The NESer Neptune's Pride Thread!

Well, it makes sense that I wouldn't immediately guess that ec1029 is you, but sure. Lurk in #nes for the starting time, I regularly run polls to see who's interested in starting a game. Alternatively, I could use my points to start a password-protected 12-player game.

Week 2, Years 7 To 14: On the History of the Starwhomperian Supercluster and What We Found There
Also Known as the Shattering of Peace, The Rise of the Great Union, or the Spectre of War

"The state whose point of view is used is the Terranic Union. I promise that, within this history I shall not reveal secrets of the state other than the irrevocably set actions which cannot be undone or diverted. All Hail the Unionator!"

War is now a common spectre among the stars. Power, fame… death. Allies become enemies. Enemies become allies. Huge forces which take years to collect are dashed within hours, while economies which might have taken centuries to build to what they ware today are destroyed within days.

War is a hungry fellow. It devours the soul of the good and pure, and replaces it with the power-seeking and cruel. Let us hope that the Unionator stays true to his Principles and destroy the remaining Aries infiltraters.

Local History
“DAMN The distances! I want those ships arriving tomarrow to arrive YESTERDAY!”- The Unionator

This galactic rotation began with the invasion of Daft Panzer by the Kraz Republic and the raid on the Aries hideouts of Hyadum and Pollux, under the official Jurisdiction of Aiken Starwhomper. The Natives aided us in our quest by breaking the mind control of their fleet and sending them away from the Aries defenses. They were taken with nary a casualty. At Hyadum we confiscated a large amount of Aries technology, including the code to reactivate the Dreadnought Turbolaser (I used pillaged cash for extra science.) while at Pollux we found a datatbase which allowed us to find further infiltraters.

Meanwhile, Daftpanzer is facing the Kraz Republic of Merciary almost alone. After losing some lucrative border-systems, they now face a stalemate. It is during this time which the Unionator cursed the distances of our homeworld-cluster, for it will take three days to assemble an counter-attack force, and another two for further reinforcements. All that can be done is to research speed and aid Daftpanzer with gifts of cash.

Soon, Aiken also surrenedured to the Great Union of the Stars. A united alliance of technology, and warfare, the three states of the Terranic Union, The Aiken Starwhompers and the Daft Panzer ruled the northwestern corner of the Cluster. It is during this time which the Starwhomperians invaded Katzburgler for living space, and the forces of the Terranic Union struck north.

It eventually was revealed that EC1029 was allied to Merciary due to a blazingly counter attack. Although the industry and economy of the Terranic Uniion is still strong, many protest the ‘Welfare State’ attitude it has towards its alliance mates: most notably to strengthening Aiken Starwhomper. As Terranic reinforcements slowly arrive, the galaxy’s greatest battle is still yet to come.

Galactic History: Rumors and Whispers
It is said that Katzburgler was first crushed by Turd Furgeson and then by Aiken Starwhomper who was riding on retro-fitted jumpengines from the former-Aries base of Terebellum and corpious subsidies from the Union. It is also said that the economy, industry and science facilities of the native allies now overshadows that of the Union. Most argue that this is due to the lack of outside expansion as ever more investment is needed to grow our stagnating nation.

While Lord Joakim pawns his loyalty to take initiatve and technology in the south, EC 1029 and the Kraz Republic make a formidable alliance in the north. Pax Argentis isn’t worried about the shattering of their Hegemony: their shear size can still overwhelm any single contender, and can defend well even if the entire galaxy attacked. Instead, they took over the prostrate Starflyr Hermits instead.

Whispers also tell of a conflict in the center of the galaxy, but until our historian-diplomats return, we cannot tell for sure.

Our friends at Lord Joakim will hopefully provide a map, as our own servers are too taxed by war to provide.

Here's a screenie!

The aggressive, irresponsible, some-would-say insane military junta of the Daftpanzerists had long since been otherthrown with help from Terranic Union agents. But the new Daftpantheist Republic faced an ongoing struggle of survival, fighting wars that its forefathers had started. All the while, the influence of the Terranic Union grew and grew...

Some years ago, peace was achieved with the Aikenauts, at the urging of the Union. Our people willingly paid a high price - two captured systems abandoned, and another that we had settled before the war, in addition to 300 trillion credits in reparations. Relations remain tense - though we are now technically allies, we also know the Aikenauts are hording much technology for themselves. Throughout the southern systems, it feels more like a cease-fire - one that we have no choice but to place our trust in. Our fighting ships needed in the north...

