SLNES I: Masters of Ethereal

Wendell the Tall looked at his commanders. They seemed young to his magic-fed body, but so does nearly everyone except for fellow wizards and elves. Kines the Swift, Wrentas the Slight, 'Doughy' Dogardo and Sangos Sanomos are his Hurler Commanders. They have trained with their halflings in the throwing of stone and the slinging of pellets. They need no help, of course. Every respectable halfling is at least an expert at the flung rock: it is much more popular than the impossible-to-pull 'short-bows' the giants like to use. Although they are rather slow compared to other scouts, they are scouts nontheless. Warren the Wall was his hedgehog commander. Their mix of wicked halbards, long pikes and small halflings made them very useful for them when they lived in small villages and towns for defense. Now, they will be useful tool in a long march. Although Warren didn't know yet why they are marching south with Wrentas' Hurlers to the southern Ford and with a small army of diggers, he will soon find out.

Wendell raised his arms, and the halfling commanders filed out of his room. Orders given, he shines one of the last Horace Landing apples, pulled in a noseful of its spell: spicy with a hint of tranquil days by the lake and a light breeze, and took a bite.

Halflings Throwing Stones! Beware!

We are glad. I shall visit as soon as I am able and rabbit stew will be fine. It is a common myth, mostly perpetuated by humans, that elves cannot or do not eat meat. We eat meat just as all predators do, grass cannot keep an elf going any longer than it can a human or gnoll. It is the natural order of things for some animals to be prey and others to hunt. We could build a road to your kingdom to foster trade between our peoples if you wish.

To The Town North on the River of Peace
I speak and I hear. I am Wendell the Tall, Wizard of Marburg Fords. I am the leader of the Halfling Folk in on this river and a lover of nature. I wish to bring trade in the form of roads and bridges to the north where you live. Please name yourselves, and the area around you. I am a benevolent leader who will let you live along your lives, except in much greater peace and security. Speak, and I hear.

There is no reply. The silence from this city seems eerie and is unsettling to many Halflings in the valley.

A road would be quite acceptable. When you arrive, you will be met by the tribal elders, who serve under my rule. They are all eager to make your acquaintance and I am sure we have much to discuss.

Our forest. Our river. You may stay. For now.

"There it is." The man walked over to the tree and started to sing, while carefully caressing the roots of the sage of the forest. The Delilanore. This must surely be as old as the forest itself, and power emanated from the age old life. Hacking might be faster, but he would never forgive himself if he used violent means against something so peaceful.

"Agranote!" And the root snapped away from the tree, landing squarely in the hands of a second man. "What is it with you high elves? Just speak your spell and get what you want. Sing to the trees on your own time, not when we have such a crucial job." He then turned his back and walked back towards the horses.

"Cull! Come back here!" He stormed out of the clearing angrily, knowing this would not end well. Flames boiled up in his chest, and a lion roared in his chest at this outrageous breach of the rights of the forest!

"What are you going to do MN? Attack me? Now shut up and mount your steed so we can get to sephira quickly. It is a long journey." Not turning around he shouted these words over his shoulder, as if it was of little importance. But MN (Whose name was an abbreviation of some unknown true name. Nobody, including himself, knew what it stood for) rushed forward and arrived at Cull's horse just as he did.

"That was uncalled for. Dark magic used against its very source...do you WANT to get attacked by the Senes?" At the very mention of the guardians of this part of the forest MN looked shaken. They were seen as heroes by the High Elven castle he came from, but as devils by most Dark Elves.

Cull laughed and then said, "Let them come! I would love to see them match the fury of my sword. backbiter has never been defeated by any mortal creature!"

MN was just about to respond in kind as a massive explosion shook the ground. They both looked towards the source as they fell towards the ground, and they saw a vapor like substance descending from the heavens, then suddenly, a flash of light that left them painfully blinded for several minutes. When it was over, and their sight was returning, Cull stood and took charge. Hopping onto his Horse he told MN what to do.

With that the split up, one heading north along the road, pushing his mount as fast as it would go. The other man of the pair of scouts went south, towards the bend in the road that hid whatever had just appeared in this world. It was certainly no natural phenomenon. This was the wizarding activity that Arya had warned them about. He was coming.

