The Drunk and After the Party thread and stuff.. 1

Not true. We have seasons!

For example, January was much warmer than the past month.

Got some chocolate liqueur for my birthday. I've been looking for that but never could find it.

I don't get the whole summer vs not summer beer distinctions.

Properly speaking real ale should be served at room temperature. But unfortunately not everywhere is blessed with the equitable climate of England, so that, in foreign parts of the world, it's often either too hot or too damn cold. Beer (well the real kind anyway) in warm, or hot, weather at room temperature is not a particularly good drink, so it makes some sense, to chill the stuff for selling to mad people who live in deserts and the like. But chilling any beverage, or food even, robs the product of a lot of its taste - which might be deliberate, for instance sweet stuff doesn't taste as sweet if it's frozen, like ice-cream, yeah? Therefore it's not inconceivable that you could brew a beer specially with the intention of selling it chilled. I mean you truly could. But is it really necessary for that one week in a decade when it's really too warm for room-temperature beer in the UK?

Now, winter ale? That's another matter.

A very good summer beer indeed! Erdinger is also good for that purpose... as well as several other German and Belgian white/wheat beers. But I have fond experiences with those two in particular

Turns out I'm a fan of wheat beers and hate IPAs. Hoegaarden has a very good, kinda citrus-y flavor, it's just great for sipping while reading a book.

I haven't had Erdinger yet. Leffe (sp?) and Stella Artois are good, but I prefer Hoegaarden over them.

How does that taste?

I received a bottle of grape liqueur (McGillicuddy's, I think? It was some absurd and long name.) awhile back, and it was a hilariously awesome experience. My tongue was stained purple, and that beverage shouldn't be given to children because it has the same flavor I remember from grape drinks as a kid. But loaded with alcohol.

I've finally acquired a taste for beers, but I do quite like a good Weizen. Still unable to tell most beers apart, though. Much more rigorous testing is needed...

Just tried it out, and it's exactly what you'd expect. Tastes like chocolate, but there's the unmistakable taste of alcohol, too. 17%, so not too bad. I barely had any, and I never drink alone, so I'll have to try some more and pour it into a glass next chance I get.

Nursing one of these after a long ass day.

Drinking one of these for the first time...pretty good! :goodjob:

As of somewhere in the vicinity of 20-25 hours ago I can now say with certainty I have had the experience of getting so drunk I can't remember what I did.

Suffice to say I've felt considerably better than I do right now.

So, after several hours of wallowing in the filth that was the GOP debates while consuming adult beverages and chocolates, I am thoroughly drunk. #scrumptralescent

In Finland we have this thing called "kalsarikännit", which means getting drunk alone at home in your underwear.

Can a Finn verify if this is true or not?

hours later, i went out again

I was asleep :(

Budweiser is pricy where I live, as are other mainstream beers. Mind you craft beers usually cost the same if not more. The cheap stuff is produced by other brands, such as Lakeport.

For a beginner I'd recommend Czech Pilseners, such as Pilsner Urquell. They don't taste like crap, are very smooth, and there is taste, but it isn't overwhelming. And if that taste is too strong for you, I guess you have no choice but to start with a light beer.

My favorite semi-available beer, actually. I even got Pilsner Urquell in a supermarket in South Korea once :D
