Teach me and you. Give me a gem.

Sidney Magal: "... sofisticated ..."

It's okay by me that English isn't your native tongue, Brazilian, but maybe, just maybe, you should invest in a dictionary of your own.

You realise that of course that Portugese is spoken in Brazil and you said Brazilian for comedy effect... right?

  1. Mr. Magoo claims to be located in Brazil.
  2. People from Brazil are typically referred to as Brazilians.
  3. Therefore, I respectfully called Mister Magoo a “Brazilian”, Herr Alki.
;)

194. “One flew east, one flew west, One Flew Over the ****oo’s Nest

In order to hasten discovering that the earth is spherical, upon learning the Compass technology, build or promote two Scouts into Explorers, and station these in your extreme east & west port cities. As soon you achieve Optics, immediately build Caravels in the aforementioned cities, have your Explorers board their respective vessels, then launch them in opposite directions (send eastern ship toward the east; western ship due west). Sail your respective ships on that vector as far as you can, then unload your Explorers on the shores of the primary “New World” landmass, and have ‘em continue on in the same direction until they (hopefully) reach a common longitude, thereby proving “The earth is round.”

This will provide the first civilization to do so a valuable +1 naval vessel movement bonus.

Godspeed, y'all! :D
To speed this up slightly, build triremes and have them at your east/west locations; then upgrade them to caravels. This is a cheap upgrade and
and can save several turns if your border cities don't have a lot of production.

Play as JC, build praets and for every three you promote with city raider give one combat for eventual shock, conquer the world.

Good call, Admiral Deckhand. See? Oversights like these are why I can't seem to progress past 'Prince', while you and others routinely win in 'Deity'.

I enjoy being smacked around by Deity AI's, so take my tips with a grain of sanity if possible. :crazyeye::crazyeye::crazyeye:

195) How to trade with a Pariah AI: Make precisely equal trades.

Worst enemy of Mansa, Montezuma, and Isabella? Has a Juicy tech you must have? No Problem! Simply place one or two of your techs that are in total roughly equal in value to the one he has. Then click: What will make this deal work?

If he adds some fraction of his gold or wants some fraction of yours, you have an exactly equal trade and accept it. You get no "you have traded with our worst enemies" diplo penalty with the civs who hate his guts. You can also sell techs to him that he is almost done researching for gold this way safely.

If he adds all his gold Don't do it! That means the AI ran out of stuff to give you to reach an equal trade and is getting a good deal. That also means +diplo for you with him and -diplo" you traded with our worst enemies" from everyone else if you accept it.

196) Theocracy can block religious victory.

If the AI is hogging a religion and builds the AP, it can't vote itself a cheese victory if it cannot spread its religion to at least one of your cities.

197) If you are hopelessly behind in Tech but have a Holy City, an espionage economy and cleverly gifting a border city away (or leaving it defenseless while at war) can get you back in the game.

23. The AI is strategic idiot. Take advantage of it:

Examples:

a. I take an important AI city, but in the process I lose all my units except 5 badly damaged ones. The AI has 15 units of comparable strength 2-3 turns away from the city I just took. This is a good time to make peace.

b. Once, I had an army of praets and catapults in India. Then I watched a Chinese army of a gazillion war elephants, catapults, and swordsman march by, TO ATTACK A BARBARIAN CITY OF SIZE 3 IN AFRICA. Once the army was safely in Africa, where there are no roads, I attacked China, and took Beijing before the army got back. I then made peace when their army was on the doorstep of Thebes, which was defended by two pikemen.

200. Build a Worker first, and research a worker tech that lets you improve your surrounding land.

I got #200! :w00t: Hopefully, nobody posted anything like this yet.

If you're not spiritual, time your technological advances to certain civics to take advantage of Golden Age periods so you have no anarchy. Taj Mahal is especially useful for this (you can get it right before you're getting Liberalism and Democracy).

Never underestimate the power of citizens under Representation (if you have the Pyramids). This is one of the tactics for war-mongerers, especially of the Roman variety. Yeah, sure, you feel stupid sitting with there two dozen non-productive cities (you feel like the worst ruler in the universe), but the reason you took the cities in the first place is TO DENY THE ENEMY THE CITIES.

The AI has an expansion period where they're settling cities, and not building military units. If you can hit them during that phase, you'll crush them. This is another reason praetorians are so awesome.

NOOOOO!!!! Steal a worker with a warrior. And you'd be surprised at far how you can go without 90% of the worker techs. (Pottery? Bleh. Who needs that?) If you've got nothing better to research, beeline straight to Alphabet.

In NC71 that's not the case, you're not always guaranteed to have a close neighbour.
I need Pottery. Research... cottages. ;) Ag is essential, and Mining is on the Bronzeworking path anyway.

204) Try to run your economy to the ground in a revolution mod and see how far you will go.
205) Never underestimate your opponent's might.
206) A great economist listens to his people first, then to his general.

(Welcome back, Max.)

Continuing the the thread necromancy...

207. Before declaring war, zoom out and click the helmet icon above the mini-map. Check for any stray units your future enemy might have roaming about. If you find any, be prepared to deal with them. They will show up to pillage.

i'm too lazy to read the entire thread, but when you're trading techs with the ai, see if you can cheat them a little bit by tweaking the terms a little bit in your favor, like maybe asking them for extra gold or subtracting one of the cheaper techs they want from your side of the offer.

One side note: If you do this you will probably miss the diplo bonus and penalties. (traded with worst enemies / our trade relations have been fair) So use this with caution

209. Intercept enemy SODs by occupying forests, hills, or forested hills in the likely path of advance. The advancing seige will be useless to lower your defense bonus, so if your enemy wants that tile they're going to have to work for it. If they take heavy losses in siege to do it, they may not be able to sustain their advance. If the stack moves around you instead, you can now attack it from multiple sides, making it more vulnerable to flanking.

Corollory to above: Bring in reinforcements out of their vision range if they march through alot of your culture, then hit them with everything as soon as they walk into a clear spot. Mobile warfare at its best.

Corollory to the above: Razing ministacks usually only takes 1 seige to make it a mop-up operation. If only a single unit is used. it is simple to crush it with its counter and refortify the tile.
