I'll be adding more details soon, like the way they grow with that cumbersome chitin armor, and how the separate hives will work if the Hivemother is still on Opterus, etc.
 
I'm working on an evolution story that should explain all of that, expect ti later today.
 
RACE NAME: What is NAME? We do not understand NAME. Amoeba, Jellies, strange transparent blobs and oh-my-god-it-just-tried-to-posses-me are all different things other sapient life-forms have used to describe them.

APPEARANCE: From a macroscopic level it can be anything, literally any life-form in existence just about. The 'pure' colonies appear as a giant seething mass of jelly or, if they are a slightly older and more developed colony, a armoured, roughly humanoid, creature. The armour consists of any hard minerals the colony has absorbed. At a microscopic level one sees cells. Billions of amoeba glued together, communicating via chemicals. You see the giant acid cannons, the vast vacuoles stuffed to the brim with anything and everything. The node cells that act as the nervous system and glue to keep the colonies together and the vast brain of them clustered roughly in the centre. The eyes that cover them and the hydraulic muscle cells that power the pseudopodia and weapons. This is but a handful of the hundreds, if not thousands, of different types of cell that make up one colony. A colony may infest another life-form and battle for control of its body against its immune system. If the immune system is overwhelmed and suppressed they proceed to the brain and highjack it by plugging themselves in to the brain using specialised axons. They also streamline the body and improve its genetic make-up using advanced genetic manipulation techniques.

CIVILIZATION NAME: Again what is the concept of NAME?

LOCATION: (A,C). The lone system at the end of a galactic arm.

CULTURE: Their culture is an alien one truly alien and almost impossible to put into words. Safe to say though that is is ancient and complex based around the many. Each colony consists billions of individuals so one is meaningless and a thousand insignificant. They also crave knowledge like a drug. DO NOT give them any new information unless you want a mass of crazed amoeba colonies crawling over your planets and infesting your people.

GOVERNMENT: The memory colonies as they are known control all the other colonies via chemical scent, co-coordinating movements etc and making sure the colonies do not over-hunt one source of food. Literally that is it.

DOMESTIC POLICY: They have no domestic policy seeing as they are all one and the same. Well not one and the same but they have a very, very highly developed hive mentality. Only the memory colonies have any sense of self or personality at all.

XENOPOLICY: None because they have yet to leave their planet. If you were to show them your space-faring technology they would become exceptionally hostile. Otherwise they would be quite friendly if they could break through the communication barrier.

PERSONAL NAMES: None

PLANET NAMES: None

STAR NAMES: None

SHIP NAMES: They do not currently have any method of space travel as all of their technology is organic and lacks the thrust to escape their planet's gravitational pull.

More like the nastiest antispetic you can find and an extremely long hypodermic syringe. Even colonies a few metres long are able to spit digestive enzymes up to five metres capable of dissolving any biological compound and any elements that break down upon contact with acid. It is reckoned they can survive in any environment, including space, if they have the correct minerals stored to form a shell around themselves. They are the most formidable foe in the galaxy but have the slight disadvantage of not being able to manufacture any inorganic technology they could not synthesise from natural materials. For example they can synthesise iron claws and titanium armour but no engines, no guns, beyond acid and natural harpoon-type stringers, nothing of that kind. To give you a sense of scale the seven largest and most important memory colonies are the size of New York and would completely envelop its skyline. The memory colonies are ancient however and defenceless by themselves because they are giant brains in effect. Massive computers to store and process information at light speed. The next largest colonies are the size of a good two or three storey family home. So don't allow them anywhere near your ships or else you will be annihilated, if they work out how to operate them.
 
