The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

LFD2 on PrinceScamps advice.

L4D2 + TF2 on the steam xmas sale.

The various X-mas sales on all the websites were a calamity for my wallet.

gog.com: Blood (friggin' awesome), Settlers 2, Duke Nukem 3d (not as good as Blood), Betrayal at Krondor (really didn't age very well), Arcanum, Another World, Neverwinter Nights

Steam: Victoria Revolutions, Serious Sam HD pack, GTA IV, Assassin's Creed II, Fallout New Vegas, a bunch of indie games, I think there are a few more, I can't even remember

Gamersgate: Victoria II and... something else I can't remember

I also bought Minecraft in the same period.

Just got Minecraft beta for 14.95 euro and angry at myself after finding out future expansions will no longer be free since Dec 20

I remember almost clicking Paypal button when it was 10 euro AND all the future expansions were to be supported freely.

In case you haven't already Andoo I would check out this thread.

Anyway with the steam sale I got:

TF2
Dawn of Discovery: Gold
Star Wars: KotoR
Napolean/Empire Total War

Make sure you find and install the community patch so you can finish the game and actually see like half the content included :p

Where does it say that? You get all the updates and patches that will be released for the game and don't have to pay for it again, just like when you bought the alpha.

When they made the announcement that it was going into beta they said that they would take down the all future parts of the game for free part out. Anyone who buys the beta gets the final game free, but nothing else (such as expansion packs).

Likewise, and though I know it's quite silly, I feel pride in knowing I was one of the first 25,000

I dont even remember when I got my copy, but I dont think Notch had even made the 10,000th sale then.

I think I got my copy around 200k.

Heh, I got Minecraft around the three quarters of a million mark, and that was all of three weeks ago.

Black ops PC
In the proccess of trying to figure out how to install Stars! (a 1995 computer game designed for windows 3.1) on a brand new windows 7x64 computer. Not fun. This game had better be as fun as I remember it to be.
Saving up for Total War. Which one is yet to be decided

Red Dead Redemption. Hope it is as good as I think it is going to be.

It's decent. Hope you like riding horses for long periods of time with nothing happening though...

Arx Fatalis, Freespace 2, Citizen Kabuto, Syberia 1 & 2 (I am in the 1st one and its a little boring but highly addicting), Neverwinter Nights 2, Advent Rising. . . I know there are some more but I'll get back to ya guys in a few.

I've been eyeing the STALKER games for a while now on steam. Is it similar to the fallout series in terms of RPG elements or 50's post apocalyptic atmosphere?

Nope. Its a post-apocalyptic Chernobyl filled with mutants, bandits, different groups of armed men, Russian soldiers, zombie-like things, and anomalies. The vast majority of which are trying to kill you (or will if you shoot them or their buddies). The series improves upon itself as it goes along (though Clear Sky was a step forward and step back but I still really enjoyed it). The levels are large open areas connected with at least one "passage way" to a different level (with some underground complexes that aren't open for obvious reasons), these get bigger throughout the series. Most of the game is out doors, and there is a lot of exploring to do for hidden caches, artifacts (crated by/in anomalies), and to sightsee. Its a less-arcadey FPS as you do need to keep yourself healed and bandage up bleeding wounds (and later on or with mods, eat). I highly recommend the series, and starting from the beginning with Shadow of Chernobyl (I also recommend the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009 (or 2010 I guess if they made a new version of it, I don't know) mod for SoC.
