Team MAVERICKS

The people who set up the game want to make only one round of requests to the mods. That's the reason for waiting. But someone said it'll be set up very soon (few days.) cool!

Hi guys. I'm really new to these forums, but not to Civ4! I've been playing for a while, and would love to join your team. I'd would like to watch and learn from those more experienced than me, while inputting my own knowledge to the team's benefit.
Lakers>Mavs btw :D

I find it also strange that private forums are still not available. You'd think this should be a priority.

Anyhow, again I have no interest in discussing open-strategy here. However, I would like to say I think our dedicated Turn-Player should primarily rely on DMOC, since I'd like to feel our micro-management is optimal and I can trust it. Since he has a few deity games under his belt I don't think anyone would argue with this. Or is there someone who objects?

I second that, I'm only monarch/emeror level player. I would like to try to be turn player later on, after I fix my computer, which I don't think is gonna happen anytime soon (but maybe before we have team forum:lol:).

Until then, I'm just a wingman (I even changed my avatar in that respect).

I third it...currently I'm getting my butt kicked on monarch...

I definitely agree with obsolete in that we should mainly be relying on DMOC (and obsolete himself) as the senior members of the team to carry the final casting vote on most of the main decisions we make.

I'm not sure it matters quite so much who the designated turn player is - for the most part, it'll be whoever has the time. Hopefully we'll have most things planned down to reasonably minute details (you would hope so with a 48 hour timer, or even a 24 hour timer) and for the turn player it'll just be a case of carrying through orders.

The request has been put in for private forums, it's a question now of waiting until the mods have a free minute to physically install them. Once they're up we can start discussion of our civilization, along with very general focuses about which direction we want to head towards out of the gate. I'm sure there'll be a while to wait for the map (and strategy discussion will be limited as the first rule of civ, after all, is 'play the map') but we can discuss very generic and grand strategy ideas as soon as we get the forum, I guess...

Thanks for the vote in confidence, everyone. :) My reputation (if I have one ... ) on this forum largely relies on my single player experience, and I'm trying to build up a multiplayer one, so this will be an exciting experience for me.

I won't be able to do as much data crunching as in the Apolyton DemoGame for Team RB but I'll do my best.

I will try to help out with the number crunching. I can also maybe handle the diplomancy correspondance.

By the way... maybe for a good old joke, we should change our team name to the Templars?

As long as you didn't have the same foreign policy I guess... Although the choice of name might unnecessarily antagonise relations with those who participated in that old demogame. :p (I'm not sure if anyone who actually played in that game is playing in this one...??)

I think Donovan Zoi is on team Merlot.

Yup, famous Donovan Zoi one man team Banana is in this game.

And we can change the name to Templars, but I think it would be an effort to play as bad as they played their game.

No pun intended.

I was hoping that I will see team forums up today. It's going to be looooooong day at work.

Agreed. Most logical choice with no risks of any "wars" within our team on who's the boss. Ultimately the rest of us acts as a council to DMOC, which respectfully is our leader since he started the team that is . I'm behind you 100% boss.

ps: I've noticed some discussion circling the subject of specific roles, i.e. diplomat, mathematician, etc. Will there occur some kind of sign up for such posts when the forum is up? I presume you would like to evaluate the person that will take a specific role so you know if the person both has time and energy to do it... and is qualified. hahahahah :D

pps: I've got some ideas for specific roles that could prove to be useful if they are to be implemented, but such discussion is more suited on the team forum when available.

This is my feeling as well. I certainly have input, but will patiently hold my tongue until we are free from prying eyes. ;)

If you'll have me, I'll join this team! No MP experience (well, unless you count being on Team Cav for the last three months as a lurker since I joined way too late to have any idea what was going on), but I have SGOTM experience on team Smurkz for the past three/four games if that counts for anything.

Indeed thats' what I was worried about. We could end up getting dog-piled from the start, just out of some SPITE/payback from others wanting revenge...

I'm new to this, so I'm not quite up to date on all of the subtleties and rules, but how about we WorldBuilder in a stack of Modern Armors on turn 1.

That's legal, right?

Yup, just like it's legal to WB your opponents onto one square starting islands...

:sarcasm:
