Isn't that the idea that you personally would add your assessment of skills to your own user page? And they'd be skills that would be of service to the NESing community as a whole, rather than in a particular NES?
I don't see how that's at all controversial...
This is exactly what I was talking about. You, personally, write your own skills on your page. Your fellow NESers can also do that. The point is that the skills are
verifiable and
genuine. We can all say that Daftpanzer is an amazing graphist and that Birdjaguar is the pioneer of Excel NESing. We have seen it, we have examples of their work. Symphony is a great cartographist. The skills that you put on your personal page must be
- either what you can do for the community (excel master, graphist, cartographer, web-designer)
- or what you see yourself doing well (which should be at least somewhat confirmed by others): map-maker, guide wirter, graphist, etc.
The point of the exercise is not to boost ego, but to add a credible database of competences of fellow NESers so that we know who to turn to.
I support anything that gets people back to reading the Wiki. Adding a skills bit ought to be reasonably helpful. There's no good reason to prohibit it, anyhow. Good show, Gelion.
I think if we made our personal pages interesting and genuine a lot more people would consult the wiki.
