SysNES 1: A Murky Pool of Light

Question; Did I lose population?

Second, map errors; Some troop placement problems which I'll tell you about in my orders and also the Beta hab in the outer Minkar System is on the wrong planet :)

Since 41<44 I would assume so? The effect massive military recruitment has on the labour force is obviously complex and non-linear, huge ground armies have drawbacks.

Apart from the 2 missing from VIa I don't see any - there is a well know spatial anomoly there after all!

Yes; but the rules said less than System Population:

1) Recruiting more than [System Population] divisions in a single turn will result in population loss, as you can't just magic divisions out of nowhere (though a division is rather smaller than a population point).

I mean otherwise I would have kept it lower :/

I also had thoughts more along the lines of CiV with them being unhappy with NO defence in a city :p

Two things, my Bank balance is wrong; I don't have 87 in my Minkar (should have 8), but I do have 98 in Zavi

Sorry about that, thought I'd updated it last update (must have missed in the rush) - its now a random variable scaled by the amount you recruit. You are correct on the other matter, now updated.

Thats REALLY thrown my plans off; can you go through the archive I set up after the last update and ensure its all up to date? ;) And possibly reward my hard work :p

Fantastic update. Sort of glad my commanders did what they did...but hey, I was just following orders. :p

Annoying that I lost both my cutters; the update is unclear though, as it says at some points that I only lost one ship.

Finally, some questions on tech transfers. If a tech is transferred in a field where you have a research center, is the s from the RC subtracted from the total s cost before or after the tech trade costs are calculated? Also, I'm under the impression that the Gardeners transferred Math II this turn, so I think that the s cost in the chart should be 6 instead of 30.

Chalk it up to shoddy writing. RC and your current research investment in a field have no bearing on transfered technology. You just need to pay the 6s and 6e now and you'll get Maths 2. You could also if you liked pay 30s to discover it the hard way (which is the one shown on the tech chart).

Gotcha. I was just making sure that if someone transferred a tech field I had an RC in, I couldn't use the RC s towards paying the reduced cost. I guess it's just automatically applied to the research cost for the next level, then. Also, did I lose a population point?

Ugh you've got to be kidding me. Invisible rules suck and I was just going off what was written on the front page ><

And I am both natural warriors and relaxed, the dissent really is not making much sense =/

Oh Dis, one more thing, you said you'd get that trade network matrix out; any sign of it?

I want to see how good my relations with the Vazan and the system sharing has helped me out :p

Learn to read dude, for the next update after this one was said last intermission. ;)

@Kraznaya, 'slight' does mean slight you know - you also supplied no real rationale to your people for the move.

I think dis recognizes the necessity of giving the front page a facelift at this point. :p Also, wtb fertility drugs...seriously.

Maybe - might do it if I shift to a new thread in tandem with a graphics upgrade, especially now its approaching a thousand posts.

What the...b? As odd as it may seem for all you rampant expansionists, this isn't the middle ages and raising a child to be productive member of a space faring culture takes time and resources, and parents have little desire to compromise their standard of living for the state. You use fertility drugs and you'll just get a bunch of mouth-breathers to feed which won't even show up in the stats (since thats economically active population).

How long until we get access to cloning?

Hollywood cloning or real cloning? Since a) real cloning is pretty much just as if not more costly in resources than raising an naturally generated individual, b) mental and physical development depends tremendiously on environment so cloning a genius is going to produce guarnteed results and c) in frontier societies like your own restricting the gene pool with clones is going to pretty much be regarded as worse than incest...I'm going to say no/its not revelent at the level of the game mechanics.

Hollywood cloning is stupid as is anyone who suggests it ;).