The second rider took it slower, quieter, more carefully , searching for any magical trip wires that might be created by their new adversary. He, qithout sound, drew his GreatSword with its embedded hilt and shining blade that reached a good four feet away from his body. He also heaved a pike onto his right shoulder, ready to pierce anything that came close. A flash of movement caught his eye to his left, and he saw the same black vapor disappear into nothingness once again. Turning his horse slightly he stopped moving and used his sensitive ears to try and track any new movement.

His head cocked to one side, a hand raised to an ear as if he was intently listening to a whisper, he heard it. It was what he was looking for. He opened his eyes and was about to move towards the sound when something happened.

The figure appeared immediately in front of him, its face hidden underneath its helm just inches away from his own. His pike useless he dropped it.

"What do you want?" His voice barely a whisper, unable to muster anymore strength.

"Your death," Replied the dark figure quite simply. He then reached out with his hand and blades extended from each of his fingers into Cull's throat. The now limp body slumped off the horse, while the horse itself suffered a similar fate. The figure then raced out into the fast approaching storm of darkness in the distance, vanishing into Black vapor once again.

MN raced down the hill, seeing Sephira in the distance. he had held out this long, he could hold out a few more clicks. Every once in a while he would see a shadow of movement through the storm on either side of him, but when he looked, it was gone. The storm was hiding any secrets of the movement of his enemy. Rain fell from the sky, drops the size of apples, the wind buffeting his horse to one side or the other and forcing him to look away whenever he turned to the source of movement.

Now he was in a valley, about to follow the road around the bend in the road that circled around a particularly steep hill. Jumping over a puddle of water, the horse stopped abruptly, almost throwing off its rider.

"No! We have to go on! Ride! Ride before they catch-" His coaxing to move the horse was stopped short as he heard a howl from above. The vapor was peeling away from a spot high up on the slope, revealing a pack of Black furred wolves staring down at its newfound prey. A figure stood farther past, but upon further inspection, he disappeared into the storm, Black vapor once again. The his attention returned to the wolves as they leaped from their positions, launching upon him and his horse. MN waited until the last second, then jumped from his horse, condemning the creature to death, but saving his own life. Drawing his own sword, a slimmer one than Cull's that was far faster, he sliced open one of the wolves but was mortified to see it healing itself just as the second leaped upon him from behind. He leaned forward, flipping the wolf unto the ground, and stabbing it in the head with his master blade. It evaporated, and moved a few meters away before re-appearing and continuing its assault with its brothers.

Knowing he would soon be overwhelmed, he took out a horn and blew into it. It produced a single faint note, barely noticeable to anyone except High Elves, and the Senes themselves.

Leaping out of the way just in time to see 7 Senes leap from the woods to his left, attacking the wolves. The Senes ran like the wolves, on all fours, but they were mostly of elvish shape. but their whole bodies were disfigured, their minds cursed. They glowed a silvery blue, with an inner white light shining out of them. Wire like lines stretched over their bodies, part of their curse, making them look like zombies almost, although they moved much faster, with lightning quick reflexes, faster than any elf's. or wolves' for that matter.

Its leader continued up the slope, presumable going after the leader that was still hanging back. The other six fended off the wolves, although they still regenerated whenever killed or hurt. Still, the Senes steadily pushed them back until they were halfway up the slope. Sometime during the fight MN decided to grab his sword and the root, and run the rest of the way. Sephira couldnt be more than a click away. Sprinting, he started to travel around the hill, hearing the sounds of fighting behind him.

As soon as Sephira came back into sight, maybe 1000 meters away, MN saw him. He was standing calmly in the middle of the bridge that was between the foothills of the Demon Hills and the city of Sephira, the river of Dane flowing underneath him, blocking his path. MN walked forward slowly, keeping his 3 foot long sword at the ready, catching his breath and knowing he could not win this fight. If only Sephira would send out warriors to help.

"WHO ARE YOU?" MN screamed at the figure in pitch black armor that stood in his way. Cull was almost certainly dead because of him. the very thought nearly brought tears to his eyes. But no. he had to outlast this man.

