The Democratic Caliphate.

Thanks guys! Your appreciation is a great motivation

You should seriously think about making money off of this type of stuff

Technically I'm doing this already as I learned all of this because of my job. The mobile development that I talked about earlier to use in the Caliphate is also a request from my job. I feel like I'm being paid to learn, which is awesome :D.

But yes, I am considering making money on the internet in the future with games and stuff like that. When I finally can work home in front of my pc earning money, then I'll truly feel I found my place on life

Welcome aboard Greek!

We are a bit slow for sometime, but this is going to end today. College restarted and I've been struggling with it, my job and CFC.

If you wish to have a position, just say what position you would like. It's a first come, first served thing.

We have some available positions for you to choose:

Ulema
This is a section of the Shura filled with the Ummah's religious scholars. They do not govern any territory, but they do act as a supreme court. Any decision/council may be vetoed by the Ulema. In addition, they can cast their opinions on certain issues in the Parliament. They're also the body to solve disputes between counselors.

Ulema: citis and SouthernKing

There is no limit on the number of Ulema, so it'll always be available. Although they do not interfere directly in anything, they may change others' plans and are the ones that solve disputes, so it's a good amount of power. Also, as any counselor, they have the right to vote on any issue open to a voting.

Also I need to contact DKVM because it seems he really left CFC, or at least S&T. With his answer I'll know if he is willing to make his position available or not. This is it:

Tell us which one you like the most so we can add you to the Council. Also there is nothing prohibiting you to be a simple counselor with no role. As a counselor without any role you still have the power to give opinions on the group and vote on matters open to a voting.

We also have a list of counselors waiting for the next available province. For now only Adhiraj in on the list, in his special position waiting for the creation of the Persian Province (that's now settled for when we are done with the Safavids). To be part of the list just state your intention to inherit a province. If it's a specific province, and nobody claimed it yet, you'll be assigned a special position like Adhiraj.

Also you can have any role and still be part of the waiting list. Normally we don't make a Counselor responsible for more then one role, so when the province becomes available, you'll probably change your old role for the new provincial role. Recently Noob was the Admiral of the Ummah*, but he changed this role for Dar al Arab (Counselor of Arabia) when VGL left us, and Caterpillar was an Ulema until we finally conquered Ethiopia, making him resign the position of Ulema and become Dar al-Abyssinia (Counselor of Ethiopia).
*The Admiralty was dismantled

I finally got around to checking out your map Spiriticum. It makes me feel like a kid again, as I'm just spinning the earth round and round and looking at the pretty colors.

 Glad you liked it.

BTW, have you found all your spies? There are four of them if I'm not mistaken ;)

I would prefer to be the Dar al-Anadol

We will need DKVM's confirmation that he really retired (I already sent him a PM), if not there isn't much we can do, except you trying to convince him to change roles. Anyway, this will only start to matter when the Council of 1309 itself is open, which isn't yet. For now there are some votings occurring on the Majlis ash-Shura group (I already invited you to join there btw) where you may already vote independently from your role.

Ones's in Misr, one's in Shams, one's in Iraq but I can't seem to find the last one.

The one in Sham's is bound to go to Qustantiniyah by your previous orders. You wanted spies scattered through the Caliphate to protect against enemy spies, so I thought that Al-Iskandariya (closest to Cordoba), Babil (closest to the Mongols) and Qustantiniyah (closest to the HRE) were great places for that, but Anatolia was flipping until the last turn, so that's why one is still in As-Sur.

The last spy is exactly where you ordered him to go long ago. Can't you find him? :D

I think there is one Spy in Ethiopia somewhere... (?)

I can assure you that the spy is present on the Master Map. If you check the Report of 1309 AD you'll have the answer.

@Greek

DKVM didn't answer me yet, so I can't be sure of what he has decided. As he is missing, you may take Anadol's role temporarily until DKVM comes back, tells us he left or stays away for so long that it doesn't make sense anymore to have him back to Anadol's position. For this I think if he doesn't appear until the next council is open (not the council of 1309 that will be open this week), you could become Dar al-Anadol officially.

