Any new ideas? As far as I can tell, we have consumer feedback; buying goods developed using advanced engineering is better than buying goods made using few-to-no skills.
I find purchasing products to be more satisfying than directly contributing funds. As long as the money gets to the people doing R&D, then there should be a benefit.
As well, I think that increasing the general knowledge base of the population helps, but does it? It probably does, because inventions then become more likely.