"I am Reznos. But there is no need to tell me who you are, as very soon it wont matter to me that you even existed. You will be one among many that I have sent to an early grave. He raised his hand and sent a pillar of flame spiraling towards MN. Surprising himself, he instinctively muttered a counter spell to split the fire on either side of him, the responded in ind with a burst of blue fire, customary to an Elven archer that was still quite young. Blue fire was much more potent, but much harder to control, and often happened by accident when an elf didnt have full control over his powers. Reznos spun his sword and it absorbed the fire, and at that moment, MN knew he was faced with a power he had no hope of competing with. Another wall of flame spun towards him, this time pure black, and he was sure if he could see his opponents face he would see a smile disappearing and a grim set of determination come across his features.

MN moved aside and watched the fire move past and then he charged, swinging his sword at his adversary, although in retrospect it was more blind fury then the technique that he had been taught. It was easily parried, and he just managed to bring his sword up in time to block a slash from Reznos' deadly blade. Thrusting with all his power his sword was easily hit aside, and he nearly lost his grip.

Just when all hope was lost as reznos began a flurry of blows that made MN dizzy, and arrow struck Reznos in the right shoulder, his sword arm. Switching the sword to his left side, he sent flame towards the location in the forest that the arrow had come from, the turned back only to be met by the sword of the leader of the Senes. It went straight through his chest, and although he looked to be in excruciating pain, MN doubted that he was dead as he turned to Vapor and floated away into the storm.

With a nod of thanks towards the sene, he continued his all out sprint for the city in front of him. He was joined on his left by an elf shadowing his movements in the forest, holding a bow and arrow in his hands. MN assumed this was the man that had saved him, and pressed on with a surge of new strength. It was time for the Lady of sephira to be healed!

Dogardo suddenly looked up, eyes wide. Was... was there something touching his... mind? Then, before he can think further, all doubt faded as his spirit is entirely surrounded by another, stronger one. "I am Wendell..." it whispered, "Hear, and I speak."

"the Northern Village is mysterious, more to the point of no one to speak to my probe. When you scout to the north of the Burrows, skirt the edge of the town, and try to avoid too many villages. We want warning if they are hostile. At least they don't know where we are, uh?" He felt a slight glow of humor, then it turned back into business, "Remember, guard the citizens and then search for the bandits. Right, carry one."

Arya stood in the Krystal hallway , once again traveling through the Ether, this time looking to deliver messages to the castles of Elves to his South and East.

Peoples of the High Elves! I am Arya, newly arrived Wizard to your west. I wish to meet with you leaders, in order to discuss counter actions to a possible threat, who wishes not only to destroy us, but to destroy the forests as well! We cannot allow this to happen. We must meet, and UNITE! Together, High and Dark Elves side by side, we will be able to make a stand!

And:

Elves of the Forest, warlocks of the great Ether, witches of the forest, masters of magic, I am projecting my voice to your great castle today in order to give you an urgent warning: We are in danger. Not only elves, but all the races, even this world itself! the enemy that seeks such destruction is on his way, following me from my previous world. Alone, I stand no chance of stopping him, and we will surely perish. but together, TOGETHER, we can make a STAND! We can reject him from this world, making sure such an evil never reaches our gates! Together we must stand, or divided we will fall. I hope your leaders will agree to mett with me in the near future in order to discuss possible unification options...

OOC: Wow, arya. That was pretty epic. :)

From the east...

Greetings from Delai, Fortress of the Delaians and a sanctuary for our Guard. I am Vinelore, the last Noble of Delai. Strange things have been afoot in the forest as of late. We suspected it might be you. What have you done to our lands? Are you perverting our forest? Wolves have begun to attack us, wolves that we once tamed long ago. And every evening, a dark mist emerges from the opening near our sanctuary hall. The Delaian Guard see much, and we have seen that the day the Wizard found himself on our lands, strange things began to happen. Most disturbing of all, our most honored Highnon Stag has not been seen in several weeks.

We are suspicious of you, Dark Elf Wizard. We wish to know what you are hiding.