Do you agree with this?

I have updated the Official Shura Members and their Titles thread on the group to update both GreekAnalyzer as substitute for Dar al-Anadol and jackelgull as our new Caliph.

Soon I'll post the Technology thread so we may choose which technological path to go from now. And then I'll open the council thread so we may finally give our orders.

Sorry for the huge delay, but now it shouldn't take much longer.

Congratulations for both Greek and jack for their new assignments :goodjob:

EDIT: The Tech Thread is open, it's the final decision prior to the Council itself! The game will go on finally :D

It seems, the Nidham Adl thinks, that my work as spy master is just one exercise in crisis management after another.
The current crisis happens to be the end of the dynasty of Caliph. If that isn’t bad enough, he looks extremely guilty. The Nidham Adl had been sipping his tea with the Caliph as he is wont to do, when the young man had let out an audible gasp and dropped dead.
To make matters worse, a servant had walked into the room right after the Caliph had died. He saw the glasses of wine, one in hand of Nidham Adl and one in pieces on the floor after the Caliph dropped it.
Now he has to extricate himself from blame. Surprisingly his head is working extremely clearly despite the circumstances. The Nidham Adl says to the trembling boy, “Calm down boy. I won’t hurt you. Please listen to me.”
The boy seems to be held in place through fear. He is shivering and shaking.
“It seems Allah has judged the Caliph worthy to enter Paradise early. He entered swiftly and without pain.”
The servant boy doesn’t seem to believe the Nidham Adl, so he scoops up some of the Caliph’s wine from the floor and drinks it. “Look”, he says, “No poison, and there’s no blood. I didn’t kill him.”
The boy turns to leave the room, and perhaps tell others about the news of the caliph’s death, but that would be inconvenient. The Caliph was the last of his dynasty and his death means there’s a succession problem.
It is his most stressful moments when the options seem all bad that the Nidham Adl has his best ideas, and now is no different. But first he needs to convince the boy not to tell anybody.
“Stop boy! What is your name?”
“Esa sir.”
“Listen Esa, you cannot tell anybody. This has come at an inconvenient time. This might actually fracture the Caliphate.”
“But sir, you cannot hide this forever!”
“Don’t worry, I have a plan, but if you cannot keep this secret, I can offer you a post far away. Your new master will take good care of you.”
It’s amazing, the Nidham Adl thinks, on how much can be hidden in a sentence that’s technically true. It will be a shame to kill the boy, but the secret must be kept for the good of the Caliphate.
“I can keep the secret, sir. Keeping the Caliphate together is too important. I will even offer you my meager services.”
The Nidham Adl whispered in the boy’s ear, “Tell everyone that the Caliph has been targeted for an assassination attempt. He is going to disappear for a bit while the matter is sorted out. By the time he is set to return my solution will be implemented.”
“What’s your plan sir?”
“You’ll see.”
Now, the Nidham Adl thinks, It’s time for the largest cover up in the Order of Justice’s history.
Honestly this wouldn’t be that hard, for the recent Caliph hadn’t been in office long enough to form a bond with the governors of the provinces. Only Dar al Misr would know the truth as he has worked closely with the young Caliph to help him with the burdens of administration. But the Dar al Misr is a practical man and he should agree to the necessity of this deception.
As he begins making plans, the Nidham Adl nearly claps his hands in glee. After cleaning the corruption that had plagued his network a dozen years ago, his life seemed to be one of secret keeping, with no use for his powers of stealth. Now here is a major challenge. It makes his blood boil.
Nothing has ever come easy for the Nidham Adl, and now Allah will reward his struggle if he is only bold enough to take what is offered. He promises himself the same promise he makes every time he has made a decision: Whatever comes he will not regret it.

Awesome! :D

I was playing with Google Earth a bit and I found out we can get the measures of perimeter and area of the provinces. This isn't proportional to DoC because of the map tweaks they had to do (enlarging europe i.e.), but it's a real world perspective, which is better IMO. So let's see how large are our provinces in order:

If you want to check the full map, please check here to download it and then you may open it with Google Earth
