being even more mod-friendly and having DLC is a very strange combination.

think it can work if the DLC is actually the possibility to use modified content or they'll try to convince moders of popular mods to sell the mod-rights to them for a share on the profits they make form it.

... or the DLC might actually be engine updates so Civ 5 will be the last Civ but constantly upgraded with DLC... who knows... (after all the biggest concurrent on the market for Civ5 will be Civ4 with its free mods.)

Fallout 3 had DLC and Mods. Basically, the DLC were just forms of drag-n-drop mods (with copy protection), and mods for Fallout 3 were generally compatible with one another (unless they modded the same feature). I suspect Firaxis is heading down a similar route.

The graphics look pretty nice but I'm glad that siege units are finally useless in actual combat (cannon has a normal attack of 10, ranged attack of 26? Nice). Civ5 is shaping up to be pretty good.

Too bad I'm not getting it until RoM reaches its no-longer-straight-line shores.

He must be playing on Quick too. 100 turns in and 1740 AD? Either he's using a Dev Console, playing super fast, or there's advanced start coming along for the ride as well.

Unit buttons look well-drawn as well.

I did see those screenshots, and I am rather pleased. It seems that with a working combat system in Civ5, I can focus on things I enjoy modding more.

After seeing more info about Civ 5 thanks to E3 I am now much more hopeful towards it and am actually looking forward to the game now. I think modding for civ 5 will be a blast and I can't wait to convert over some of my civ 4 mod ideas for civ 5.
