Team Game #2 - OCC Conquest only

A few more calculations...

Going for Oracle (Code of Laws) with a Great Scientist for an Academy will result in The Great Library finished around t111.
2nd GP at t96 and 3rd GP at t110. I haven't used these in the calculations.
Civil Service ready at t108.

Going for Oracle (Code of Laws) with a Great Engineer (settled) will result in The Great Library finished around t109.
2nd GP at t95 and 3rd GP at t108. I haven't used these in the calculations.
Civil Service ready at t113.

Going straight for The Great Library will give a finish date at around t109. Assuming first GP is a Scientist for an Academy.
2nd GP at t98 and 3rd GP at t110. I haven't used these in the calculations.
Civil Service ready at t112.

Going straight for The Great Library with a Great Engineer settled will give a finish date at around t108.
2nd GP at t97 and 3rd GP at t111. I haven't used these in the calculations.
Civil Service ready at t119.

Going for Oracle will help us a lot getting Civil Service earlier! Only drawback is the possible Great Prophet we might get. But still 2:hammers:5:gold:. Not that bad in OCC. And with Representation and Bureaucracy it will be 3:hammers:5:gold:3:science:.
At some point we want :hammers: for our army and :gold: to fund them. We even can use the :gold: in trades if necessary.

Let's get this going again :)
(was busy here too)

Tonny you make great calculations, and i think you should go ahead and play a bit.
Hopefully we get some more contributions from peoples who seemed interested in this game again..!
Ofc you dun have to take analysis as fas as Tonny, and it's very much just a funsies game, but there must be something that can be added?

I also hope that more players get interested to contribute and play.
I will play a turn set 12 hours after writing this.
Going for the Oracle route...

This could be one of the shortest turnsets here... But enough happened...

t73 1080BC
I deleted 2 warriors leaving woody and the 2xp alive.
Made a trade with Suryavarman. Mathematics for Sailing and Polytheism. Setting research for Priesthood.
Madrid switches Copper to a Farm for 2t growth. Building Aqueduct.

First:
Spoiler Hatty :

t74 hatty asks help with war.JPG

I respectfully declined.

Second:
Spoiler Genghis :

t74 genghis demands math.JPG

Well, if you insist...
t74 genghis pleased now.JPG

He's pleased now.

Third:
Spoiler Brennus :

t74 oracle is built.JPG

Oracle is out of the question now...
t74 brennus wonders.JPG

And that's it for now...

I suggest an immediate switch for Aesthetics and Literature and The Great Library.

At least Brennus did that early, was worth a try :)

We had to give Genghis maths yup, should we get IW from Cathy?
Maths will be mostly gone now.

Green from me for Aesth route,
2 scientists for Academy chance push next turn still looks goodie.

We could make some resi diplo trades, giving Cathy copper for health,
Hatshy wheat as gift, Brennus cows maybe..
think it's unlikely that we need copper for Axes.

That still leaves us with some extra gold... Don't we trade this away?
Why don't we trade Wheat for Corn or Pig with Hatty? Is it because of diplo?

Let's go into Representation immediately. Those 2 scientists will then add 3:science: each more to our research.

Let's try Math for IW indeed.

Now we don't have any worker actions planned.
Let us at least hook up the 2nd cow and start pre-chopping.

I also suggest to switch our city build to the Lighthouse (4 turns at 15:hammers: per turn) when we are growing for 1t and running scientists for 3t.

Can take something from Hatshy sure,
i sometimes keep resis when i have double, so they can demand them (easy diplo, no harm giving).

Pre-chopping sounds good, i would not spend forests on HG..they are okay, but nothing too important.
No opinion on lighthouse :)

Perhaps even go GLH? Apart from the golds and lake there is NO commerce on this start at all so every little bit helps...besides we have hammers to burn.

I've been away on holidays for most of the last weeks. I'll have a look at the save tomorrow and see what I think about the next turns. Pity about the Oracle, but at least it went early enough.

GLH gives bad GPP.
I think we should currently either build the lighthouse or aquaduct+HG. I prefer lighthouse, we can use another good 3f tile.

I agree with switch to Rep and running 2 scientists for a short time in the hope of popping a GS.
Also agree with switching to Aest->Lit right away.

I could play tomorrow.

Is GM really bad tho...

Settle for gold and food which we sure as heck need on this start (the gold will be later useful for funding way more units than our supply lasts) or trade mission for 1700g that can be used for mass upgrade or buy some techs. Also combined with Glib you’d still have 60% chance, maybe more, for a GS every time.

I dislike going for GLH first, since it is a massive investmest of 200:hammers: without production bonuses and only gains 4:commerce:/turn immediately. Thus it takes about 50 turns before breaking even.
I opt for Lighthouse first followed by Aqueduct and HG. When GLH is still available we might go for it then.

Keeping the gene-pool clean with engineers and scientists we still can use the GP for gold. GE (3:hammers:) and GS (1:hammers:). Those :hammers: can be used in multiple ways. Production or gold or science. I value that more than pure 6:gold: from a GM. In my experience :gold: is never a problem in OCC games.
Furthermore the extra :science: from the GE and GS compared to a GM gives techs faster which can be sold for :gold:.
On the other hand I must agree with @Undefeatable that a GM is not that bad. The 1:food: can't be neglected. We're starving for :food:.

Let's go Aesthetics->Literature :thumbsup:

turn 74: Make resource trades
switch to lighthouse
switch to aesthetics
Mathematics for Iron Working with Cathy
Revolt to Representation
Workers -> road cow, 1x farm grassland

Turn 76: The Great Lighthouse has been built :)
2x scientists instead of gold to speed up GS.

Turn 79: Great Scientist born :) Academy
Switch 2x scientists to farm and lake (2f) to hit growth

Turn 80: Growth + finish lighthouse, lake now 3f. Working all good tiles again.

Turn 81: Temple of Artemis build abroad

Turn 82: Cathy asks us to join her war, refuse.
Starting hanging gardens (8) as placeholder, end turnset.

By the way, there's a warrior close to our capitol, I didn't know what to do with him. Did we have specific plans?

It might be good to assess the diplomatic situation at some point, with a war going on and Brennus with a red fist.

Had a quick look

Why don't we stop growing for now and run 2 scientists while building the hanging gardens. It will let us grow to max size and it boosts our science significantly.

Calculations:
t86 Aesthetics done.
t90 Literature done.
t92 Hanging Gardens with 10:hammers: overflow ready growing to size 11. Extra pop works forest for 20:hammers:/turn.
t95 GP born.
t97 CoL done.
t109 Great Library ready with 0:hammers: overflow.
t110 GP born.
t112 Civil Service done.

What's the chopping plan? I prechopped some forests marked by notes. Naively, I would say that chopping into HG is better than chopping into the Great Library, as long as our overflow from HG goes into the Library (that is, literature is done in time), since chopping into HG means earlier population growth.

I think it could be best to do a turnset until either end of HG or completion of Literature, given how the surroundings might still change.