- Vinelore, Delaian Noble

The details of Castle #1 have been revealed to you.
Spoiler Fortress of Delai :
Fortress of Delai, ruled by Noble Vinelore
Elves
The Delaian Guard (-8 to Chainmail)
50 guards
Veteran (8)
Longbows (0)
Swords (8)
Chainmail (0)
Cost: 16 with 25% discount = 12 gold
Upkeep: 6 gold per turn
Conditions: Keep this unit or disband it, using free Chainmail trait to create a new unit type. If this unit type is disbanded, discount is void. You can only have 30 of these units at any given time.

The Delaian fortress contains a large Elvish sanctuary in which forest spirits and fairies are openly worshipped. Within this sanctuary flows a stream, and for many eras this stream has contained magical properties. Within the forest around Delai there roams a creature named the Highnon Stag. Its hide is snow-white and its horns tall. The Delaians have perfected the art of hunting this stag and extracting from it its leather, which is as strong as chainmail. The leather is remarkably tough, making the stag extremely difficult to hunt. Protecting Delai is the Delaian Guard, a group of Elves honored enough to be able to wear this rare hide.

From the south...

Arya. We are the council of nobles who have for a long, long time controlled the court of the Kyunia Woodkeep. We Kyunians are natural protectors of our woods, and we seek council from you, the wise Wizard. We wish to discuss the situation that you speak of.

The details of Castle #19 have been revealed to you.
Spoiler Kyunia Woodkeep :
Kyunia Woodkeep, ruled by a council of nobles
Dark Elves
Kyunian Nightpikes (-4 gold to pikes)
50 pikemen
Veteran (8)
Pikes (0)
Leather (2)
Skilled Magic (0 / 20)
Cost: 10 gold with 20% discount & 20% mana discount = 8 gold / 16 mana
Upkeep: 4 gold / 8 mana
Conditions: Keep or disband this unit to design your own free-pike Dark Elf unit. If disbanded, discount is void. You may only have 30 of this unit at any given time.

Kyunia is a strange place. It has a history of being under siege from forest bandits and strange folk and creatures. Specifically, the giant spider. Giant spiders are not always aggressive, but the Green-Bellied Dunaknid is. These spiders hunt in massive groups, and they have always had their eyes on Kyunia. That is why long ago, the nobles of Kyunia began to train pikemen and enchant their pikes with magic which would glow during the late hours and protect the guards from harm. These troops eventually became more respected throughout the Kyunia Woodkeep, and they developed a new name: Nightpikes. It is because of them that the Green-Bellied Dunaknids are no longer a threat to Kyunia or the surrounding region, but have been cornered into a small area of the forest.

Pervert our forest! NEVER! The forest is sacred! What is tainting these lands is the beginning of a much greater evil than you will ever consider me to be. His name is Tambien, and he commands vast reserves of Mana leeched from the misery of my homeworld. I do not know his plan, but I know his objective: to destroy everything, and enslave or kill every sentient being. We must stop him before it is too late. I am not as evil as you think. I have great respect for the High Elves of the forest, and I hope we can work together in order to stop these strange things. I can send one of my more powerful Wizard apprentices to help you solve these mysteries if you so wish, although I will not poush him upon you. It is very possible that you are already under siege by his forces that arrive every day. These wolves are called the Bloodhounds: They are led by the Bloodknights, the greatest commanders from my homeworld, turned to the side of tambien. Very few people can stand up to a bloodknight. I hope your stag is still well, and I will search for it with my scouts in the area in order to secure its safety if you so wish.

And the south:

You may know I, Arya, am not from this world. I am originally from a war torn land, a barren landscape controlled by a wizard that feeds of the misery of his subjects and through the destruction of nature itself. He despises forests, and he yields more Mana that i can hope to possess at this point in time, more than even all elves in Ethereal combined may possess. He commands Bloodknights, beings that can become Black vapor, and they control the Bloodhounds, bloodthirsty wolves the imitate the natural said wolves of the forests. His forces are already marshaling, practically sieging Delai to your Northwest, and they grow stronger by the day. our only hope is to merge your castle with our city in order to create a new Elven kingdom that can stand strong against even the staunchest of external threats! Ceros hopes we can count upon your assistance in such a task. we would be willing to finance a road to your city in the future, and to use our future military forces to help protect your lands if you would do the same with us.

