Depends. If the owner had put a name and address in with it I'd return it.

If I had no option to return it then I'd keep it.

The contents would go with the wallet.

I don't know, I would say take some of the money, maybe if I was low on loonies or something, but i couldn't take all of it, as I would feel bad. However, if it is never claimed I would be very happy if it had some bills in it. Also, if I lost my wallot, i'd want the money and ID back.
Also that $15 gift certificate i need to spend as I got it two years ago (it has no expiration date).

With ID: Turn it in to it's rightful owner with nothing missing.

Without ID: It's mine.
Ditto basically. If empty - in a club/pub/similar i'd give it in to reception, but if it was just lying on the ground withj no way of ID'ing the person at all then i'd probably keep the cash, afterall there is no way of identifying the owner so better I take the cash then the next peron along.

I have actually found a couple of purses in a club before, and I regonised the people on both times from the ID inside, so I went and handed it back to them.

I found a wallett on a bus once and handed it to the driver without looking inside. The wallet was empty and I received the usual suspicion from the driver - asking all kinds of impudent questions. So much for being honest.

Needless to say I'll walk on by in the future.

you realise the bus driver probably ended up taking it....

If there was some kind of ID inside, i'd return it. If there wasn't, i'd put it back to where i found it, unless a police station was just around the corner, in which case i'd take it there.
