Seems it has slipped off the International News Radar.

Mugabe has played this one well!

Anyone know whats going on?

There has been an increase in violence lately. I think they are heading for a new election.

Things are back to status quo in Mugabeland. Rampant violence and hyperinflation, rigged elections, and South Africa looking to model themselves after it.

Second elections are due to run later this month over leadership. Mugabe can't really win though. After the second run if he should remain in power I foresee widespread rioting. If he bows out gracefully, which is far from likely then Zimbabwe will have a new government.

I just hope Zim isn't heading towards the slippery slope towards civil war...

If it does it'll be guerilla vs Zimbabwe's military, as from what I hear the military are so far in Mugabe's pocket as to be getting massive kickbacks. Recently the military came out with the rather absurd statement (before the elections as well) that they would only accept Mugabe as President.

I read that statement somewhere, too (it was actually one of 2 factors which made me think they might be heading towards civil war- the other being that large arms shipment which last time I heard was sailing around South Africa looking for somewhere to unload)

The military leadership get the kickbacks; the army doesn't have enough of their worthless currency to pay soldiers.

Er well obviously? Is there any reason you felt the need to point that out? I mean what would be the point of trying to buy off the army by paying out money to grunts? The generals are in the pay of the Government. Honestly I'm not being facetious I just don't see how anyone could have taken it any other way, except you obviously? When I said the military said x as well I didn't mean that cpl Mulawe utumo said that the only person the army would support was Mugabe? Because obviously no one would give a damn, that was the head of the army who said that.

Sorry, we're not all intuhlectuals.

Really? by now do you not realise everyone is a genius around here?

As we shake our nerdy fists at amadeus and wave our IQs in his face. j/k.

As to the thread, Mugabe's luck was perfect as Myanmar took center stage right when the Zimbabwe elections should of. VERY lucky!

To put that in context, I once had the nerve to contend I was an intellectual because I was studying an esoteric subject and read a lot of books on intellectual matters and found such a pursuit to be a major part of my life. Apparently the pursuit of knowledge is not intellectual nor is one who spends much of his time doing so an intellectual. So I agreed that no one on CFC was an intellectual, this hurt about 4 or 5 people who can't get over themselves or the subject. It's a wound I fear will never heal. Now it's gone beyond pathetic into funny. God really how sad do you have to be to still be obsessing about a year old argument? And yet still I rocked the core of CFC to it's foundation with my horrendous observation that no one would ever measure up to CFC's criteria for intellectualism.

But since obviously people haven't got the message about this I think I might have to take other measures to make sure I don't have to listen to this petty whining about old spilt milk.

Talk about delusions of grandeur.

Talk about delusions of grandeur.

Welcome to being the first person to go on ignore for mentioning this again: and I value the two points of warning or whatever this will engender if not to get the message out there that I don't give a . .. .. .. . about this subject any more, stop obsessing you babies.

Oh and by the way I agreed I wasn't an intellectual so, obviously that acknowledgement was wasted on this forum. Ok who's next for the ignore switch? :rotfl:

I'm an intellectual. CFCers might despise me for the most part (I'm a little neoconish :mischief:), but (aside from my pet trolls) I do not think this is doubted.

I recall no such thread, and I am living proof that your observation was merely self-serving.

Hmmm.... Who else shall we add?
