The drawing thread

They were worth the wait. :) I can't do that sort of shading.

If you can find something in it please share :)

Always fun to see what people think it is.

Perhaps not quite the a drawing, but It's close thread i think. If theirs a more appropriate place for me to put it let me know. The pattern for the stained glass is my own.

It's a little rough, but not bad for a first time i think.

The most I'm familiar with Rayman was when a friend played through the end battle in The Great Escape.
Yeah, I remember the Golgroth. Most frustrating boss battle in ages. :crazyeye:

Out of curiousity, how are you guys uploading your drawings? I might share a few of the sketches, but I can't scan them; maybe take a picture with my camera and upload an image file somewhere...?
I usually scan it and upload it to deviantArt afterwards. But a camera is okay as well. Just make sure to take a well-lit picture from a decent perspective. I've seen a lot of people doing otherwise, and that looks less than decent in most cases.

I'm the only person I know of here who paints, so I have to take pictures. I do wonder if there's a place where I could have some of them professionally scanned or photographed, because anytime I try and take a picture with my cheap camera it always looks distorted and the color is usually way off. Case in point:

I finished this portrait of a couple friends of mine a couple months ago and just attended it's opulent unveiling party (not my idea). Boy did I feel pretentious. Once again I only had a couple pictures of their faces and had to come up with everything else. It would be really nice one day to do a portrait of someone who actually poses for me, or a least provides quality photographs to work with. That way I could get it absolutely perfect.

I've been having a really hard time coming up with the motivation to paint or draw since though.

I know it's feasible to scan them because how would reproductions be made then?

Why is there no motivation? You can always paint a heroic spearman defeating a tank, CFC'd be glad to provide enough material to keep you painting for a few years. ;)

I should have phrased that as I wonder if there's an economically viable way to scan them somewhere.

I suppose my current lack of motivation isn't for lack of ideas. It comes from hours upon hours of intense focus and hard work, and not feeling it was all worth it. I seem to have lost any sense of self satisfaction I used to have. I certainly don't make much money or get a great ammount of recognition.
I was payed a bit for the above portrait, but I felt I was dispassionately going through the motions for most of it.
I suppose almost any artist will go through that feeling, and maybe it will pass.

Here's my first submission to the thread, a small image of Trent Reznor based off of this picture (with the background of this picture) and a larger picture based off the cover of Low.

I was particularly proud of my Low drawing, so I colorized it. Hope it's any good; it's the first time I did something like it.

Oh, that's a keeper.

Here is the colorized version of my Napoleon drawing. I'm not as proud of it as of my avatar drawing, but I'm still pretty pleased with it.

Small animation I spent about 10-15 minutes on. Animating in Photoshop Elements seems near impossible. fff

Here's another album cover drawing I did: Bjork's Debut album.

Here's the real thing. I think I might colorize it, but the original was in black and white, so I dunno. I'll probably do it just for fun and practice.

EDIT: Here is the colorized version, sized down to about half its size, with some editing done in GIMP to the left eye (I thought it looked a bit off).
