It's the fourth of July. As I said in OT:

Happy arbitrarily decided date of birth for the United States of America, because, as you might know, this isn't actually *the* signing of the declaration of Independence (which at any rate only guaranteed that the colonies were going to be independent of britain, it didn't usher in the actual *U*SA), because the signing of the declaration of independence was actually signed over an entire summers worth, IIRC, and July 4 just marks the greatest number of signatories signing on that day... So really it's not that good of a mark of when the nation was born so much as a bunch of people saying they weren't the *same* nation as Britain, but then, who cares about historical trivia, eh? Birthday America!

Basically a chance for people to light explosives on fire.

oh i didnt realise that

You're wrong, though. July 4th was the day all 13 states except New York voted to adopt the Declaration (New York abstained). No signatures were added until August, and the Continental Congress had approved the Declaration on July 2nd.

But it's not the day everyone signed to it. Nor is it the day everyone adopted it. Nor is it the day Continental congress approved it. So I stand by the fact that it's rather arbitrarily decided.

Edit: September 17th would have been a better day, as that was the completion of the Constitution, which actually created the US as the nation as we know it.

And besides, July 4th is rather uselessly placed as a holiday, later in the year would be much better.

Can i send in my orders still?

Yes. You can keep sending them in until I post the update, in fact. Though if you actually do send them later than midnight tonight, I might be somewhat annoyed.

Well folks, this looks like it will be by far the most interesting update yet, kudos to erez, Jason, alex, and BananaLee in particular--the orders I recieved from you guys, and the stories from some of you--were absolutely awesome--and everyone else sent excellent orders as well. :)

But (groaning on cue), I'm not going to do this justice by hurrying it tonight. It will be tomorrow posted, and it should be awesome. :)

heh, north king, you should really hold out on stats before posting the update :) looks like at least one of my plans went through, and now I absolutely can't wait until update.

Yep, my tin mines have collasped :(

OOC: Yap and my mounted 'big' army probably died as well :-\ oh well... I wonder how went for my ally...

Basically a chance for people to light explosives on fire.

Doesn't stand a chance when compared to the Victory Day here, though... Independance Day, however, most people don't notice, neither the American nor the Eltsynian one.

NOTE: noticed the stats: why the hell did I survive? :p

Silence filled the Auditory (or Old) Palace after Ahiram explained yet another one of his divine plans to the generals and the admirals - though the latter were hardly important this time. All were shocked, unsure what to say.

"This plan... is insane." - finally spoke one of the generals.

Ahiram looked at him. Without emotion. Just LOOKED. The general backed away despite himself.

"Insane? Merely beyond mortal comprehension." - said another general. Ahiram smiled.

"Indeed." - he said - "Many of you forget that I AM the Baal... but this one time, I will forgive you all. Many an advisor claimed that my plan for destruction of all rebels was insane... and yet, where am I now, and where are the rebels?"

Silence, again.

"It will be done." - said a third general. They all bowed.

"Pathetic fools. Weaklings. Their fear is beyond belief. But... they ARE Arabs, barbarians. Barbarians are good at fighting, but not at anything else. They conquered my land, but I AM the Baal, and I chose them for my purposes. A country, great country that Syria will be if it survives a few more... centuries, hundreds of years. A country with an army of barbarians led by officers and buerocrats from Phoenicea who govern Egyptian peasants. Arabs, Phoeniceans, Egyptians - all united into one country and divided into three castes. Warriors, Rulers, Workers. And the slaves. The Conquered Ones. That country will be a true land of Baal. Me." - thus thought Ahiram, the Baal-Maluk, as the Arabic generals, conquerors ruled by the conquered, scurried forth to their armies.

Tomorrow, the march to Arabia will begin.
