name and race).

Don't worry. When we start Turn 1, more of the fog will be revealed around Citadels and mana nodes and NPC settlements will show up.
My claim was "the center of the plains". I don't know where are the plains on the map,so just put me there.

Clan-union "Rage"(Wizard has no known name) / Northen Wolf

Just place me in mountains somewhere. If I could get green or dark green as color :P
