Team Game #2 - OCC Conquest only

We have an academy ~~
Chaos report..the evil Portus finally were punished for stealing our mounts.

Ironically we won 2 tuff battles, and then lost against a lowly Sword (i always promoted, not taking risks)
Meanwhile Cathy has solid defenses..

We take some easy fights against HAs and chariots, and peak into Braga
Spoiler :
braga-jpg.517090
Moving back & gathering all our units on the hill (Conqs get defensive bonuses), our advisor suddenly shouts out: our horsies! They are stolen again, their borders expanded! And yup, Braga now..next turn we look again, see 3 longbows and attack:

2 losses at 70% + odds, not too good. But our animals are liberated again, and we can 1-turn Conqs from now.
A look at Madrid, i would suggest starving some more GP points out while we golden age.
Well not starving down, but using some food :)

Chopped 1 forest for prod help, looks goodie overall i doubt we need Police State.
With Rep we can continue teching better.
We may actually want to lose 1 pop, if no more health resi trades can be recovered.
Oh and Genghis also joined in, against Brennus..nice little world war started.

Nice work .

If you can get AP involved...you could potentially start a thousand-year blood war amongst everyone like I did in the Hannibal iso game, and essentially make AI stacks a nonfactor from here on out .

Saturday night, and still no update? Is everyone really that busy during this horribly cold season?

I would love to play some turns... BUT...
I am absolutely crap at warfare, so I haven't got the foggiest idea what to do.
Any help/tips/guidelines appreciated.
@krikav ... why don't you play some turns? ;)

I haven't opened the game and analyzed it, but I think the plan would be to continue to crash a few cities of the portugese Hatty, untill she is ready to capitulate.
Gaining war success by destroying units7workers/cities, while at the same time avoiding losing units of our own.

"Combat beats flank"!

But we had agreed at the end of that never ending debate that...

  1. Combat is for those GOING for the WIN.
  2. Flank is for those TRYING not to LOSE.

In this game, aren't we TRYING not to LOSE it? Ahah!

Gonna be hard to cap...AFAIK AIs only cap when their score is below yours. With just one city you're gonna need to burn a whole lotta stuff down before she's willing to even consider it.

I will play on in the coming days then, and think our overall plan should be:
a) losing as few Conqs as possible (so never taking lower than 50% odds until we have many more)
b) looking for opportunities only for now, not planning huge attacks. Hatshy's 2 cities had to be burned for our horsies :)
c) looking out for dangerous AI developments, Hatshy was running away a bit so our attack did fit in well even if we lose some Conqs
d) keeping science as good as we can, imo we should look at cannons next (we also have citadel for really powerful ones).

While Cavs are tempting and normally natural after Cuirs, Conqs are certainly powerful enuf to support cannons very well (esp with def bonuses, if we move smart against large stacks). Without OCC, Cavs would be an easy pick cos we could just win this game with mounted masses only, but with 1 unit / turn i think CR3 cannons will shine and keep most of our units alive.

Having a family situation here currently,
and will have to adopt lurker status for now (and overall with gaming, and free time).

Would be nice if somebody else feels like continuing, no pressure thou.

Work life is getting into the way for me, but on Fridays I consider that my private game-night, and do a quick-speed run of OCC on Immortal to re-learn stuff I've forgot, and try different things out (unrestricted leaders gets interesting combos). I will keep lurking here in the meantime, but wouldn't want to touch this style of OCC with a 12-foot rifleman. I prefer to wait for Mech-Inf before I do my first PUSH. :P

The problem is if you wait that long, the AI may have stumbled to a victory condition by then.

Actually downloaded and checked out the last save. Little idea what your plans are though and don't want to mess up your stuff after apparently playing this game for half a year. Good luck with the game.

I have more time again (soon), and might play on but i have to say..i will probably do so alone, so we can wrap this one up.
In all honesty, a team game cannot work if peoples have too much respect vs. possible mistakes or not doing everything perfectly.
You (not meaning anyone in particular, and not responding to your post Pangaea :)) would not be messing up "my stuff" cos i never viewed this as my game. I did those before, they are not special to me.

That "your" was meant as plural btw, but I see your (singular) point. I like the idea of these games, and came over the Cookbook thread the other day too, which is sort of similar. A forum effort to improve and learn and have fun together.

As promised i continue, but i re-considered with playing alone..if somebody feels an itch ;)
Otherwise i aim at making a new report each 1-2 days (not playing further).

First some soft good night music for this kind of game, inspired by Pangaea in another thread :band:

What happens when you conquer a city? Are you allowed to keep it? Do you have to raze it?

Can you keep it and gift it back to the original owner once you vassaled him?

If my memory serves me correctly, it's auto-razed.
If you culture flip one, it is auto-razed also.