evolution story of the bheriowans

its not just evolution, but also a brief history

Their home planet is called Aitorin. It was much like earth, and experienced most of the same basic evolutionary traits. Cells, to microbes, to fish, to amphibians, to lizards, to mammals. When the giant lizards roamed the planet (basically giant dinosaurs) the planet was mostly forest, grassland, and ocean. There is not as much water in the oceans as in earth, and the arctics were relatively small. Unfortunately the surrounding solar system was different than earth’s. There was another system which was made up of mainly gas giants and asteroids which co0llided with the bheriowan solar system. The entire system was pelted with asteroids, and some of the planets were stolen by the larger gas giants. Aitorin dodged the gas giants, but was mercilessly pounded by the asteroids, tearing a lot of holes in the atmosphere (or whatever it’s called). The resulting clmate change killed most of the warm weather plants, and the large reptiles, causing mammals to infest the planet. Luckily, there was a string of islands near the equator that were kept relatively warm by the warm water surrounding them. This caused the large six legged lizards that were native to the island to emerge as the dominant species. After the climate changes had ended, the planet was left with an excess of carbon dioxide because most of the plants had died. This created a major greenhouse effect, so the planet was replantified, not with the old plains and grassland, but mainly with jungles. Now that the waters around the islands were warmer, the reptiles migrated and slowly started to inhabit the entire planet. They ate most of the apes and larger mammals that inhabited the new jungles. The mammal’s evolutionary growth was greatly prohibited and the largest mammals are the size of spider monkeys. The six legged lizards eventually grew into a sentient species and adopted the caste system. The natural defense mechanism of standing up, now served as a way to create larger structures and use tools in different ways. The nations of Bheriowans were still separate, and warred with each other constantly. But because of the relatively cool ocean temperatures, the different continents were never really unified. Eventually, planes were invented, and with the power of flight the entire planet was swiftly conquered and ruled under the throne of Emperor Laessrign. The technology grew more and more advanced, but the last frontiers were never considered to be space, but deep underwater, and far to the north, where cold blooded creatures couldn’t naturally survive. After completely exploring their planet and developing advanced biotechnology to supplement the hindrance of being cold blooded they turned their eyes toward space. They developed ships that could explore their own solar system, and eventually found ways to explore their galaxy. Their technology is mainly biological, but they use ionic power for their ships and weapons.


more appearance stuff. they look like giant skinks. they run faster on the ground, but have really flexible vertabrae(backs) so they can bend back and stand on four legs, while using the upper two as hands. Because they have had a caste system for so long, the castes have their own smaller evolutions. for example, the scientists have an extra joint in their fingers for manipulating small parts, while the warriors have stronger scales, and hides like an alligator's.
 
We don't get to be humans, but they could be NPC's if Bil wishes. He said there may be all sorts of NPC's.
 
If you ever meet humans, that's exactly what they'll be like. They won't talk anymore. The music and the flashing lights speaks for them.
 
I imagine that we'll meet "humans" as an enourmous, interstellar and vile empire with weak inhabitants that are far from the humans we know today; much weaker, no body hair, speaks through flashes and sounds, their feet are almost gone, and their sociological design is much more advanced than today.

Hey I would like to join, I'm new NES's but I already have a concept for a race of aliens, I will post it tonight before the deadline. All I can reveal now is that my race will be called the Bako Tellians, and they are a race of amphibians. If at all possible I would like to lay claim to sector I,H.
 
amphibians? sounds like our long lost relatives. We shall have a long and good relationship.
 
RACE NAME: Ivking

APPEARANCE: Upon first glance, they strongly resemble Minotaur from earth mythology, however there are a few differences. The main, and most obvious difference, is their eyes. Instead of looking like the eyes of a human, the pupils are vertical, like a vipers. The rest of their head is very bovine-like, with horns that extend sideways, sweeping up, or forwards, also sweeping up. A few have horns that extend straight out sideways and even fewer have downwards-pointed horns.

Their bodies are very large and muscular. Their hands are modified hooves, they have a hoof covering over their three fingers (a thumb, and two regular fingers). The hoof covering has cracks so the digits can bend, and only covers the back of their hands. The rest of their body, except for their feet (which are more traditional hooves, though longer and wider to help with balance), which is very thick and shaggy to help insulate against the cold of their planet. Finally their legs are more like a cows in that they have hocks. Females of the species also have breasts, not udders, which are also covered in hair except for the nipple.

