1: the plans are in place. the dummy plugs have been installed on every SJAC built. they do not notice this anomlys equitment being installed duriing their construction.

G: exccelent. and the placement of a control on the B---h Lady Misato?

K: procceding slowly. we should be able to securre success on the aquisition of her child Lady Asuka within 5 years.

2 Orders in, a few stories... usually more by now.

Can I entice anyone? I'm willing to run the update early if all orders are in early... :)

Shalia Crost remembered the day her son died two years ago as if it had just happened yesterday. The young man was fresh out of the Harpellian Royal Military Academy and it was his first assignment to the Harpellian Hegemony's fighter squads. It seemed like just a routine wargame fighter sortie, to practice if ever real enemy invaders came. On AI simulations he and others in his graduating class did excellent, knocking out the sim-invaders with relative ease. Unfortunately, the real thing - the first real wargame he would engage in - went much more tragically. There was a communications breakdown and part of the fighter fleet got the wrong coordinates and 20 fighters burst apart as they collided with each other. Shalia Crost's son was one of the doomed pilots. Ever since, she and others who had lost friends and family in that tragic wargame had been on a determined crusade to prevent it from happening again. She had been a city mayor prior to the tragedy, and it was this expertise in politics that allowed her to lead her faction to gaining a voice in the Harpellian Senate, with Shalia being elected Senator. Despite having only a handful of seats in the assembly, the citizens - and lawmakers - of the Harpellian Hegemony sympathized with Shalia's faction and her initiative to introduce rigorous training to educate pilots to check their instruments and ensure that there are no errors before going into wargames passed into law easily.
But still, Shalia had no satisfaction - her son was still dead. Nothing could bring her son back. Having no other children, and her husband was among the Harpellians chosen to colonize Qomoc to explore the Old Dominion ruins so she hadn't seen him in a year by now, Shalia felt completely alone. Her fancy apartment was empty. Who had she to live for? Her comrades in her faction? They were doing quite well-off already, and had sympathizers in all the political organizations, so even without a majority in the Senate, many of their proposals would likely pass.
Friends told her she would make a great Queen and could strengthen the Hegemony in numerous ways. But Royal Elections weren't going to happen for another 3 years. Shalia didn't know if she would be able to conquer the immense sorrow.
Yet... every time she considered suicide and saw various ways being virtually on-hand, she hesitated and couldn't go through with it. Could she possibly be stronger than the pain? Would she make a great Queen after all?

Whee, another story and orders coming ASAP. I got a new, good video card [compared to my previous integrated one, anyway] so every game I have runs super-smoothly now. Had a binge yesterday. ^_^

Story:

There she was…the Jeigan. One of five transport vessels being loaded with colonists and equipment. One of five transport vessels which will found the first colony of the UCCT outside of the Totalus System. Ruth Harris gasped as she realized just how big it was – video images just didn’t do it justice. Truly it looked like it could hold five hundred colonists complete with vast resources necessary to build up an infrastructure from the start.

“Amazing!”
“Wow, I never would’ve imagined…”
“Absolutely incredible.”

Various whispered responses to the ship echoed through the crowd of soon-to-be colonists. Ruth for one grand moment felt a common bond with the citizens of the Corporations, a common excitement for the coming mission. Together, they would – after a journey on the Jeigan, Marcus, Titania, Seth, and Wallace – forge a new society on a new world in a new system. No matter how the old system would attempt to force the new one in a certain direction, it would still be vastly different by its very nature.

And perhaps it would be people of Crisium and other future colonies that would finally destroy the old Corporate control system…

Remove yourselves from our System and never return.

Tara pushed some foliage out of his way and waved back to her followers.

"Follow me please."

Kellis, the other guide, was right stepped up right behind her, leading a group of twenty or so curious children and adults.

"We'll have to be quiet now." said Kellis to the group. Their chatter ceased instantly.

"The Crownbeetles have a settlement right ahead. They don't mind humans coming along, but if we just tramp into their home they- well, what would you do if an alien creature suddenly burst into your house?"

Some of the children laughed nervously.

"Now if you could look-"

"Look at that!" shouted a young boy from the back. A group of 6 or so iridescent blue insects, each about half a meter tall, wer skittering towards them along the soft earth, making shrill chirruping sounds.

"Don't touch it. Stand back and watch this." said Tara. She felt the ground shake. She knew what was coming, and grinned. Kellis led the group into a covered area. For a second as the insects passed, there was no sound at all.

Then, faster than most humans could follow, huge dark creatures leapt at the fleeing insects. Pincers and other appendages moved with lightning speed, striking down each one with precision. Within a second, every insect was dead. Their attackers suddenly slowed down to a visible pace.

They were definitely Crownbeetles, Tara noted.

The group stared fascinatedly as the creatures lifted the bodies of the smaller insects onto short, tentacular grasping arms just below what appeared to be a neck. Once the insects were all securely held, one of the Crownbeetles made a whistling sound, and the hunters set off into the underbrush. The humans followed.

The Crownbeetles took a sharp turn to the left, and entered a clearing. Tara and Kellis cautiously followed, behind them was the excited group.

another story to be continued :p

Orders sent.

There will be a (crappy) story later so watch this space...

Location: High Madya Orbit

The hundred yard shard of drifting rock flared with a thousand tiny stars. The ruby red beams of the seveteen nearest rocks defense grids cut the metallic boulder into hundreds of pieces of debris. There was a moment of calm, then each fragment, seen now only in IR, flared with their own light. Something that had be orbiting Orpha since its parent rock had been split asunder, or even coagulating out of the dust cloud itself, was now but a trace of dust again.

The swarming traffic between the rocks of the Halo made not the slightest adjustment of activity to compensate for the slaying of this intruder, trusting to the ever-viligant AIs of the defense laser grids. Indeed the AIs themselves, always staring outward like the Argus of old, remember the rock for no more than a few milliseconds, before considing it to archiving and letting its vector and composition sink beneath successive non-sentient overlays.

The Conclave had laboured long to build such a home for themselves; they would not be wiped from the map by the wandering hand of fate...

To Imerik: it would be an even trad, so both parties profited equally, was are saved the massive cost of researching lvl 3 Energy pysics, and you are saved the cost of researching Construction lvl 3. it will also present you in favorible light, and we would not be disinclined if goods would start flowing between us. (we'll set up a trade route next turn with you if you do this)

Orders:

1) Fill five transports with 500 colonists each and ship them to Crisium with a one Carrier escort [with 50 fighters in its hold]. Remove these from their respective fleets, if necessary. The colonists will, of course, be used to found a colony on the best planet in the Crisium system. (Totalus -> Crisium)

2) Spend 2 EP on research into Energy technology.

3) Bring the Cassini Fleet back to Totalus. (Crisium -> Totalus)

4) Spend 1 EP on the construction of another Scoutship.

5) Spend that final EP on the construction of 50 more fighters.

It is in our interests to arm you rather than harm you, <implied subtext>Haven</implied subtext> so right now we will give you our blueprints for spaceship weapons, which we are sure you have the ingenuity to adapt for your designs, and we ask that you be willing to trade with us in the near future, once we have determined what avenue of research we wish to pursue.

We will accept your trade, and offer you some of our technology in Construction.
