stJNESX: From Bad to Good

arrgh, rome again! lol, j/k.

Btw, Jason, dont penalize me becuase I am not writing, I have not written for a month or more. ;)

ORDERS:
Expand and try to find the mystic river, which was said to be of golden yellow.
Increase the army for the purpose of finding this river.
Become friendly with all neighboring tribes. Begin trade, and offer a merge to create the great chinese kingdom. All leaders who join will be part of the Tribal Council who have the last word of the government besides the king. I will *maybe* post a story on our government and some myths. I will play this better then in stjnes5. :)

btw, clubmen in Bronze Age? Dont you mean spearmen?

Yeah, that part got me confused as well (especially since the "clubman" is a prehistoric age unit in EE).

I try to not base the units off of games.

Anyways, I was going to say I would start update, its 2:11 Am (I was on the phone with a really cool girl), but I have decided it really isn't worth it, and I will do it first thing in the morning, which is in like 6 hours anyways, lol.

stJNESX: From Bad to Good
Update 1: 2000bce

Events:

In the grassy rolling hills of England, two tribes fought over the land near a rushing river, cooperatively named Thames. This site was particularly rich in minerals, and was a strategic site for a capital city. As the Angles and the Saxons battled each other, a new arrival, the Welsh, rushed in from the west and almost overran both, destroying much of the two’s civilizations. However, under an Emperor named Joseph, the two tribes united, built the city of London, and counterattacked the Welsh, driving all the way into Wales and finally conquering the eastern part for the better Angle-Saxonian Empire.

The Takirin people were nomads from the east; some call the lands of China, but only in mythical tales that have long since been branded legends and tales with no truth except in parodies. After finally settling along the fertile river of the Rhine, the Takirins displaced the natives already there and built the nation of New Takir.

Along the Ganges River, the people of Bengal, who have lived there nomadically for thousands of years, have finally realized the benefits of agriculture over gathering. The city of Mongla has been established in the rich area, with flood protection to protect from the common monsoons of the area. The Bengal people practice the most modern ways of irrigation and flood control in the world.

The empire of Novgorod, situated in the cold north, was established early on by Ivan I as a federation of the villages so to better prepare for winters and invasions of nomadic barbarians. The federation soon became much more united, with the intricate road system developed throughout the nation, and Ivan soon rose to become the first emperor of Novgorod.

In the rough terrain of the Balkans, the city-state of Athens rises amongst other powerful states of the mountainous region. Known in trade for its exquisite pottery, shipbuilding, olives, and wealth Athens soon comes to dominate Greece in wealth. Then, using this wealth, the city commissions a huge army that united all of Greece, but were stopped finally by the Spartan military machine, whose federation has always been the rival to Athens. Now it is time for the Athenian empire, shall it rise or will the state that past kings have fought to create crumble under the pressure of newly established Macedon and Sparta.

The Hittite people, now a nation in the north, once wondered the areas of Canaan centuries ago. The meeting between the two was the source of great rivalry and battles, where the Canaanites struggled for supremacy and freedom over the Hittite oppressors. Finally, an interbred prince arose to power, claiming lordship over both peoples, and finally they united. The remainder of the Hittites fled north, to established the kingdom of the Hittites.

Gujarat has humble beginnings as a people who fled from persecution from the Bhojas s of the east. After many battles and wars that stretched on for as long as legend tells, the Gujaratis finally were forced from their homeland and trekked west, and wandered for many years until the prophesized white tiger was spotted on a rock, in which the nation of Gujarat was finally established. The beginnings of the established nation was just as hard as the one in the east, some even said they were better off with the Bhojas because of the numerous raids of the people from the Indus Valley continuously ruined crops and burned villages. Finally the army was assembled and led to victory over the Indus by King Chandragupta, and the nation was established as a regional power.

The people of the desert and plains, also known as the Zulu, have finally band together to form Zululand. Why they banded is still a mystery, as even separated they were much stronger then any other threat from around the area.

Cyprus for years had been a trading hub between Egyptian, Phoenician (Canaanite), and Hittite merchants (when they were in Canaan). The three peoples eventually settled the islands, and coexisted peacefully. However, the peace didn’t last for long, and hundreds of years of struggle soon followed between the three, each vying for power over the other two. When all three peoples had kings of great virtue, peace was finally struck, and the modern nation of Cyprus emerged.

The city of Kiev, formally unknown even to the regional tribes, finally assumed power over the region when it was conquered and assimilated by a tribe from the Crimea. Ironically having their king of the same name as the king of Novgorod, the city’s limits were pushed, granaries built, and armies established.

The Minoans, in the past were known for their mercantilism and peacefulness soon came to evolve and protect itself. Early on, even before the people of Athens had established their state, supposed friends, the Mycenaeans, invaded the island of Minoa to plunder it for its great wealth and stature. Finally standing up for itself (in the past raids had also brought devastation to Knossos, the capital), the Minoans built a mighty army and drove the Mycenaeans from the island, never to return again.

