The drawing thread

Okay guys. I know I haven't posted anything in a while.
Here are some sketches from my Clothed Figure Drawing class:

We get to learn about all the different kinds of folds and how they occur in clothing.
Yay!

Somebody's been busy again~!

And now for some traditional art stuff!

Basic backstory: Elias has captured Geoffrey, the leader of the local freedom fighter cell, and is trying to persuade him to join the Empire's cause. To dispel any doubt that he's the true heir to Acorn (commonly said to not be due to supposedly murdering his father), he demonstrates that he can summon the legendary Sword of Acorns at will, something only the rightful ruler is able to do. Naturally Geo is a bit conflicted.

That is too cool. Moar moar moar

Okay, wasn't sure if I could post it here, but coming off from the assumption that
Michelangelo's David could likely be okay here and also that flyingchicken has been known to sometimes post some saucy art (which I love),
I'm going to post my Clothed Figure Drawing assignment which includes detailed full-body figures.
If I need to spoiler them or take them off, just let me know.
I censored them beforehand, just in case.

I got a C+... I will need to rework it for a better grade.

Problems:
-Presentation was a little bubbly (I neglected to brush glue into the centers under the images.)
-The pose I gave my clothed figure was thought to be uncomfortable.
-The contemporary girl attire appeared to clash with the German sword.
I'm supposed to fix it by adding more medieval trinkets.
-Front arm needs to be more dynamic.
-The first four figures were supposed to be sketches. I spent too much time on them.

Wow, those are great! I don't understand how anyone can grade artwork, though. Seriously that seems just stupid to me.

As for the censoring thing, it should be okay uncensored (albeit in spoilered form) but you should check with a mod just in case. I mean, it is art.

Awesome work once again. I'm trying to learn how to draw poses.

This is just a quick drawing I did yesterday. It's the first one I've done since I came back from holiday.

Hi, Chukchi.

What kind of tool are you using in your compositions?
The line quality is not up to par, mostly because:
1. You are going over the same lines multiple times.
2. I can tell you are not committing enough weight as
you lay down your tool against the paper.

Also, the left deltoid (the one facing us), is improperly positioned.
Push it a bit farther from the pectorals, because now, his shoulder looks scrunched.
Don't be afraid to make darker lines. With enough practice, you'll be able to draw
more effectively
and make less mistakes without going over the same area multiple times as well.

You are improving though, I can tell.
From the face, I already know that you have an understanding that,
from the three-quarters view, the eye on the one quarter side should appear smaller
and the one on the three-quarter side appears bigger.

If the all art is equally good bullcrap were true, why bother teach or learn something that's apparently not a skill?

 Calm down. I don't think Meteor Man meant it like that.

And oh, I forgot to mention it in my earlier post.
The Clothed Figure Drawing practice was done off a live model.
5-7 min. each pose.

Hi, Chukchi.

It's just a HB pencil. The paper I'm drawing on is smaller than A5 and isn't made for pencil drawing, I only got it because it was the only thing close to a sketchbook I could find. I also have a problem with being able to see what I'm drawing. I think the drawing took over half an hour to do.

What's a deltoid?

I can't practice.

I tried to use my tablet again. Here's a drawing that I did, which took over 20 minutes. I guess the tablet shows up how horrible I am at drawing.

Which is to say, none at all…?

That's actually a pretty good sketch. Just make sure you set opacity and size to pen pressure, I guarantee you'll see a difference.

incidentally here is some more I guess, partly with the last one at least

also wrt your drawrings, I think they are a bit too reminiscent of action figures wrt twisting, a bit unnatural and too seemingly disjointed imo, idk maybe it's just me, and the supposed-to-be-sketches feel a bit too constrained, a bit too stiff (hrm didn't I bring this up a few pages ago...), maybe loosen it up a bit, draw from the shoulder and elbows

Actually, if anything, I got good marks for capturing the body rhythm well.
I can see where you're coming from with "stiffness" because they're all standing,
but they are all standing dynamically, and have a good variety of poses at least for the most part, are somewhat everyday comfortable poses to hold.
I can post some of my 5 min.-10 min. charcoal/conte sketches from models posing in ways that I think you are specifically looking for, if you want to see them.
The figure on the far left (the one I put clothes on) was only specifically criticized for being an uncomfortable pose to hold.

Hey all. Here's a recent assignment I did for Comics 2.
My real name of course, edited out to just my initials =p

And yes, I used Michael Cera's lips as a reference for the far right figure's lips.

EDIT: I notice now that it's a little on the light side,
but that's because this particular piece is adjusted for printing.
The print I have on hand looks a lot better thanks to the color printer.
