Lots of snow fell today! Many people hate the snow but its a very rare event in NYC to get a lovely snowfall like this! I started a new job (food delivery :cringe: ) today and you'd think that would make me hate this weather but nope I still love it! You guys' like snow? I figure some of you Northern European cats (gents, blokes, fellows) probably get sick of it but maybe not. Talking of cats here's a picture I took of my beloved furry friends today.

How do other NYers (or other people from spots where it doesn't snow alot) feel about snow? How do you guys' who are used to snow feel about it?

A Minnesotan's perspective of snow:

Snow is just another obstacle that cause traffic to get worse, and you have to clean it off of things. I hate snow. It's not pretty; it's just another one of lifes annoying nuisances

Wow, that's indeed surprising. I would guess food delivery is one of the jobs worst effected by it.

But great if you like it anyway. :goodjob:

It doesn't snow here alot either. I haven't checked the weather statistics to compare it with NYC, but I thought it snows there quite regularly as well.
However, I like snow as much as I like rain, and that is alot.
What I probably like in general is the change of the weather over the year. Rain, snow, cold, hot (well that could leave ;) ) - we have it all.

Nice looking cats you got there narz, I wish it would snow more here, we get the occasional dumping, but everywhere else it seems gets plenty of it. I want to go snowboarding, but I have no money :( I love the snow, Winter is my favourite season, except the long nights, that I dont like.

That's strange. My dad grew up in Buffalo and he says they get LOADS of snow. Sometimes FEET of snow. Anyway, I wish we had more snow over here.

I know that most ppl in BC would kick my ass if they knew where i lived after i said this but here it goes. WOO HOOOO NO SNOW!!!! I don't snowboard or ski so i don't care if its on the mountains or not. And i deliver pizza, so i would hate to think about my job when it snows. So the longer it doesn't snow, the happier i am.

New York is a lot nicer in the winter than the summer. I love seeing a bunch of people in snowy Central Park, or even the Rockefeller Christmas Tree... The best part is how in the morning, the snow dampens all sound, and the city is eerily quite. :)

But I hate the black slush that will be there tomorrow: bet you won't want to take a picture of that, Narz!

New Yorkers order in a lot! And when it snows, you'd better believe the lazy bums are going to order in, rather than go out. (I'm guilty myself, as charged)

Last time I can remeber it snowing where I live is 1994 when I was still at junior school and it's not like I live in a paticulary warm place of the world either (South coast of England). Been snowboarding in the Alps since, but never actually had it fall in my garden since then.

As for NY being better in winter, well I second that. In the summer it can get so unberabley hot as the endless concrete buildings absorb all the sunlight.

[dance] As you can see in my location, I am enjoying it right now. Unfortunately, it seems to have stopped, so the chances of me having a snow day off tomorrow are slim. Anyway, Narz, thats kind of a bad pic you posted. It shows a tiny pile at the edge of the sidewalk, and its cleared. You should have seen my friend's driveway, perfect, plain, untouched snow, all 5 inches of it!

Anyway, snow is a rare and welcome event, IMO, here in NYC. We had what, one inch total last year? 5 inches in a day is great for me. I don't even remember '96. I second cromagnon's comment: its going to be ugly tomorrow, maybe you should post a pic to show everyone what snow turns into overnight in NYC. I guess I'll just wake up early tomorrow, look out the window, and if its still snowing, wait by the phone to see if I get the call.

Whats worst about snow is when its not enough to be a snow day, but enough to slow traffic and make the buses all slow and bogged down. I saw three buses on one street, all B1s. Quite a sight. :D

When there's snow, take advantage of it! Pelt everyone with snowballs! *evil laughter*

Sometimes I get so sick of Silicon Valley weather. It was SIXTY DEGREES TODAY! I like winter best of all the seasons. Hasn't snowed hear for at least 6 years. Hailed once however for 10 minutes.

Humph! That big snow storm went completely south of here. We didn't get so much as a single snowflake. We are used to lots of snow here (though not as much as N. NY state or Minnesota), and we haven't had anything of note so far this year. I'm starting to get a little upset with ol' Mother Nature.

We are getting the cold, though. It'll get down to 12F (-10C for you metric types) tonight . :cringe:

It was 20 degrees below zero the day before yesterday. And no-one seems to be surprised at seeing lots of snow. ;)

Just learned some dozens of people died in America because of snowfalls. :(

We've been getting steady snow here in Rochester, NY for the past week now, i think were past a foot....

All i know is this sucks for me because i havent worked in 2 weeks, and im not on a salary.... :(

It's all so unbloodyfair. We never get snow here (SE England) aside from a half an hour sprinkle some time in January. I'm sure we got more in the 1980's - I remember several winters where had at least 6".

Now, we're impressed if we get any.

I like snow only if we get REAL snow not just 20-30cm as usual. Then after a few hours it's some brown paste, bah. We haven't gottten snow yet in this season, it's still a little too warm for that (about 5° C).

@napoleon: did they really close school because you got half a foot of snow? I mean half a foot isn't reallly that much, is it.
