On the note of weddings and gifts, what sort of gift would you expect from a friend whose significantly younger than you, such as a student who is of lesser financial means? For instance say your are an elder gentleperson of about mid to late 30's and you have a friend in their early 20's who you've deigned to invite to your wedding, what would you expect from them? (Aside from showing up sober?)

Something like a bottle of wal mart wine, a card or the least expensive thing on the registry.

Or maybe just nothing.

Are there any regular CFC posters from South Africa?

I can't think of any but maybe I'm just drawing a blank.

Why are you thinking about that?
If I was on that side (as invited person), I'd probably try to see if one of our mutual friends will gift something more costly and try to contribute there a bit.
Else no idea myself :dunno:.

This is a good idea. If not, most sensible people will include inexpensive presents on their registry.

There's this little bug on this forum where a thread you just posted in gets marked as 'unread'.
Now I wonder if anyone else has the uncontrollable desire to open the thread because it's name is in bold, even if you know you just posted in it and thus read all the messages?

That only happens to me when someone else posts while you are still typing your post. The forum assumes that since it went up while you were typing that you didn't read it before backing out of the thread.

In the new YouTube app for iOS6, how I clear the 'search history autocomplete' think you get when searching for a video? One my friends thought it would be funny to search for a lot of rather raunchy sounding videos, forgetting it isn't very easy to clear the search autocomplete bar (unlike the old youtube app). I would rather not have 'naked Japanese girl' coming up whenever I try to search for a youtube video on my iphone.

Its always a friend or a brother isn't it.
Hey, I'm smart enough to ensure I know how to wipe the history afterwards.
Besides, youtube isn't very good for that sort of thing.

Cuz an older bro is getting married. Dunno what to buy.

Also do you think drinking a liter of vodka a week is too much? 1 gallon of cherry Kool Aid, 1 liter of cheap vodka, and 1 can of Four Loko Fruit Punch flavored

For some one who doesn't drink, I'd guess a litre would be too much.

For a Russian street vagrant alcoholic, nowhere near enough. Try harder. Have you tried rubbing it on your face and hands against the worst effects of the cold weather?

Does Vichy, France have to deal with a legacy of collaborationism?

Yes. I believe so. Though not specifically Vichy France, imo.

It's the Vel' d'Hiv affair, amongst other things.

I know this has to be a European country, the people are too white and friendly, I'm thinking Nordic or Germany but what country is this where this man doesn't get shot, arrested, or suffer grievous bodily harm? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKb-k1XFiaY (warning phallic object toward the end of the video)

He could probably get charged with sexual assault around here for going around whacking women with a rubber penis. That is probably okay in Sweden, though, so that's my guess.

I kinda want five minutes of my life back.

Sounds more like german or perhaps dutch, although that behavior would probably be acceptable here too.

”I fear that Sweden has given up – but it’s not too late”

Basically we hear that Sweden successfully avoided the world wars and has become a bit complacent, even reactionary. A "don't rock the boat" mentality apparently stifles freedom of speech and the Press. Any truth here?
Yes, it's evident there are issues such as those mentioned in the article.

Question: Can in-game concepts be patented? Either original game mechanics or concepts. Could Valve patent the portal gun for example?

Why are there so many shifting goal post threads sprouting up?

Will there be "The ever shifting goal posts of the ever shifting goal posts" thread next?
