The Future of NESing

Yopu know what really annoys me?

The fact I had my sig changed because I was one line over, yet a certain person has his at 10 lines! Power abuser!

Hey, littleboots, please caligulate your way to AIM :p

Apologies, mon ami, but I was indisposed at the time of your message. I check as of the time of this message, but, as expected, you were not on. Tomorrow night I should be around. If it is more pressing, my PM box is not yet quite full

I believe he meant you. :p

He probably doesn't realize that at 1024*768 resolution, at full screen, it's 5 lines.

That's a strange rule, BTW. Who actually uses full screen to browse the internet? :p

Ooh, and now he flaunts (the spirit, if not the letter of) the ten-character rule! Shame!

:p

ROFL.

Incidentally, this thread is getting very off-topic, but its a bit hard to say what should be done about it. Hmm... what would Reno do? :p Report Turner's posts to Turner?

I'd suggest someone start a wargame-type NES over in All Other Games just to see the response. If people join from the start, it's the right area to be in.

Uhmmm, I could give it a go, although not sure if the style I envisage is suitable, I want to go for a semi-realistic calssic age NES. Hopefully get advice from others too. (I.e. Galleys, etc cannot be used for blockade purposes, or not without the express use of a lot of supplies, you cannot make exteremly long distance attacks (depends on the exact era and infrastructure of course), rebellions will occur, often. The list goes on).

On the other hand, I could just start a fresh start, I think thats the easiet concept to grasp, keep the rules fairly simple.

I agree that someone should do a fresh start--one that updates quickly, like every two to three days. Maybe slowly add complexity (trade routes, research, etc)?

People learn best by playing. Once the rules concepts are learned (a simple fresh start would do this) playing with good players is the next best step. Those good players though have a responsibility not to trash the new ones even if they have the chance. Take them down a step or two maybe, but let them survive well enough to learn and move ahead. Maybe even assign a "buddy" who will guide them the negotiations and deal making and offer advice.

what the duce?

ok but seriously i do like the idea of a budy system sort of thing, however in order for it to work the person who is the "buddy" of the newb guy loser shouldn't be in the NES he is helping him with. This would eliminate any chance of the buddy trying to get the newb to do his evil bidding and massacre thousands upon thousands of people in huge explosions *wipes brow and takes a seat* my is it hot in here?

it is a good idea bird, one question though, how would we organize it? maybe das the all mighty god of all things NES *bows* could do it? or.. someone else... who isn't me cause im lazy

I'd want a newbie buddy. I'd train him to be my follower.