In the temperate climate of the Mediterranean, the nation of Masilla arises amongst casual others. A nomadic people, the Masillans came from the sea onboard galleys that were supposedly from a land called Italia in the east. These people were tall, fair skinned, and ready for any trouble that came their way.

Stuck with being in the middle, between a great variation of people in the north and the mighty Athenians to the south, the Macedonians soon needed a unified nation, and fast. Emu the 1st was the first man to step up to the plate, organizing a large army of his native tribe, and led that to conquer and unite the rest of the lands through bloodshed. And thus the nation of Macedon was established in blood.

The people of Siam, formally migrants from the south, arrived on the shores of what would soon become the great city of Bangkok nearly five centuries ago. Since then, they have fought numerous battles with the natives there, and were nearly destroyed until the great Mongkut led an army of nearly half the size of his enemy to victory, and to the establishment of Bangkok. Since then, the nation has flourished through military conquests and victories.

The Romans had come from the east, and in legends they were the Mycenaeans who had conquered Greece and Minoa. After being pushed out by the Athenians, the Mycenaeans found their homeland in the peninsula of Italia, expelling the native peoples to the west, where they formed the state of Masilla. The Romans, after building the magnificent city of Rome, soon came to conquer the largest competitor, Etrusca, before she was able to blink.

Amongst constant struggle, the Chinese have finally prevailed over their competitors and rivals. Establishing Beijing, the most populated city in the world, the Chinese struggle to stay afloat after numerous barbarian invasion and pillages of the city. However, a gallant leader soon arises, and leads the Chinese army to the Yellow River.

Celts used to be very populous throughout all of Europe, nomadic tribes that fought amongst each other. However, as populations of other ethnicities rise, the Celts have been forced to migrate south where they continued to war amongst eachother in Iberia. Finally, the Celts were forced to unite by early African invadors, which they did and finally repulsed the invadors. The nation of Celtia was established in Iberia, as well as the Celt nations of Balearic Kingdom and Gaul.

The Hanseatic League was established by numerous tribes who had one goal in common: the expulsion of the Celts from their lands. The league is brand new, only half a century old, and with large Celt populations still running wild on their borders, the League has work to do.

The Annals of Minoa

It was in 2030 B.C.E. that the Minoan chieftains had finally united under one supreme ruler, King Minos, in the city of Knossos. For years did the Minoans build up. Finally, Minos attacked the Myceneans. The pirateering admiral, by the name of Kastor, under orders of Agamemnon, king of Mycenae, to conduct a routine operation to bring back the wealth of Minoa. They were to land in Knossos.

Minos anticipated this, and told everyone to wait on the rooftops of the houses. The Mycenean soldiers failed to see the Minoans. Suddenly, a shout was heard. "ATTACK!" The Minoan warband jumped down, and the Minoans surrounded the Mycenean plunderers. They were driven back to the sea.

The kingdom of Mycenae had long since been siphoned off to Sparta and Athens. Minos had plans. He refused to be holed up on Crete. Nay, if his people were to become glorious, he would need to expand beyond the seas.

Minos was a simple man, in spite of his wealth. That isn't to say that he didn't indulge in regal luxuries, oh no. But he enjoyed the presence of his people. Most days he would come to the market, and mingle with his people. He enjoyed it, and it served as a morale boost.

The Minoans were also a seafaring people. The chances of them sinking in a terrible storm were far less, as these were only the heartiest of maritime sailors. Indeed, the Minoans were a part of the sea, indulging in fish, squid, octopus, turtle, and urchins. The Minoans loved their seafood.

Minos had his eyes set on four places. Greece, Anatolia, Cyrene, and the Lebanese coast. He figured that holding onto these spots, the wealth of the north, south, east, and west, would inevitably flow into his coffers. Yes, Minoa would be grand one day, but he would need to expand for now.

The Minoans had long since adopted Greek tactics, having hoplons, shields, cuirasses, and the like. The only difference was the crest, which was usually a shade of blue, to represent their affinity with the oceans.

Yes. Truly these are the beginnings of a grand empire. It would inevitably fall in the end, as all empires do, but Minoa shall enjoy a long period of empire. Yes, for thousands of years shall it reign over the earth as a cultural and military power, to unite the world under it's banner. To spread the teachings of it's grand philosophers, to chart worlds unknown.

This is the history of Minoa.

Jason as I already said in Post 36 (Should have made it bigger I guess.): I edited my template a bit. Could you please change it?

The Siamese empire arises once again!!!..... too bad it's stats aren't on the front page...

lol, aaminion i will in a second.

Josef, generally what I did for stJNES5 was I rose confidence when you wrote a lot, and I only would lower confidence when something bad happened to your nation (normal cause for a lower confidence), or I did not get orders. Generally, as long as you give your orders every turn, and not write a story/newspaper/speech/anything about your nation, then your confidence will remain stable.
