The DC Blizzard

That must have been the worst day of school for you. I on the other hand is kind of glad that I"m having school tomarrow. If I stayed at home for another day, I'd start to go a little nuts. Well, at least it wasn't like the winds from Hurricane Ike two years ago, when school was out for an entire week. That drove me MAD.

Wait what? We got a little taste of Ike and nobody was talking of canceling school...

It's strange. Here in Hartford, so far we're up to a grand total for the winter of about 6 inches. Including this storm, so we might get a bit more tonight. Yet as near as 40 miles from there the total is measured in feet instead of inches.

6 inches would be good for a snow day when I lived in Columbus and Cincinnati.

Well with Ike, it was only rain (he stormed up here around mid summer), but 6 inches, really? I thought Ohioans were tougher than that

Well, 6 inches of snow in one storm was rather uncommon in Columbus or Cincinnati. Timing would be important... I remember getting a day off with 3 inches right before dawn.

Near Lake Erie it would have been probably a much higher threshold. Here I've seen school buses get stuck in snow without anyone wondering if the kids shoulda had the day off.

We got snow up here too. We proably have around 8-10 inches. Class was canclled today, and my morning class got cancelled tommrow but evening class is still on sadly. Mostly bollocked around. We're expecting more snow around monday and next week. It's pretty cool.

Do you think we should temporarily move our capital to a place that doesn't have snow? Maybe we should establish winter and summer capitals like the emperors of the old.

Our winter capital can be somewhere in California like Los Angles or something or maybe New Orleans. Our summer capital can stay Washington D.C. We can make a spring capital in Boston or New York and a fall capital in Seattle.

Are grocery stores still open? Has there been any fear yet of running out of the basics?

Oh, also, is Barack safe????

Most grocery stores are barren. We went to the local Giant to get pumpkin (its for our dog) and that was the only thing we needed. The line wrapped around the inside of the store. 2 hours. Our dog better be happy.

Terrible idea.

Brilliant idea you mean. It could economically stimulate those cities. In fact we should rotate our capital through every city in the country 4 times every year for each season, it'll be great for the economy.

Our government will be like a traveling circus! And we don't even need to purchase any elephants!

Is the teleprompter safe???

I all seriousness, a couple feet of snow, while a lot, is hardly THAT much. I've seen similar type of storms a bunch of times where I live and I don't doubt that this happens more further North. Of course, I'm guessing that most people in DC don't put snow tires on their cars or are prepared to deal with this amount of snow. Ironically, it has barely snowed here

Best of luck to everyone there.

So does that mean that all federal government employees get to move and have a salary to afford 4 different homes? Because that's fine by me.

This is the largest snowstorm in DC recorded history. Over 59 inches in the last...5 days?

You can figure out the rest
