Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

It seems to be an old medieval word (both in French and the english "Factory as a trading post" : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factory_(trading_post) ).
Yes, but Firaxis won't use the word "Factory" because that denotes a different thing that comes into play in the modern age. That's why I called this a Factorum, which is generally the person around whom the Factory (trading post) is built. He or she is the representative of a trading company who is authorized to make sales and purchases to an overseas community.

I agree that it's probably not called "Factory" (and instead the Portuguese translation, "Feitoria"), but do you have more information on "Factorum"? I can't find anything about that term

I suppose I picked up the word "Factorum" through fiction and it isn't in actual use, but the meaning is meant to be the nomitive singular form of Factor per the second definition as shown here:

An agent or representative; a reseller or distributor (sometimes with a private label); a consignee.

However, I don't think we really need to delve into the etymology of this, as I merely intended it to be a placeholder for whatever the actual word that Firaxis is using in English, because I don't think it's 'Factory'!

Interesting to see this here - the word is from Chinese 过所, a type of entry permit for foreign merchants and travelers implemented in Tang dynasty.

Do we already know the basic distance of trade routes without improvement?

Also, lenses, if well implemented (and depending on the engine capability) would help on the information display (e.g a military lens that actually showed everything in black and white but the military units).
Indeed one of my per peeves with religion view in Civ6 was it was not capable of highlighting religious units. That alone would have tripled the usefulness of the view.
We've seen before how parts of buildings phase out of view when units on top of them are selected iirc, some sorta toggle to phase out most buildings/other non-essential decorative features in a strategic view equivalent would be useful imo.

Probably a case of "I only have an hour, there's no time for this! Someone else will show it anyway" repeated dozens and dozens of times.

I'm not sure if you can deduct the trade route limit from Marbozir's video. At minute 32, he shows that a merchant has two options: one is 7 tiles away (Akhenaten), the other is further away and can't be seen on that screen (Si Thep), but maybe you can deduct the distance to the merchant's tile if you watch the video more carefully than I did. He then moves the merchant to another city, where Akhenaten (8 tiles away) is still an option, but the other (Si Thep) isn't anymore.

According to this video, Empire resources do stack.

I think we knew that, but nice to have it confirmed.