As far as dress goes, it is generally animal hide clothing, unless they are going to war, when they‘d wear actual metal battle armor. As for weapons, they use magnetically propelled ballistic weapons (“Slugthrowers”) for actual combat, and battle axes, maces, etc. for ceremonial and arena combat.

CIVILIZATION NAME: Ivking Confederation of Clans

LOCATION: G/E

CULTURE: Though the Ivkings may be good farmers and manufacturers, their society glorifies war and combat. The males have a high sense of honor and though there is honor in contributing through farming, mining, industry, etc. the quickest and best way to gain honor is through combat, and the most honored are those who die in combat. All of the warriors seek an honorable death by the hand of a worthy opponent, so that they may be accepted into Halvalla, their heaven, where only the best warriors are admitted to fight for the rest of eternity to find the greatest Ivking warrior of all. The idea of Halvalla is so strong in their culture and society that they’ve named their planet after it. To other cultures it may seem brutish, barbaric, or even uncivilized, but to the Ivkings, it is a way of life.

Though they may be focused on gaining honor through combat, they still have art, a sophisticated alphabet, literature, etc. that they take much pride in as well.

They also have many gods, quite a few relating to war. But they also have storm gods, love gods, fertility gods, etc.

GOVERNMENT: The government of the Ivking Confederation of Clans is a fairly simple one. Basically the government head is the Grand Warlord. He is descended from the only successful Grand Warlord, Alexdanrochs the Fierce. His line was the only one to succeed because he was the first Grand Warlord to give rights to the lesser Warlords (complete autonomy, with the only requirement being when called upon to send troops to defend the confederation, all warlords must send some) which did much in pleasing the clans, allowing his line to continue after his own death.

The Grand Warlord has a sizeable harem, anywhere from 4 wives up to 12. Of these, he normally fathers many calves. The bulls are trained in the way of war and leadership, though not put into any leadership positions or not given a clan of their own to control. When the Grand Warlord dies, his sons who are of age fight it out in an arena competition, where the last one standing takes up the title of Grand Warlord. They are not put into any leadership positions to help prevent them from gaining loyal followers who would dispute the champion and rebel against the Confederation.

DOMESTIC POLICY: Currently, the domestic policy of the ICC is to keep the fringe barbarians out and keep the confederation safe. (Though the Confederation is big, there are still many renegade clans who do not accept the Grand Warlord as their ruler and raid and attack Confederation clans.) Laws depend on each Confederation clan’s individual Warlord, though there is not much slavery and for the most part individuals experience a high amount of personal freedoms, especially if they have amassed a good amount of honor over the course of their lives.

XENOPOLICY: Again, depends on the warlord in question. While most would be neutral to outsiders, some may choose to raid, others may choose to form alliances. However, if the Grand Warlord sees a species as a threat or as an ally he can give an order to the other clans to leave the group alone or attack, etc.

PERSONAL NAMES: Alexandrochs, Magnus, Indicus, Jarrko, Aurgon.

PLANET NAMES: Home Planet: Halvalla. Moons: Roth (Volcanic moon.), Ikol (Very much like Halvalla), Yrt (Rocky moon, similar to Earth’s moon.)
*Halvalla is twice the diameter of Earth, and pretty cold. Ice caps extend from the poles to the tropic lines, and the climate along the equator is that of the subtropics on Earth. There are rain forests and such, but they are not the hot, humid ones you’d find on Earth. It is also the only planet in the solar system. It is slightly further away from its sun then Earth is from its.

STAR NAMES: Home Star: Bos (smaller then Eart’s sun.)

SHIP NAMES: The clans generally name their ships after their warlord. Example: Alexandrochs I, II; Indicus I, II; etc. They have space travel, but have not settled any other planetary bodies other then Halvalla.
