Um... No. Read his book, it's quite good. ;) Though it does fail to explain why the West advanced ahead of India and China.

well, just what is detailed in his book; from your few short words i assume its just another shoddy treatise on how the west suxxors filled with ignorent barbarians while the east, in his view, is filled with enlightend despots sitting on clouds of cotten candy, and with great candy-cane staffs of joy to the rejoycment of all who may bask in thier golden shadows of complete and iron willied domination over every facet of society.

:vomit:

no thank you, i'll take the west- we have alot of ****ty facets of culture, but at this our damnable mix of peide, greed, honor, and arogence led to the concept of true personal freedom, and democratic government.

Yes, Xen, that's why I don't like it. Arrogance and greed aren't all that bad, but democracy...

I just plain don't like it.

I belive this is the first time I've seen you make good use of irony for good comedic effect, das- bravo, and keep it up

I think that's Xen-talk for "pride".

bingo- das is getting better at Xennese tranlsation ;)

Um, Xen, you're completely, totally wrong. So wrong, it's laughable. So incredibly wrong that words cannot describe. A word of advice--don't assume about books I read, because that was embarrassingly wrong of an assumption.

Read Promises Not Kept then, and you will see that it was capitalism which fueled western technology past India and China.

I completely disagree, and in any case that's a proximate factor, which doesn't explain it thourougly.

Well, some people believe that the over a thousand year long of Chinese strength and power over East Asia had something to do with the mind and how the Chinese people thought. And when the truth became clear, the people in power were too entrenched and mesmerized by the glories of the past and yadda to be able to respond quickly and effectively.

This isn't a dinner table, though, this is a NES. And we're waiting for an update. And acting accordingly...
