To Isles
From Picts

We are warry of the Isle peoples, but we shall conduct limited trade.

To Isles
From Angleland

Very well, we accept your aid and hope it will be the beginning of further cooperation between our peoples. And while we will allow your builders into our lands, we cannot spare any expense from the war, and so we are not able to build roads.

stJNES5.2: From the Beginning
Update 2, 2300 B.C.E.

Across the windswept barren mountains, the Lydians push further into Anatolia. The tribes inhabiting the area are known for their hostilities, most of them are Hittite, but their small armies cannot resistant Lydian foot soldiers. On the other hand, with the establishment of the Rhodesian colony, Hittite trade flows through the colony and into Lydia. The increase in trade has more than paid for itself, wealthy merchants took matters into their own hands and built a road joining the colony to Sardis. With the influx of wealth, the King has paid for a new route straight to the Thracians in the north. The enormous amount of goods traveling along the new road has created a metropolis at the banks of the Dardanelle, which is called Byzantium. The city has become a trade center, with goods flowing from the east and into Europe. (+ Econ. Level)

The Finlanders land on the other side of the Baltic Sea, attempting to set up a city that will help claim the land for Finns. However, not all goes well. The native inhabitants, the Vikings, don’t take well to the newcomers, especially since the planned city site is directly in the place of a Viking settlement. Worst comes to worse, and hostilities break out. The Finns, with superior training and weaponry, slaughter the Viking menace, and establish the stone city of Stockholm, but the population remains a constant 500 people, not enough to sustain a presence for much longer.

On the boot of Italy, the Sicilians continue to harvest their crops and protect their colony, but sadly, it was not to last. A ravaging tribe of Italliots coming from the northern part of the peninsula, come crashing south, their full might upon the Sicilian colony, Croton. The city has been in decline in recent years, most of the military based there was withdrawn back to Sicily or sent to its new sister city, Tarentum, in the east. The gates did not hold long, and the city was soon captured, burned, and pillaged. Meanwhile, Tarentum is established, another Sicilian colony, which seems to get along peacefully with the natives that surround it.

Antigot expands overseas rapidly again. The city of Enitot is established on the Iberian mainland, miles away from any other civilization. Furthermore, the Balearic Islands are easily settled and intertwined into a large trade network that reaches from Antigot, to Enitot, and finally to the Numidian capital, Fea. The towns and tribes that border this trade route are among the most prosperous and lucrative on the planet. Meanwhile, a loan colony is established on the African mainland, near the militaristic Fez tribes. With little connection to the mainland and little attention due to the Numidian trade, the colony is not expected to last. Already, many settlers are leaving due to huge Fez attacks and little defense.

In the land of the East, the Song continues to expand their Empire, controlling many different cultures, yet the people remain homogenous. Civil strife and power struggle plague the dynasty, with twelve attempted assassinations and half a dozen minor rebellions.

Into the barren Iceland in the north, the nation of Lapland is suffering compared to the rest of the world. As temperatures continue to drop, the crops are harder and harder to grow, and the people rely more and more on hunting, making it difficult to found a permanent settlement when herds travel.

On sun-baked sand, the Persians stand ready for the annual Bactrian horde to appear through the mountain pass. And, just as expected, the march could be heard, and finally, the vision became apparent. Having positions throughout the top of the pass, the Persian archers let loose a fury of arrows, followed by a flanking move by Persian horsemen. Surprised yet not defeated, the Bactrians regroup and make a dash for open land, where the meet the Persian infantry. While not as trained as the Bactrians, the Persians hold the line until reinforcements arrive to encircle the Bactrians, forcing a surrender. The Persians win the Battle of Mountain Pass, and effectively end the Bactrian raids upon their country. Meanwhile, constructed galleys deliver a force to the Arabian peninsula in the south, as well as aid the army in expanding to the east.

The city of Palmyra, a trading metropolis, comes under attack by Assyrian forces. Envious of the enormous wealth of the Palmyrans, the Assyrian king desired the strategic city for himself, and so made no waste of time into gaining it. Nearly fourteen spearmen regiments accompanied by horsemen, were sent to engage and take the city. In face of the enormous army, bloodthirsty and ready to destroy the beautiful city he had built up for decades, the King of Palmyra silently abdicated and allowed the Assyrians control. (+economy).

Isle men are sent on a mission in Ireland to gain land and hold it for the Kingdom back home. The natives on this island are rather peaceful, and have never fought much, and so do not really resist the settlements. More Isle men are sent south, to aid the Angles in their wars against the Saxons, and have almost achieved victory. The northern half of Saxon territory is under Angle control, and the south is under heavy attack. Meanwhile, internal trade facilitates better with road construction, and many more towns are built along the coasts.

Three nations land in Sardina, all in different locations, and all overwhelming the once-proud nation. In the north, Antigot is the most powerful, taking nearly half of the island before the Carthaginians and the Sicilians even land in the south. Losses are light, since it is spread through all three Kingdoms, and so are easily replenished.

Magadha expands rapidly along the Ganges river, and beefs up its own military force by requiring that the surrounding tribes donate forces if they wish to remain in existence. Losses are relatively light in expansion, yet the army is now becoming a burden to control.

OOC: Sorry for a crappy update…I didn’t get many orders either.

Gutt update. I think I have a job for that restless army, really...

