Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

Nice! Where did you spot them?
RangerArea, a german streamer, played into the Exploration age and he said what he managed to unlock and how. Unfortunately, the civ selection screen doesn't tell you how unlocked a civ in game. Just how you unlocked civs with leaders and previous civs. And shows the same for the civs you didn't unlock.

He also took the legacy option to get a free unit in each settlement. Starting the Age with 12 additional swordsmen is bonkers - especially while playing Charlemagne and getting free cavalry every now and then as well. Mongolia in such a spot is going to be so much fun.

Cultural Dark Age in Exploration:
+1 Charge and Movement on Missionaries
-3 Happiness in all cities if you found a religion
-6 Happiness in a city that doesn't follow your religion once founded

From all the previews so far, anyone starts as anything. There doesn’t seem to be a specific tie-in, and no cultural setting has been spotted yet.
Looks like default is random civs and leaders combos in the setup screen.

I really don't see myself ever taking these, especially at the expense of all other Legacy bonuses! :cringe:

I hope we get Philippines (or a pre-colonial version of them) to go with Jose Rizal at some point. Not thrilled about Himiko’s two personas. We know so little about her.

I already bet about her persona standing for the Japanese Emperor Tenno without including any real Tenno who can be aggressive choice for Asian costumers.

Cities cannot be renamed. :hide:

That's such an important feature for any cic game, but especially for this one with the civ switching. I cannot believe it's still not in.
I swear, if the justification for this is that they want to really let players feel that “history is built in layers”, I’m gonna start playing domination-only until they add the naming feature.

In fact, if I hear “history is built in layers” one more time…

I have a hunch it has to do with the capital changing feature. It should be possible with a renaming feature but I just have feeling it might be technical debt

It looks like Charlemagne is more angry that you Sanctioned another Civ than that you Declared War. There might be a time-decay at work on these factors, though.

Also, Started a Trade Route and Mutual Trade are separate positive bonuses. Not sure if Mutual Trade just means he started a trade route with you or if its referencing something else.
