It's been a while. I finally found time to do a sketch that isn't headed straight for DYOS.

...And yet, a DYOS character. Kirill Gedeonin, General-Polkovnik in the Union army. He is one of the many military commanders created out of "necessity" as the chain of command grows ever larger. His background is Spetsnaz, and he has ties to the FSB; it's therefore no coincidence that a lot of his work involves spy games. He's the kind of officer who's tough, but fair: he carries a wickedly cynical humour and irreverent attitude that makes him the bane of incompetent underlings, but once his trust is earned it's not easily shaken. He's not top dog in special forces, but his quirky character encourages me to use him as the front-runner in any future battles of espionage and subterfuge. If Koldanev can be considered Brusilov's deputy and Czciborycz his attack dog, Gedeonin is his inquisitor. He'll bend the rules however necessary to get the job done, and double- or even triple-cross rival agents he's baited into his confidence.

The sketch itself was inspired some time ago as I was walking outside one brisk day. There's just something I like about overcoats, and Winter walks in general. I rushed myself to finish this and there are parts that still bug me (getting the hand and left leg to look passable was a pain), but I managed the pose I was aiming for. I still have to figure out shadowing.

Three of the main characters, Marcus, Skaden, and Omni from my novel.

My mother thought Skaden was hot(furry! I inherited it from her!). Shiver.

They're one big happy family, though given one's a hedgehog, one's a wolf, and one's a human, it's obviously double adoption(Omni adopted Skaden who in turn adopted Marcus).

Omni's the leader of the 'Cubi on the Confederacy's Consulate. While he uses magic to make himself about 5'6'', in reality, he's almost a foot shorter(hedgehogs tend to be dimunitive). Don't let his size fool you though; having lived several millennia, he'd be able to school countless people all on his own(being able to partially see the future assists him as well apart from the drawback he can't see his own).

I know it looks like that but he's actually not. He's looking at the blade because it reminds him of his past.

Then again he does look a bit emo so it might fit.

Though, as an incubus that wouldn't kill him anyway...

Thorvald executes Albert Wesker, Soviet style. This is the complete image used for the newspaper photograph in my recent DYOS comic. I touched it up a bit from the original scan, correcting the perspective on the lamppost and adding a few minor details.

I've always had trouble with communicating depth, which is often why I skimp out on backgrounds. This time, though, I think I managed it, and with a crowd scene to boot. I'm still iffy about the angle of the clouds, which were added afterwards to make the sky less boring.

I like it. I love how you put confident lines on Thorvald and Wesker and slowly bled out the focus for the background. That monument with its halfway shading really communicates that.

It's tough to put perspective on shapeless forms. Maybe the shadows could retreat into the horizon so that the clouds have some place in the picture.

Thankye. :) Originally I shaded in the space between the columns but I thought it walled everything in. In hindsight, I regret not delving further into the background, since the buildings beyond the colonnade would have better demarcated the sky.

This will probably be another scene I shall revisit when my skill improves.

Something I did to provide some plot to Imperia Mobiana. Keeps the game interesting.

Lightning Lynx, now as supreme lord of the Raiju Clan, walks alongside his mysterious contact, who seems to have a Chaos Emerald? Who is this mysterious person, and what are his intentions?

    Obviously evil

And why is it obviously evil?

He's only half-materialised. Basically "walking" alongside Lightning but with only his upper half actually formed.

Dark cloak + offering you a way out of all your troubles generally means you're evil.

    Thank you! :)

The goatee always gives the evil appearance yes.

I see "Xemnas!" Someone must play Kingdom Hearts. ;)

The Meme of the Ages is rather humorous; sometimes the outfit is so ridiculous even the portrait's eyes move to look at it in confusion.

Actually, that's a reference to someone I know off FF.net.

As is the intention. You've got to love history, haven't you?

The most I'm familiar with Rayman was when a friend played through the end battle in The Great Escape.
    Stellar work as ever.

Looking over this thread inspired me to get back to drawing, and I actually did some sketches the other night... holy crap am I rusty after 10+ years without a pencil in hand. :p

Out of curiousity, how are you guys uploading your drawings? I might share a few of the sketches, but I can't scan them; maybe take a picture with my camera and upload an image file somewhere...?