EDIT: OOC: Thanks Starlife! But if you think thats epic, try reading Lighthearters' narratives in RealPolitik 1 and 2. I can provide links via VM if you wish to read them. That was just the tip of the iceberg of what him and I can do, although I consider it obvious that he is ultimately better than me due to his years of experience.

OOC: Sure, gimme those links. Just so all of you know, when I say, "The details of castle blahblahblah have been revealed to you", it means it has been revealed to everyone. Seeing eye and all. A complete list of castles can be found here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=10414826&postcount=11

Also, as we update and your kingdoms grow larger, I'd like a culture to develop (I think I've already said this). Using the stories and histories of the places you consume within your kingdom, a culture can eventually be forged. Eventually, after several updates, I would want to compile these cultures and put them on the main page to get a better sense of the kingdoms controlling Ethereal.

Well, starlife, I know we talked, and all, about my diplo being in orders... However, did I not also scout out that castle? (Do I not get the information about it?)

if necessary for that, I'll write something next teusday.

Here is what I said already:

Just so all of you know, when I say, "The details of castle blahblahblah have been revealed to you", it means it has been revealed to everyone.

And besides, your orders said you wanted to find out more about Castle 5, which no one has looked into yet.

Typically, orders and stories are both okay, or either/or. I know some people don't have time for stories because our schedules all fluctuate. Sometimes you might just want to send orders. That is totally fine. But you'll have to wait until an update to see results. The results won't be any less than if you were to write stories - they just aren't as immediate. When stories are written in this thread, I respond to them. So thomas, you don't have to write anything about it. Next update, I'll tell you what is happening with Castle 5, even if you don't say anything about it in this thread. Some players just have a little bit more time and want to check things out before writing their orders. Both styles are fine! :)

Starlife,

Are all the minor towns pretty much the same or are the developed in some way?
For example, theres that town to my east, what race is it? how receptive are they to joining us? trading us? etc?
Do we send diplo to little towns too?

Also, i send messengers to Choras and Sendra to see how receptive they are to trade and cooperation?

Basically,
"We are the Thuggee, craftsmen and merchants and we seek to enrich ourselves through trade and cooperation. Will you join us?"

Also, i send a diplomat to castle 10,
"We are the Thuggee. We are machinists and builders. Our contraptions and devices require metals for their construction and we seek a stable and constant supply of iron and other metals for our furnaces. Perhaps you can help us?"

All of that diplo is fine. Communicating with towns is rather optional. They will eventually be absorbed over time, much like mana nodes. Building roads to them is the most basic way of beginning to bring them into your kingdom. But remember... you have some gold and you can come up with interesting ways to spend it other than roads. If you communicate with them somehow, then I will tell you the race because I need to respond to that communication. If you don't, then you can make up the race. You can even make it up, post about it, and then ask me to respond or something. The race of towns doesn't make a difference. They are basically sources of 25 gold. Though I suppose look at what terrain they are on and come up with an educated guess about their race. If you want to involve them in stories, fine. I have already done some interesting asides with town communications through Terrance's stories. You can create something interesting about a town if you'd like, but it is not required or anything.

The reason I leave details of towns open is so that players can begin to form their own cultures and kingdoms and thus make up their own definitions of the smaller entities they are absorbing. Cities are in-between in that they already have a name and race, and then Castles are the other end of the spectrum - race, units, unique culture, and defenses. But all can be absorbed and contribute to your culture.

So in game terms: They are 25 gold. Smaller settlements. And they have absolutely 0 defenses, so they basically fall to you. However, if you try to capture a town really far away from your borders... that probably isn't wise for a plethora of reasons.

"If this threat is as grave as you say, you will need more beside you than two fortresses. Arya I would stand beside you against this Tambien. The elves of this land will stand united against any greater threat.

The Dark Elf wearing simple traveling clothes led a group of about twenty other Dark Elves into the unknown forest. His name was Drael, and he was the leader of this group, and indeed the thousands of other followers that remained in their camps nearby. They had come to this forest from their faraway homes, lured by the faint touch of magical power. Drael had become leader of these Dark Elves not by dint of any official authority, but by the simple fact he was the most powerful mage among them. Lacking any existing social structure, the elves had defaulted to their most basic instant for hierarchy based on magical ability.

