The Art of NESing (Image Intensive)

That's also a possibility, but remember those single-nation NESes - such as Nessos. I didn't participate, but it was succesful before it died. Something like that could work, IMHO.
I got something like that in the works....again.

Don't really understand much in modern American/Anglospheric fantasy, though I do greatly like Roger Zelazny (pretty hard to make a NES out of the Chronicles of Amber, though; however, the situation with the Lord of Light (basically, mixture of science fiction with Hindu mythology and fun stuff like zombie crusaders with death rays and a technocratic Buddhist revolution opposed by "divine"-led hordes of Hindu Luddites) is better in that regard, I think I even posted such an idea in one of those idea threads). I mostly concentrate on Polish and Russian books nowadays.

I find the modern fantasy genre incredibly tacky. Atleast, in America.

Try reading a Song of Ice and Fire. It's not a Tolkien rewrite. And Feist seems good, even though he *is* a Tolkien rewrite.

Well, I've read favorable reviews on the writer of a Song of Ice and Fire (in Time Magazine, no less), but I've never really read fantasy books before (I know, I know "dont judge a book by its cover rah rah rahrahblahblah) besides some science fiction a few years back.

Feist is amusing, but Martin is on a whole other level than him, in terms of plot, language, and intelligence...

But this is spam. We should talk about this on the What are You Reading? thread...

When modding the Nessos game, I found some trouble in trying to write up the updates - maybe due to the lack of my creativity - but nonetheless, it was quite difficult to do things because there seemed to be nothing to do (map-wise certainly) and so many things to do (well, the update) at the same time.
If a better mod could take it on, it'd probably be great *hinthint*

Look for parallels between Ice and Fire and the Wars of the Roses, it isn't hard to miss. Besides that, it reads almost like historical fiction, with fantasy elements.

You should always judge a book by its cover, that cover is being targetted towards a specific audience, the audience most likely to enjoy such a book.

A Song of Ice and Fire is extremely good, and the fantasy elements are quite light. I think basically everyone who participates in NESing would love the books.

I would asume the VF-1 fits into generation 6 multirole fighter then, beacuse you can't have the YF-19 without it.. af, Varible form fighters.. impractical, insane, and oh oh so cool all at the same time.