Tsar Rurik looked over at the town of Moscow, the capital of the Muscovite Empire, which he, and by extension his dynasty, had founded. His "palace" was little more than a wooden shack that just had 3 tall wooden towers and had 1 more floor than all the others. Hardly a sight to see - after all, what is just one shack that's a little bit higher with towers in a multitude of shacks? He looked back onto the floor, where a mystic, among the most-revered, other than the Tsar of course, men in all Muscovy was listening carefully and memorizing what Tsar Rurik was saying. Sitting near him on the floor was a scribe, scribbling in the primitive Muscovite Alphabet the Tsar's words.

"Yes, for too long until I took control the Russians of the great Muscovy were scattered and disunited. Moscow itself was but a small village until I assumed control, rising to the top among the leagues of chieftains, and uniting the disunited, strenghtening the weak." He noticed the scribe slowing down. "What, did you get lost somewhere, idiot? Are you not competent enough to carry out my will? Must I do to you the same as I did to the last tribal leader that opposed my rise of power?"

"No, sir!" The young man shook visibly. "I know what I'm writing, I know what you say."

"Fine. But if the history of the beginning of Muscovy is screwed up, the Empire will blame you, and I will personally pray to the gods that you be smitten. Anyway, as I was saying... The leagues, after hearing rumors of another group of tribes further west, possibly hostile, readily accepted my ascension to power as Tsar of the Muscovites. A few, though, did dare challenge me, proposing that I share power with the chieftains rather than consolidate it in my own hands. 'Ha!', I said, 'That's what you have been doing all these years, and what has it got you? A couple of villages not strong enough to fight against a rumored threat? No, I alone will have power, and I will channel that power to ensure Muscovite supremacy!' After that, I disposed of the rogue tribes. Destroyed them unless they decided at the last minute to join my Empire. A few did manage to escape my wrath, but no matter: I will hunt them down soon, and if not I, then my son Rurik II, or my grandson, and so on, until all the rogues have been assimilated, or punished!" He turned back to face the shantytown that was Moscow. "And Moscow will rise to prominence and will be the glory of the world, and everyone will envy her wealth, enlightenment, and power!"

The escaped rogue tribes... They supposedly fled southwest, with Rurik's Army hot on their heels. They will be taken care of, and their places of safe haven joined with Muscovy into their own prisons and deathbeds...

A new residence, the Rurik Palace, was already beginning to be built. Shall be much greater than the little shack the Tsar and his family were forced to live in for now.

And to chase after the rogues and thus increase Muscovy's domain, a special group was being trained, the Rurik Horsemen, having greater agility than the standard run-of-the-mill horsemen, as well as more strength in offensive battle. They would be the vanguard of Muscovite expansion and, if significant resistance be met, the Muscovite war machine.

ORDERS
1. Begin the Rurik Palace - Effect is to increase the confidence of Muscovy, since the people and the tribal chieftains under Muscovite rule can see the riches and might of the Rurik Palace and see its reflection in the power of the Tsars.
2. New UU - Rurik Horsemen - They're faster and have better offensive strength than the standard horsemen.
3. Use 500 Horsemen and 1,000 Archers to expand southwestward (towards RL Belarus and Ukraine). If significant tribes are met on the way, coerce them into joining us or annihilate them.
4. Use 500 Archers and 1,000 Spearmen to expand southward. Again, if significant tribes are met, coerce them or annihilate them.
5. Increase economy through construction of roads to connect the [current] frontiers to the capital at Moscow, which would make the routes that funnel the taxes and internal merchants much more obvious, so that they don't have to take dangerous trips through unfamiliar, unmarked territories.
6. Use the remaining 1,000 Spearmen and 1,000 Archers to defend Muscovy inside, protect the new roads that are being constructed, etc.

Great Update. 2 questions though

Antigot
"It is a day like all others in Antigot. A sunny day with small clowds. The summers of this lands are truly a picture. Art. It's amazing how the winter is so diffrent. The lands turns to frozen barren that is barley kept. We are lucky that Rujarat told us to turn our eyes to the sea. Fishing bring much food and trade much wealth. Rujarat is wise.

Forest%20Spirit.jpg

The Ancient Rujarat.

Rujarat is the one god that rules all. In the old days he used to live in the lands. He was amighty creature. He looked like a deer. A little bit bigger than a usual one but he had huge hornes. His hornes were so large that the trees in the old world had to move away when he walked. His face looks wierd, but looks perfect. He always had a smile on his face. Rujarat was the most beautifull of all. This days he have changed his shape. After he left the earth he changed his shape. His hornes were kept but his body dissapeared. The only things that were left were the hornes, and the eyes, and how could I forget, the smile. Every some time in winter you could see part of his hornes. Shown in great light and great force. With one hit they can destory a part of the forst itself. One of his eyes light the world. It is called Masua. While the other... it almost never shows. Somthimes it exist near his other eye, but only if you look well. Usualy it doesn't. It is less bright but it is the seocnd brightest light in the sky, after the first eye. The second eye is called Nagos. After this apeares the smile. It only apears after Rujarat cries and makes rain. After he push out all saddnes he breaks into smiling. And an amazing smile it ass. Covering all colors from purple to red. Everytime we see his smile we smile ourselves knowing he is always up there.

Rujarat is smart. Our religion is very advanced. He brought to us many advices for better lives. We all live happy lives. With his advices we are happy. The msot important advice of them all is "Where wish and beliefe exist all can happane". As long as we wish for anything we want, and believe we shall gain them, than we shall. I had a little baby boy this way. It sounds like an easy advice but it is the hardest thing to be done for how could one believe in somthing that is yet to exist? Our beliefe in Rujarat brings us to this.

More there is to be known of Rujarat. Later thought I must go back to my studies."