Now, in this strange unknown forest, they had finally come close to the place that was calling them. In this part of the forest, it was more of swamp, and the group tried to keep to the higher dry ground, but Drael's pants were soaked in dirty, muddy water up to his knees. As he and his group of twenty moved deeper into the swampy woods, the sense of power they could feel grew stronger. Finally, the thick foliage parted to reveal a clearing and large white fortress made of large cut blocks of marble.

“Haru Gom,” Drael said softly, in astonishment. The words meant simply 'white fortress,' and for Drael it was surprising anyone could build a castle of such material here in the middle of a swamp. Surely it must be an attestation to the power of the one who was calling them here. Scouting around the outer walls of the fortress, the group found a large heavy gate on one side, open. Trying to sense what the entity within wanted, Drael felt they could enter.

The fortress was definitely meant for living, with the thick outer wall and inner courtyards and buildings, but there was no body here. There was also an inner fortress, with the same windowless walls of large cut stone. The inner keep had no towers or parapets for defense. There was however a closed door with handles made of bronze and as large as Drael's arm. Drael got a sense that only he should go towards the doors. He ordered the others to search the grounds of the bailey and outer walls, while he moved quietly towards the doors.

The door was surprisingly light and opened quietly with ease. An inner hallway led about twenty feet towards a large atrium, with other hallways leading off to the left and right. There were also balconies leaning out of other doors indicating more passages. There was a large arcane symbol of a magic Drael did not recognize inscribed into the floor, but other than that the room was devoid of decoration. Drael, feeling no push from the magic source, explored the hallways of the inner castle. They all seemed to be placed on the outer edges of the keep. There were occasional empty rooms of different sizes and shapes, but also no furniture or equipment. The only decoration were more of those strange arcane symbols on the inner walls of the hallways. There were no passages or doors further to the interior of the sanctum. There was no powerful entity to be found either.

Drael returned to the large atrium to ponder what to do next. Drael's best conclusion about the place's design and layout was that it seemed to be designed to keep something in, not out. The thought of this made the small hairs on the back of Drael's neck begin to tingle.

Do not fear. A voice range inside Drael's head. Drael knew instantly that this being reaching into his mind was the powerful entity he and his brothers and sisters had sought out. “I have heeded your call, master.” Drael said, and bowed in no particular direction.

This citadel is mine. Only those that I wish can come. I have allowed you into my citadel because you are the strongest, and therefore the first of my servants.

“I obey.” Drael said.

Excellent. The voice said. The others will need a place to live. But for you, I have a specific task. I want you to bring forth my special servants I will need.

In that instant, Drael's mind was filled with the knowledge of the spell and its “components.” It was a gruesome spell, even for a Dark Elf, but Drael did not think it particularly complicated.

The voice remained silent, so Drael realized he had been dismissed to his task. He exited the inner keep and returned to find his compatriots waiting for him. They left the white fortress with their tasks at hand.

We are overjoyed to hear such news! It is wonderful that such a powerful wizard, equal to my own powers, wishes to assist us. We shall make plans for a road to connect our two great citadels in order to foster better trade, relations, growth, and communication.

A envoy is sent to the City of Lydai with a message for the leader(s) of Lydai:

Greeting from the Elves of Haru Gom. We have found a great lord and protector who can protect all Elves from the enemies outside this forest. While our histories may be different, we are both Elven and have respect for the forest and similar values. Therefore, we wish to strengthen the bond between our two peoples.

This message is delivered by a council eagle:

The Council of Lydai has seen this 'White Fortress' and we know of the abomination to the natural world which your Wizard calls magick. We fear you bring darkness with you.

Several horses shrouded in darkness leave the city of Lydai and head south.

"He is coming." Arya replayed the words in his head over and over again. He could feel the darkness coming, both through the warnings he was getting through the Ether, and the massive storm that raged just outside his borders. He was using all his powers to prevent it from penetrating his lands and thus hurting his peoples, but it was still expanding, encompassing most of his border and continuing for many miles outwards. It was s storm like no other.

