Suggestions for Dynamic Names

The Emirate of Cordoba was an independent Muslim principality which existed from 756 until Abd Ar-Rahman III proclaimed Cordoba to be a Caliphate in 929. I therefore submit the following suggestions:

Moors as a vassal of Arabia: Province of Andalusia
Independent Moors under dynasticism: Emirate of Cordoba
Indepent Moors under Theocracy: Caliphate of Cordoba

The first one is already a part of my vassal additions, and the other two are already in the game.

Just waiting on Leoreth's approval. And his email, so I can send him the files.

Byzantium could be called 'Emirate of Rum' too. They're already called so when they're vassals of Turkey, IIRC.
I disagree that Byzantines should be Emirate of Rum in the first place.

Leoreth's email is somewhere in the version history files ... I definitely remember seeing it.

It's in RFC Dawn of Civilization/Version History/Dawn of Civilization README.txt

I can't upload those kind of files. I could of I emailed it though. It'd also make it a lot easier for me.

Package them to a RAR or ZIP archive and upload it here.

I think that "American Peoples" should be changed to "American Colonists." The former doesn't sound right.

And what happened to "Batavian Peoples?" I liked it better than "Dutch Peoples."

I feel like it is sort of wrong to call a protestant nation by its Roman name, especially with the later spawn date. I think Dutch is better than Batavian and less controversial than Hollandic.

^^What if there are no colonies on the East Coast? Then "Colonists" really doesn't feel right. "Peoples" feels less wrong in this scenario.

Doesn't "peoples" usually imply some kind of ethnic tie though? The Germans are a people, the English are a people, the Japanese are a people, Americans are more of a combination of peoples aren't they?

Didn't they call themselves Romans?

Yes. The Emirate of Rum was a turkish kingdom that was fighting the Byzantines and was around Ankara.

Already, I bloody found out how to do it :gripe:

Yes. The Emirate of Rum was a turkish kingdom that was fighting the Byzantines and was around Ankara.

But it was called Rûm because they were located in Asia Minor. The Arabic word Rûm, I believe, originates from the Greek word Rhomanoi, or Romans, and that Rûm is thus that Arabization of that.

But the Ottomans never installed an emir to govern their Byzantine vassals, they left the Byzantine emperor in charge. Therefore, Roma İmparatorluğu (Turkish for "Roman Empire") would be the more proper dynamic name for the Byzantines as vassals of the Ottomans.

If the Moors are driven out of the Iberian Peninsula, and are vassals to the Arabs, then "Emirate of Al-Andalus" isn't quite right. Might I suggest "Emirate of Al-Maghreb".
