The Drunk and After the Party thread and stuff.. 1

Definitely more than a little buzzed. Was out with Owen Glyndwr and a friend of mine and talked about cfc style stuff. After getting beers at one bar we end up at the destination bar and the moment the bartender comes up we're immediately:
Owen: I'll get a jack and coke
Hygro's Homey: I'll get a seven and seven
Me: I'll get a gin and soda

Always have a drink to order. You make the group look good.

Mmmm...bay area CFC meetups? I want in! Would you young hip cats accept a boring old parent in your midst? I'd add a distinguished and refined bourbon neat to that drink order.

Yes down.

The taste is dreadful

Somedays, that's what you want. I have my mind on one of these puppies in my cabinet for tonight:
Spoiler :

Beer is like coffee, it's gross until you have enough of it to get used to it. Also, while I'd never suggest someone has to buy expensive craft beers, when you're first starting out, it's usually better to try one tier up from the super cheap stuff. Even people who swear by the cheap stuff say it tastes bad. There's a difference between, say, Budweiser/your country's equivalent and, say, something like Stella or Guinness.

I have to work all weekend so I might just get blasted tonight because I haven't done so since early March. Lame.

Oh! Alcohol itself tastes like absolute crap(like seriously, the poison warning center in your brain was built for that sort of flavor), so the strong flavors are set up to counterbalance that. Beware the drinks that are delicious to newcomers! They're vomit rockets.

Budweiser is pricy where I live, as are other mainstream beers. Mind you craft beers usually cost the same if not more. The cheap stuff is produced by other brands, such as Lakeport.

For a beginner I'd recommend Czech Pilseners, such as Pilsner Urquell. They don't taste like crap, are very smooth, and there is taste, but it isn't overwhelming. And if that taste is too strong for you, I guess you have no choice but to start with a light beer.

Just celebrated my birthday, had a fair amount to drink, as is custom. I got a bottle of chocolate liqueur, too. Unfortunately I had a so-so time, I've pretty well sobered up already, it's dawn, and I have few plans for my actual birthday today. Oh well, birthdays have gotten pretty well meaningless by now.

Last night I was at an event where I could have had free beer or wine if I wanted it, but I have still yet to try a sip of any alcoholic beverage in all 27 years of my life.

Hoegaarden has recently become my jam.

A very good summer beer indeed! Erdinger is also good for that purpose... as well as several other German and Belgian white/wheat beers. But I have fond experiences with those two in particular

I don't get the whole summer vs not summer beer distinctions.