He noticed that Black vapor was traveling throughout his citadel as well. He knew that he was being spied upon. But without more mana he could not stop them. He was stretched to his limits as it was. He hadnt slept in a week, focusing every hour of every day countering the magic emanating from this magical storm.

Turning his head he saw a figure clad in black armor seem to come from the Black Vapor before his very eyes in the Krystal Hall. Instead of drawing his sword he launched his mind into the Ether, straight towards this newcomer. He had caused him no end of troubles, and now he would pay.

But then he was repulsed, blown from his feet straight into the wall behind him. He was dazed but had enough sense to shed his robes and get to his feet, just in time to mutter a counter spell to the flame spiraling towards him.

"REZNOS! ENOUGH!" He yelled at the figure, sending a beam of pure energy towards the man, striking him in the chest and returning the favor by blasting him off his feet. Arya then snapped his fingers, and he was clad in his own armor, made of enchanted Saphires, unbreakable by all but a sword enchanted by a spell known to but one other. Drawing his sword he walked over to the body in a heap, and pointed the great blade down so that the point drew blood from a spot in the mans neck.

"You cannot defeat him. You cannot win. Give up now, and my honorable lord shall grant you amnesty and power, so as to join me as a Bloodknight. Join me cousin, and together he will give us control of unbelievable power!" Removing Reznos's helm by magic, he saw the crazed look in his eyes, the eyes of a man corrupted by power. His cousin was his cousin no more.

"Carry my words back to your master Reznos. I will never join him. I shall eternally seek his defeat. I dare him to challenge me, instead of sending weaklings like you to try and do his dirty work." And with that he threw the man across the hall by magic, lighting up a wall of flame in his path. He burned, but the fire seemed to have no effect on him. He was on fire, but it was going into him, but not hurting him.

"You cannot hurt me. He has imbued me with his very essence. I cannot die. Soon, yoou shall learn just how dangerous six more like me can be." as if on cue, the beautiful windows on the sides and the ceiling of the hall imploded, shards flying everywhere, and the stone holding it all in place disintegrating into dust. Six figures flew into the room, trailing black vapor, and they became fully formed once standing on solid ground. Reznos stepped into rank with them, and the largest of them stepped forward brandishing his sword. the others flashed their blades as well, except one who used an enchanted spear crackling with electricity. The seven bloodknights had come together.

Arya felt fury coursing through his veins. they DARE to attack his very citadel, destroying the most peaceful, the most beautiful place for him on this side of the Nether Sphere? His whole body ignited in green fire as it consumed him, feeding on his very blood for power, his armor sparkling a greenish blue as he gave these intruders a very dangerous stare.

Arya raised a hand. Three of them went flying. He took a step forward, and another was pushed back, followed by a second step. This pattern continued, ignoring the leader who was also stepping forward, and he continued to send the Bloodknights flying as they kept returning, more and more batterred each time. Flames licked out from his body, attacking any that got too close. Sparks came from his sword, lightning from his fingertips, thunder clapped as he took each step. In the absence of his repulsive force, the dark storm at his borders started to inch closer to the Citadel.

He reached out with one hand, and a tsunami was created, ever expanding, washing away Reznos and a girl that had joined him as they tried to flank his side. Another step. he was a mere five paces from their leader now, who was covered by the largest helm of them all, carrying a mace in one hand and a greatsword in the other. His entire body was covered by 4 inch thick heavy metal plates, but he moved as if it was leather. He took a step forward and raised his mace, taking a swing at Arya.

Arya parried quickly and gave a thrust to test the defenses of his opponent. the greatsword flashed and his sword was knocked aside giving the BK an opening but his mace crumbled to dust with a wave of arya's hand. Arya then continued to kick him in the chins, disarm his sword, and push him to his knees, with his chin still held high under his helm. Arya then dropped his sword, and launched a powerful punch that left a fist sized dent in his helm causing him to fall over backwards, and letting arya turn his attention to the others. They seemed to be chanting, and he could see vapor coming from everywhere, combining with the clouds from the storm, all weaving into the armor of the Knights. They were flaoting in midair, their edges lined in the black vapor, and the approaching vapors encasing their armors, giving them more power.

