Subdued Animals in C2C discussions

@Dancing Hoskuld

Some of your text is wrong/wonky ...

1. The Subdued Reef Shark says "Tall Tales About Sharks". I think that's suppose to be building text not unit text. It should say "Subdued Reef Shark"

2. The text for the Komodo Dragon is missing. It says now TXT_KEY_UNIT_KOMODO. I think you forgot to included the text i provided for it. It should say "Komodo Dragon".

3. Subdued Giant Lizard should say "Subdued Komodo Dragon". Note if you want a Monitor Lizard I can make one of those too. I think i have the model and texture for one.

EDIT: I also noticed you did not update your Zebra model to the new one I have for ya. Don't forget to use the new model from this post.

1 & 3 are as intended for now. It is all part of my plot to change the subdue mechanism for sea critters. It is not the actual shark that is subdued early on but stories about it. That will change at Whaling and Marine Biology.

2. Yes, I noticed. I have a bunch of stuff ready for phase two release but have to test the python a lot more.

4. I do on mine but I am leaving it until I get the "new" zebra units in.

Thx, well on the subject of animals, since your from the "Land Down Under" what is the difference between a Wallaby and a Kangaroo?

I think there is a song about a Wallaby, something with "Tan me hide when i died Clyde" something in that area?

Wallabys are much smaller. Also there are Wallaroos which are half way between Kangaroos and Wallabys.

I had a marsupial obsession as a little kid.

And I think I could provide a wallaby model and texture if its wanted.

They had something on the Wild Kingdom yesterday about a "white" really really small looking "like" kangaroo/wallaby? Even before that Jack Hanna never even seen one?

Wallabys are also surprisingly happy in different climates. A bunch of them escaped from a zoo in England 40 or so years ago and there is a successful wild population in the area now that is doing well.

@Dancing Hoskuld

I noticed you made a new myth called "Myth of the Rodent" and used a rabbit. Rabbits are lagomorphs not rodents. Beavers are however rodents, so that at least was correct. Here are some new icon/buttons for myth buildings. Please use the new "Chipmunk" icon/button for the "Myth of the Rodent" instead since it is indeed a rodent. Included are ...

- Armadillo
- Bongo
- Chipmunk
- Dolphin
- Goat
- Hippo
- Kangaroo
- Llama
- Vulture
- Wolverine

Hopefully these will help you in some way for future myth buildings.

Who said anything about rabbits. I was going to use the rodent myth for beavers, rats and kangaroos.:mischief:

The icon had a picture of a rabbit. And you should also know better that kanagroos are not rodents either. ;P

I can provide other rodents if you want such as squires and stuff. I just was not sure if they were wanted due to their small size. Same goes for small birds like ducks and stuff. Zoo Tycoon 2 has proven to be a treasure trove of useful animal models. Especially for the sea animals, which was majorly lacking.

We do need rabbits to correspond to the resource I think. (I really liked that resource... or have we removed it due to reaching numeric limits there again?)

Harmless creatures to hunt would be a good thing to certainly add more of as long as we can add them without any power but the possibility of escaping battle with withdrawal.

But what I think we REALLY need is some ancient and now extinct animals from the mammoth, sabretooth tiger era that get eliminated as time goes on... I recall something about a really giant duck fossil being found in Australia... and that's just scratching the surface of that era. If we can develop that era of wildlife it would go a long ways towards improving the 'feel' of the early era.

Still, I'm just in love with most of the new animals we've included... so nice to see real sharks out swimming about ;)

I would recommend considering Giant Sloths for a popular animal that goes extinct that was around recently. If a 3d model could be found/made.

They disappeared relatively recently, are pretty interesting animals, and could possibly be still around; there apparently have been lots of possible sighting throughout South America.

I would also consider looking through lists of cryptozoolgical animals, or animals with possible sightings. I think they would be an interesting addition to gameplay.

at the very least you could put the more 'iffy' or less plausible ones in a alternate timeline, or perhaps a 'mythological' era to toggle for those who want to play with them. You already have sea serpents and the kraken, which would be nice to have in a toggleable era/alternate timeline for those who want them. It would be fun to see 'nessie' the lochness monster in such a context.

I would also add Homo floresiensis or the "hobbit man" to the neanderthals

and also
the Denisovians

That were just as instrumental to early man as the neanderthals.
They are now proven to have been around less then 10,000 bc.

LOVING the new animals in play though hawks and eagles may be spawning too much (and yeah... neanders... too many. But we know that and are working on it already I realize.)

Neanderthal Spawn revised and pushed.

I think DH is still working on the animal spawn rate. With Raging Barbs on, I saw tile to tile animals. Especially bird-types.

Thanks Eldrin!

Btw... we haven't seen ANY mammoths or sabretooths at any point during our game... I'm wondering if they're out of the spawn pool at the moment?

Both are there. I have seen sabretooths but since I am equatorial in the last few very short games I haven't seen any mammoths. Both start to disappear (stop spawning) about 4000-2000 BC.
