worth noting that House Hohenzollern also became the German emperors later. It doesn't automatically indicate Prussia, other than for the fact that another banner were more likely in case of "Germany".

It has to be. The kingdom of Buganda was located right on the shores of Lake Victoria.

The flag and the hats match the Imperial Guard. It's not definitive, because almost every variation of headgear, uniform, etc. was fielded by some unit or other during the Napoleonic period. but I strongly suspect it is the French UU.

The colour of the coats threw me until I realized they're the colour associated with their leader, not their civ.

We have some evidence that some unit appearances may be ideologically dependant. In the image above, two America's are fighting (both use the unique Marine unit in the top left). One uses a T-34 and the other a more fitting Sherman.

With confirmation of ideology returning and the gameplay of Ben Franklin (Democratic) using Shermans against Xerxes' (Communist) T-34s, I think it can be safely assumed that (at least tank) appearances are ideology dependant.

The more i see, the more likely I think it is that there's some sort of Ideology system in the Modern Age, and that the look of late game units will depend on that. Three types of tanks that match up with the three ideology/modern government choices in V and VI. Of course, it's far from conclusive, Meiji Japan could just have early 20th century German tanks because Japan fought with them in WWII, but it's something to consider when unit appearance is in consideration as evidence.
