Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

It's worth considering that this is just one variant of the model... an Eastern version (specifically for Chola, in this case). We don't know what the Western version looks like.
But Musketeers role here. are they now ranged class with the range of two hexes?

I don't know (there's been no tooltips for the tech and the only view I've actually seen of the unit is in the aforementioned video from Marbozir which was just stills and not actual play), but I doubt that they're ranged, since none of the infantry units we've seen in Modern Age are ranged.

But tercio can provide Anticav supports in this game.
That's nice for Spain, but not anyone else.

It might be. but not exactly what I like it to be. And remember that this game is now a campaign of three scenarios played in a same in one play but not the whole game.
Noticed that Xunleichong (Ming UU armed with specially designed arquebuses). has a range of 1 (one) hex away. (Civ6 slinger attack range). Note that Xunleichong as a weapon has less range than a generic matchlock musket IRL.

I guess so. If I remember correctly, there were no Tier 3 ranged unit on the science tree.

Most likely both melee and ranged units from exploration upgrade to melee units in modern. But it has nothing to do with exploration musketeers being (or not being) ranged.

Do we already know that IP Villages can have an Army Commander (even at a difficulty level which gives -3 strength to their units)?

Several of the streamers previously said their next embargo date is Feb 3, and I haven't seen any new video from the streamers who have already released an hour. Marbozir just posted a video today in which he said he can only post stills, not more video.

Another streamer confirms that pre-embargo release has been extended to 120 minutes. The NDA has been altered. Pray it will be altered further.

That's why you gotta go with cuneiform tablets. When the city burns, the tablets bake.
Alas that the Phoenicians wrote on papyrus and parchment in a humid environment. :(

Mount Kilimanjaro is actually a bit underwhelming. It's unclear how the wifi is.

It seems like even in the new build of the game that VanBradley played on in his recent video, we are still unable to swap unimproved tiles between settlements. He mentioned this was likely the patch that would go live on day 1. Planning building adjacency between different settlements is going to be such a headache if not just impossible :(

Mexico's unlock. Similar to America, but a different terrain type.
They could have snazzed up the picture if the buildings had been subtly hued to match the Mexican flag.

Exploration Age units' icons and names. Arquebusier is ranged. The Tier 3 cavalry unit is the Lancer.

I am feeling that one complaint you could levy against Civ7 (and I will) is that they have gone for flavour over gameplay too much of the time. Unlocks are probably the clearest example, Mexico's or Spain's makes sense if you want something flavourful, but has 0 relationship to gameplay.

It's also there in some of the Civ designs I think. There's often a little bit more than there needs to be for good gameplay, and it's just to add a bit of flavour. I don't want historical innacuracies everywhere, but I think 7 has swung its pendulum too far the other way sometimes.

Rant over.
