Sri Lanka: A Tamil OCC in RFC DoC

Is that Ethiopian Egypt I see?

Chapter 6: Scholars and Traders

I finished the game in 2020 at roughly 12:30 AM, so now it is technically an AAR now. Anyway, to the update!

We get our first Great Person that I decided to take a picture of. I don't remember if I had any earlier ones, but anyway, the Great Merchant, Todar Mal, discovers the secrets of Currency and shares it with the state. However, upon revealing it to the state, the state decided to chuck out all of its bartering tools. One of those tools, a gigantic circular disk from Polynesia intended for trading with Indonesia, fell on top of Todar Mal and killed him.

Also, a majestic library is constructed, becoming the finest in the world for centuries to come. It will store some of the most important as well as occasionally secret literature of all time. The state also gains some income, due to ridiculously high late fees.

*Sniffle Sniffle!* I failed my UHVs! I have been scarred and traumatized for life thanks to this message... DOES IT LOOK LIKE I GIVE A CRAP?

civ4screenshot0067n.jpg

We discover Civil Service, prompting government reform that transitioned the government from disorganized chaos to organized chaos.
civ4screenshot0062v.jpg

Ethiopia collapses due to repeated Impi attacks and internal fighting. On the bright side, I don't have to negotiate Open Borders with the barbies.
civ4screenshot0063l.jpg

We get another Great Person, this time a Great Scientist, Aryabhata. He decided to settle down and build a gigantic Academy in the city. However, shortly after its founding, a gigantic stack of books borrowed from the Great Library fell down on top of him. Most of the books were hardcover encyclopedias, and the combined weight killed Aryabhata. His library late fees were still collected and taken out of his will.

Indonesia decides to declare war on us for no reason whatsoever. Some say that war was declared due to the throwing out of the polynesian stone disk. Their battle plan seems to consist of sitting and doing nothing.

Again, with the end of school approaching, I have a lot of RL stuff that might make me unable to update, and there is a lot of graduation stuff next weekend. However, on the 9th, I get out of school, so updates will be much more frequent. Until then!

Great update :D You shouldn't bulb at all in OCC though. Just settle the unit and run City States.

Normally, I would, but since this is a Cothon/Colossus build, running City States isn't worth it. Also, the starting techs the Tamils get are HORRIBLE!

Seriously, why didn't you prolong the road of your cows towards the indian nation? That way, using their trade routes, you would get access to +1 :health: from cows while getting full output from avoiding building a fort+road. On OCC, with such scarcity of resources, every bit of health additions is welcomed.

Actually, running City States would be worth it.
Sea tiles don't really count towards the City States limitations.
I would've switched at the earliest moment possible.

But I would have neither bulbed a tech or settled the Scientist;
an Academy should've been prioritized instead.

I wish I had known that! I still don't know whether I'll restart from where my narrative left off, or continue with the finished game. Thank you so much for that knowledge!

I did build an Academy. My wording was pretty confusing, saying that I "settled him to build an Academy."

Right now, school is driving me CRAZY, so I won't be able to update until Monday or maybe Sunday night, because then I'll be on break.

Chapter 7: Gateway to the New Day

Sorry about the LOOOONG wait, but I had a lot of RL stuff, but now that I've graduated and on summer break, things should be moving along much faster. Going off of that, I would like to dedicate this post to my graduating classmates. Anyway, to the update!

Our "buddies", the Indians, collapse due to a presence that I don't know about in theory. However, due to playing this mod waaaaaaaay to much, I know that it is the Mughal's fault (no duh!).
civ4screenshot0070.jpg

Our Dharani arives goes to Arabia to "explore" (aka spread the plague). I am officially a horrible person.
civ4screenshot0071i.jpg

On the list of Most Cultured Civilizations, I rank 4th. Not too shabby, considering that I have one city. I'll share I secret: I am one of those few culture-maniac pacifists. I assume that I will get a lot of hate for that, but I am not a mean, aggressive player (I am very cruel in Magic the Gathering by only playing Blue-based control decks. Blue is the best color, after all.)
civ4screenshot0072.jpg

We finish Ishtar Gate. One of the nice things about running an OCC in RFC is that you don't need to worry about stability. As a result, you can run Pantheon in the Medieval era and snatch up all of the unbuilt classical wonders. Ishtar Gate is nice, because it lets you make peace with annoying people much faster.
civ4screenshot0073.jpg

Since our budget is running low, we attempt to mooch money off of our hopefully nice neighbors. Just a quick disclaimer: Ethiopia collapsed, but then was resurrected.
civ4screenshot0077.jpg

civ4screenshot0078.jpg

We get a Great Artist this time, named Kalidasa. He actually achieved the secrets of immortality through music. He was just sitting around composing, when he found a sequence of notes that made him immortal and claimed was "the direct conversation of the divine". He then settled down and made a lot of culture and some money for the state. Because he is immortal and eternally young, he still is performing today in Anuradhapura. Moral of the story: Listen to avant-garde minimalist orchestral music.
civ4screenshot0079.jpg

Just a quick look at our mighty empire.
civ4screenshot0075.jpg

That's all for now! Until tomorrow! (As early as 1:00 AM, since I am pulling a commemorative all-nighter.)

Actually, as of late, the peacemongers largely outnumber the warmongers in S&T now.
Had you arrived sometime in 2011/2012 however...

Neat story! It kinda makes me wish that the Tamils/Chola would make an appearance in the main games (Indonesia too, but I guess BNW will absolve that). It makes me want to put the Tamils into Giant Earth Map.

Did not count exactly, but is that really true? Including myself (if anyone really care to try reading mah story), trexeric's The Great Seljuk Empire, GreekAnalyser's Grande Armée, etc. , that makes many warmongering type of actual stories.

Chapter 8: People, Places, and Things (but mostly people)

After pulling my all-nighter, I walked the dog and then went to bed at 8:00. I just woke up now, and I'm feeling great, so time for another update!

Our brave little Dharani keeps exploring west, and we meet a crapton of people along the way.

Everyone still here and alive? That's the end of my update.

Just kidding. Barely after we meet them, these new powers are already making ridiculous demands from us. I'm not for a war over a long span of time against the Spanish (get it, anyone?) and I see the vast flaws in Vassalage (get it? Okay, the Vassalage pun was horrible.)

civ4screenshot0095.jpg

Here are some pictures of our brave Dharani's long voyage.

We finish researching Gunpowder. Why would we need this? I'll give you the answer in a bit. Here's a hint: It starts with a P and ends with an Ortuguese.
civ4screenshot0092.jpg

A quick look at our gigantic empire. Mongolia also collapses. I can't say that I'll miss them.
civ4screenshot0098.jpg

We also finish the Colosseum. This will be helpful for crushing the Portuguese (now you know the answer) Trading Company invaders.
civ4screenshot0099.jpg

That's all for now! Until tomorrow!

Colosseum in 1485? Cool! Or should I say, Coolosseum? ...I'm sorry, that was terrible.

Great update! Man, that is quite the empire you got there. It's like, [insert size of Sri Lanka here].

You kidding? That was brilliant!

His empire is as big s Sri Lanka!

Good stuff. I will be following.
