I know it looks like that but he's actually not. He's looking at the blade because it reminds him of his past.

Then again he does look a bit emo so it might fit.

Though, as an incubus that wouldn't kill him anyway...

Thorvald executes Albert Wesker, Soviet style. This is the complete image used for the newspaper photograph in my recent DYOS comic. I touched it up a bit from the original scan, correcting the perspective on the lamppost and adding a few minor details.

I've always had trouble with communicating depth, which is often why I skimp out on backgrounds. This time, though, I think I managed it, and with a crowd scene to boot. I'm still iffy about the angle of the clouds, which were added afterwards to make the sky less boring.

I like it. I love how you put confident lines on Thorvald and Wesker and slowly bled out the focus for the background. That monument with its halfway shading really communicates that.

It's tough to put perspective on shapeless forms. Maybe the shadows could retreat into the horizon so that the clouds have some place in the picture.

Thankye. Originally I shaded in the space between the columns but I thought it walled everything in. In hindsight, I regret not delving further into the background, since the buildings beyond the colonnade would have better demarcated the sky.

This will probably be another scene I shall revisit when my skill improves.

He's only half-materialised. Basically "walking" alongside Lightning but with only his upper half actually formed.

Dark cloak + offering you a way out of all your troubles generally means you're evil.

Looking over this thread inspired me to get back to drawing, and I actually did some sketches the other night... holy crap am I rusty after 10+ years without a pencil in hand.

Out of curiousity, how are you guys uploading your drawings? I might share a few of the sketches, but I can't scan them; maybe take a picture with my camera and upload an image file somewhere...?

I use a scanner, but if you can get proper lighting a camera can work too. Just make sure it's a proper camera with good resolution.