Arya unleashed his rage, sending a shockwave towards them with a roar, only to see the wave dissipate a good ten feet from them. he changed tactics and sent another tsunami that swirled with flames and rock that was summoned from the interior of the planet, lava encasing the outside of this spiral of death magic. He reached out to the trees, asking them to send roots to entangle the enemy, only to watch all this spin away.

His head snapped to the right however when someone burst through the doors leading from the Inner Hall, seeing his the most powerful apprentice of the three he was training burst through, his sword in hand, Netheryl armor covering his entire body, magical wings growing from his back. he jumped into the air and flew towards the fluttering men and woman still growing in a web of power. Their leader had even joined them by now, chanting the loudest, entangled in the web of darkness above him.

Knowing he couldnt leave his apprentice to such a fate as gruesome as he was flying to, he jumped into the air, and with a few words, had all the control of a hawk in flight. He sent a few projectiles into the web above him, only to see them repulsed by an invisible barrier. he heard chanting a few feet to his left and saw his apprentice launch a spell at the barrier. Shockingly enough the barrier exploded, leaving a gap into which they flew, hacking at any Bloodknight that came close enough. There were parries however, and wave after wave of magic slammed into them. A voice came through the mist as well,

"Ah so I have found you Arya. I think it time you finally fell, and stopped being such a thorn in my side! An attack much more painful then a thorn was then launched into his mind, and he struggled to fend off Reznos's strikes and parry them, while at the same time fending off what seemed to be an assault from tambien himself. he looked into his mind, Arya barely able to keep him form the crucial secrets and memories, before he felt a mind of strength join with his own. His apprentice had joined power with him! With a surge of power and Mana, he stuck back, knowing with grim satisfaction that he had struck a terrible blow to his mortal enemy. But then with one final effort, tambien reached out and plucked a secret from his mind before he could counter the snake like strike. Images flashed through his mind as he saw what tambien had found. a silver egg, a blue one, and a green. A castle. The image flew out as if from a bird, and you could see the surrounding landscape. The city of sephira, the castle of Delai, a lake, and finally Ceros. Tambien then retreated from Arya's mind, as did his apprentice, and Arya focused on the remaining two Bloodknights. Knowing where the other five had gone, he shouted,

"Go! Go to the fortress of relica! Go, Athers, protect the eggs! Protect the Mana Core!" He shouted, hoping he had heard him through the nasty winds that buffeted them left and right. Apparently he did because he stopped mid swing and teleported with a flash of red light, hopefully towards the right place. That was the only thing he had trouble with, teleporting.

He himself was left with two bloodKnights. He recognized them both. Sir kevin and his mate, Laiin. Laiin was obviously more dangerous so he tried to glide ever so slightly around so he could take her out wuickly, but Sir kevin charged straight at him.

Feeling a wave of annoyance come over him, he summoned all the mana in his citadel and just unleashed it all upon him, disintegrating him into vapor, barely leaving him time to let out a scream. the vapor left in a whirlwind, flying towards the heavens.

He turned towards laiin, who was looking unsure of herself, her red hair flapping in the wind, and she knew she was wondering if she could take him on herself. he let go of his restraint and power went in all directions from him, like the wave of energy and flame from a nuclear blast, and focused it in her direction just as they began to be enveloped in a tornado. The winds swirled around him, giving him just enough visibility to see Laiin being pushed back but still fighting it. Arya then flew towards her, brandishing his own sword and he drove it right through her chest, muttering words of power the whole time. this time, instead of disintegrating into Black vapor, or turning to gold dust as she would if he was killed, he became a silvery substance. Muttering words even more intensely now, he seemed to melt down into his sword, being absorbed into the metal. her last words were,

"They are still alive..." then she completed melting and the sword glowed due to its new power gained. It now contained a bit of Tambien himself, and Arya then sheathed it. he then broke into chanting, and the storm started to move away, and the glass of the Krystal hall was beginning to be restored. he was met by his other two apprentices as he landed safely in his study...
