So why was CFC down (on and off) the last 3 days?

Soo... Thunderfall and his admins disappeared from the face of the Earth?! :run:

Maybe they broke the rule and went on the same airplane

Does anyone know about any recent fatal airplane crashes?

We should occupy the server.

At one point I saw it displaying "Fatal error: Unable to connect to memcache server in [path]/includes/class_datastore.php on line 224" instead of Server Too Busy.

Yes it was mentioned earlier.

I'm guessing that the prime time hours till around noonish is the most stable .

Be fair! 2 out of 4 have posted this month.

I only checked their user profile :p

It is not trivial to get any single web server to handle very high loads. Very often they exhaust server resources before they hit bandwidth limits.
And those shouldn't be ignored too when we're talking thousands of connections: what I receive of the forum's main page has 157KB - that would set the limit of simultaneous connections handled by a server with a 1Gbit nic to some 750 before bandwidth was exhausted. Not exactly that because of different rates and latency, of course, but you get the idea. And this ignoring any images and other stuff being exchanged.

See here some sightly outdated comments on other possible issues that may still be useful.

Yeah... ...apparently the problem is still persisting -_-. I'm surprised the Admins have not looked into tweaking the Simultaneous Sessions Limit and *NIX Server Load Limit options to fix this issue.

This is happening far too offrequently to just be when it is under heavy load, something more than that is definatly not working.

It does seem less reliable than usual. I got the "too busy" message a couple days ago, and did again earlier tonight. Then I came back later, got a few pages loaded, and things froze up when I went to reply. So I went to Apolyton to see what was going on there. And it was down, too! Although Apolyton did say it was only supposed to be down for about an hour (still is so far, but it hasn't been an hour yet). But it figured that both CFC and Apolyton were unresponsive! Fortunately CFC started responding fairly quickly that time.
