Ok. Got it. Play in a few hours. Keep teching towards CS. Save GE for machinery. Use GG as MI, probably in Um as it looks to be the best unit pump once it regrows. We'll probably get a couple more generals before we finish.
Gem city essentially just gives us gems, maybe check out horse/ivory site. I'd ignore gem city for now, collect scatttered units into a southern army, continue the war against germany.
Full report to follow (Its 1am here and I'm working in the morning).
Germany is gone. Finally got round to establishing the horse/ elephant/ banana city in the jungle. Still trying to amalgamate units into a stack. Finished CS on last turn. set research to MC (10 turns).
hmm I'm having problems opening the save. I just upgraded my BTS to the new patch--wouldn't think that would do anything but not sure what the problem is. Can anyone else open it?
Sorry for not picking this up earlier, but I had an accident Friday night. Nothing serious, but I did get a large facial wound and only 3 hours of sleep. Should have played this by tomorrow.
I finally got around to playing. The pics should speak for themselves:
I also researched Metal Casting, lightbulbed Machinery and started on Engineering although research has been at 0 since the turn Machinery came in to do some upgrades.
I think it's pretty straightforward from here. We should have the AI wiped out before Gunpowder. The only matter up for debate is: should we keep science at 0 to get more upgrades done (already did a lot with plunder) or keep researching Engineering at maximum possible speed?
Got it ... we seems to be nearing the clean up phrase, even though we have yet to see where Japan is .... so, engineering might be necessary to speed things up a little with +1 road movement. I am inclined to continuing research and stop only after engineering is in.
I consider going for OR as well, but decided the benefits is not that significant (plus that means I need to revolt to Jewish as well == 3 turns of anarchy). If we have theocracy, it might be worth revolting to a religion.
Thus, I only did this:
Next, Berlin. Why are we allowing the chariot to run free? We have Impi, kill him.
Speaking of Impi, why do we want to fortify our super-fast-medic in Berlin? Send him to the front or let him go pillage! Well, I did that ... there was some cottages SW of berlin ... these plunders kept our deficit research going.
Finally, someone queued wonders (ToA and Parthenon) behind some cities. I didn't realize it until some hammers were wasted there ... pointless to get anymore wonders (esp ToA -- what for?). Keep pumping troops and game over already. I removed those wonders from the queue.
War Matters
On the chinese front, Mr Mao is now reduced to a single city of Xian after razing two northern cities:
It should be easy ... Although it surprises me to see Mao has an elephant (which was killed by general, see log).
On the English front, she landed a pair of horses near Timbuktu an dpromptly pillaged the copper mine.
Both were killed, but I haven't gotten around to re-mining effort.
Seeing the Chinese campaign is nearing the end, I 'd also started to move pockets of units down south towards England. On their way, they met this:
The next turn (last turn), the stack was gone. I had no idea where they went. Two possibilities: (1) they turned back south, scared by our approaching units -- unlikely; (2) they went NE to pester our newly acquired cities (speaking of which, why did we keep those?) -- so be cautious there. It is unlikely they could slipped pass our troops and threaten Berlin.

I thought there was more (Chinese/Japanese) land to the north, so I kept the cities as forward outposts.
I thought the Wonders were kind of weird too, but somehow managed not to remove them from the queue.
