The most critical issue your society is facing.

USA...
Glorification of violence in the media/entertainment world...
Fearmongering in politics funded by corporations which leads to a monopoly of power between a false dichotomy that is completely in cahoots with each other despite theatrics as we slowly slip into a police state...
The way the British spell "civilisation"...

I don't think the media is nearly as much of a problem as that other stuff (I'm absolutely positive you don't care about the spelling of civilization.)

Conservatism is the ultimate cause of America's current and long run problems. Dialing that back is the most critical issue. Every other issue we are dealing with we are failing to resolve because we have become so conservative that we are unwilling to take the steps necessary to resolve them.

*shakeshead*

Just when I think a post couldn't get anymore ridiculous and without substance, I am proven wrong...

Blame Bush, still?!? It's 2012 man.

No, Cutlass just thinks Obama is also a conservative.

The modernist heresy and the subsequent slow-motion collapse of the west socially and economically due to the consequences of its ideological dysfunction. Just the suicide of the west, nothing major :p

What does ideological dysfunction have to do with it?

People aren't as moral as they used to be. That's a problem.

And just why has general societal moral standards gone down the proverbial sewer dommy ;)

I can see why but its still getting annyoing to hear "Conservatives are trying to destroy the nation" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and....

In all seriousness, the biggest US issue is its foreign policy, it needs to change, and domestic surveilance, the unconstitutional parts need to be eliminated.

And just why has general societal moral standards gone down the proverbial sewer dommy

It probably just seems that way because there are more people in one place. "Small town communities" aren't as common. And while sin used to be hidden, its always existed.

Theocracy is not going to help with your problem;)

I agree, that's pretty lame. I very much doubt they wish to destroy the nation. But if aspire to take the reigns of power then good intentions are not enough. You harm too many people if you are incompetent.

I think their biggest problem is that they pretend that higher taxes actually reduce revenue instead of focusing on the reasons why maximized government revenue might not be a good idea.

Even if you think that they are wrong, surely America would be better off with a party that wants to cut taxes AND spending complemented by a party that wants more government control, rather than two parties that want to increase spending but only one that is willing to tax to pay for it?

The biggest inconsistency in the Republican program is the bloated military. The Republicans would do much better if they were willing to seriously cut that. We could cut it in half and be every bit as safe if we brought our troops home.

After completing four years of primary school, children go to one of three kinds of schools for secondary education: Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium., depending on a (non-binding) teacher's recommendation. The problem here is that teachers are also just people with all their little conscious and subconcious prejudices and that parent's with an university degree won't accept it if someone tells them their ten year old son isn't fit for Gymnasium (which is the kind of school you have to graduate from if you want to get an University education), while uneducated/ immigrant parents don't know a lot about the education system and don't complain much. Therefore children are sorted not according to intelligence or performance, but mostly according to their parents' level of education. Granted, I'm simplifying the problem somewhat, but the end result is that nowadays most university students have parents who also went to university and poorer families are left behind. Doctors and Lawyers in particular tend to build dynasties.
Germany is too small to afford a competitive education system that wastes so much potential.

We have the same kind of problem in the Netherlands (which has more or less copied the German education system). However, we do have entrance exams which everybody aged 21 or up can do to enter university, regardless of amounts pre-education. Doesn't Germany has something like this too, which I believe is called the Arbitur?

Oh yes its always existed, hasn't always been celebrated with public street parades though and thoroughly promoted as the state orthodoxy. Regardless the fact of the matter is that a profound ideological shift in society in key areas (particularly manifest from around the 60's after the chaos of the first half of the 20th century going on to this very day) has in turn had practical consequences on the ground, in law, in the way the state behaves and in moral standards of society.

This change "on the ground" ultimately rests in an ideological shift, which is commonsense considering if ideology had not profoundly changed fornication to name an example would still be frowned upon rather than glorified in the popular media. This being because how we act proceeds from what we believe and our overarching world-view, our mentality.

Theocracy is not going to help with your problem;)

You should know by know I only advocate for theocracy in IAAR's and IOT's since its a surefire strategy to beating my opponents who are for some odd reason reluctant to wield the righteous sword of pious devotion. :p.

That's not what I said.
Right, what you actually said is, it won't necessarily stop lobbying at all... which is worse.

So, let's just throw our hands up in the air and surrender to the corporations, resistance is futile
