ROTQM12: Re-enactment Of The Queen Mother

Some good news, Some Bad news: A Report in Pictures

So, the only bad news is that we lost a GGeneral attacking in Germany. :( Other than that, my best set so far!

The new GG is with the group of units near Essen to the south in that last pic. That city should fall next turn. We've got most cities on military production and our workers are running out of things to do, and are roading towards the front.

Curries came in, and after Chemistry, I went towards MilTrad for the Grennies. We can probably split up our army into two at this point and send one east, and one north. Either that Chinese city NE of old Azteca is on a penisula, and our northern army can regroup with us after mopping that area up; or, that sea is a Great Lake and our armies can move toward Mongolia from two directions.

Our science is still set to 0 as I thought we could tech and build up our cash to upgrade.

Perfect timing ... stupid dogs are up and 5am and so am I :(

teaser ...

While attacking in French territory at Hamburg, Isoroku Yamamoto loses to French Knight (1.20/10) (Prob Victory: 96.7%)

I played 10 turns. My aim was to get us to rifles so that we could build cavalry. I don't want to see any rifles built! Upgrade is ok ... especially if it is a City Raider III unit :).

So I spent the first part of my first turn playing with the tech screen ...

Those turn counters are misleading ... if you click on the end tech, then each tech in the chain gets logged ... but with the turn counter from the first tech. Anyway ... to get to Rifling would take 15 turns at 100% tech and -450gpt ... we had about 1800g so I could tech at 100% for about 4 turns. This will be a tough ask.

But before I get to that ... lets check the quest situation ... holy mountain. We need 14 Jewish buildings to get a hint ... we had 13. WHIP ... did I say 13, I meant 14. Here is our holy mountain ... which would be in our land next turn. Reward ... it should have been additional cities turned Jewish. But that didn't happen. Excellent quest :(.

Other observations about the game ...

... ohhh great scientist was born ... and burnt for 3250ish beakers to Education - shaved 4 turns off my rifle push. City Raider III unit with mobility so he can keep up with the horses - nice. And France has knights :(.

Also ... I don't like Trebuchets ... but everytime the game gets back to me, we are making them. I prefer the cheaper cats - either way, I am going to turn them into toothpicks attacking cities ... and Cats get better collateral than Trebuchets.

I whipped my fav city again. Firstly so that we could finish an forge and add +1 hammer. Then I built a Jewish building (cheaper) so that it could add +2 hammers.

I also built some spies to look-see into China and France (red circles below)

And I set a way-point because I got sick of moving units from the cities. Alt click on a city to highlight ALL cities, then right click on a square - you get a yellow circle which is your way-point. Every new unit will automatically head to that location. To remove way-points, select the city and right click on the city square.

Finally, I micro managed our nation to have enough gold to finish liberalism in two turns ... and select RIFLING as the free tech. BTW ... the taj mahal is still available - we should try and pick that up.

Also ... by the end of the set, I could see value in CRIII Trebs. They rock at taking cities.

Here is the log and the save ...

similar situation with the GG i lost, not too mention a couple another unit at 95%+ odds. bleck.

Was the GG you lost a super medic? Why do we upgrade medics to the latest unit. Keep them as dumb old chariots and then they never, ever defend.

First things first, how close to winning are we?

Pretty close!

Was going to go 100% culture but why not do this first

And this as well

Take some more cities and...

Replay attached.

Ended up not being too difficult but always enjoyable.

Thanks for the game.

Greetings former SG compatriots/brethren! It is I, Lobsterboy, returning to CF after a long hiatus! I'm glad to see you boys are still at it!

Any further adventures of the HMS Davey Jones and her hirsute crew would interest me greatly, if you've got room on the roster. Although I'll warn you - my Civ skills have probably ossified considerably since our last adventure.

Best regards to all!

Count me in.