The great war against Merciary. Entire fleets have been destroyed on both sides. Epic manoeuvres and counter-manoeuvres all across the northern sector. Systems lost and retaken, lost again, and retaken again. The battles for our second-system, Polaris, and the desperate defence of our homeworld against a surprise long-range raid. Death, destruction and reconstruction. The overwhelming majority of action taking place within our home systems, it has been a costly affair indeed. But there is little serious talk of peace...

Every space slug knows the sacrifices that have been made. Every space slug wants ultimate victory - not another humiliating surrender. On this front, we must win. We must expand. We must, ultimately, conquer. Or we will surrender ourselves to stagnation, and ultimate decline into oblivion. With plentiful weapons and supplies flowing in from the Terranic Union, for now the Merciarians are held to a stalemate, gathering strength along the border, while we establish our new fleet HQ at Bharani. All eyes are on the far north of the galaxy...

As we speak, a Terranic fleet has crushed a sizeable merciarian fleet at Gomeisa, and looks poised to expose the enemy's flank. Our people rejoice for a moment... But it is known that the enemy has great reserves. Will we see an intervention by EC1029 out of Ashlesha? Will our peace with Aiken hold? What of the slumbering giant in the east, the Immac empire and its vast armadas??? Time will tell...

For years our empire has peacefully traded with the Kraz Republic and the United Planets of Merak. We have prospered; our economy boomed, our technology became more and more advanced, and most of all, the people were happy. The Northern Alliance prospered when the rest of the galaxy fought and suffered.

The Mighty Northern Alliance

That was until the barbaric attack on The Kraz Republic, not too long ago. The Imperial Fleets were only used for transportation and security, they were never strong enough for full-scale warfare. Although The United Planets of Merak had problems of their own, they were extremely powerful, and could hold out on their own. The Kraz Republic, however, had been weakened by internal fighting and criminal organisations, funded by the Union; they couldn't stand by themselves against the Terranic Union and their puppet, Daftpanzer. The Empire began using their huge reserves of cash to build up the Imperial fleet, and help the Republic.

The fleets were waiting for the moment to strike, and a year ago the Union managed to overrun the garrison at Ashlesha and capture the system. The mighty First Imperial Fleet set off from Pulcherrima to free the citizens of Ashlesha, and to show the Union what happens when they threaten our people with slavery. The Imperial Fleet crushed the helpless Union garrison at Ashlesha, but suffered heavy losses. A few weeks ago, the citizens of the Empire had a five minute silence to remember all the dead, who died for the people of Ashlesha and the Alliance.

The Imperial Fleet is now moving to Yed Posterior to further weaken the Terranic Union, but our scanners show a fairly large Union fleet moving towards Peacock, shortly after capturing Gomeisa. The Republic is weak after fighting on two fronts, but the Empire will save them! We will never surrender to the Tyranny of the Union, and will fight to the end to ensure that the Northern Alliance never falls! For the Empire, and the Alliance!

Just to keep the Northern Front Straight. Daft and Merciary fought each other to a stalemate, I outflanked Merciary and managed to break into some of his systems, then the Crusader managed to outflank me.

EDIT: Sorry, spoilered.

Thlayli, bombshoo and myself have now allied ourselves against Matt0088. It seems like our game will be ending shortly.

Considering how I've invited Bombshoo and Yourself to attack me, how can it not! :)

That's nice, I might actually do some myself ;)

Is it sad the main reason I want to play one of the big NP games is to be one of the other colors that are not in the free games?

Here are quite a few images I made (Yes, I'm bored) (And I know my race isn't human but just pretend it is :p):

NEWS FROM THE FRONT!
As the overpowered and stuffed Aries-Dreadnought: Ironic Victory, purportedly a Class Seven, arrives, the Atikian Imperial Fleets of EC began to flee. They barely paused to gather as many robotic wardoids (how cruel!) as they can before running with their tails between their ears to Ashlesha. However, our Triumphant Transports have set mines at the Ashlesha Delta's Orbital Junkyard, dealing the enemy many casualties, and even managed to escape. The best news is that there are no signs of reinforcement for the enemy fleets before we too reach Ashlesha.

Their fleets are rated at only classes 3 and 4, an easy fight for our Class 9, and we have another class 2, class 5, and a class 6 Battlefleets forming. The Northern Marches Front has been won, and the Generals are already planning the next offensive. All hail the Union!

There is also a rumor of a new Dreadnought forming. Dreadnoughts are an class of battlefleets which the Supercarrier itself is heavily armored, relying on its shell as additional armor. With the cleansed Aries Dreadnoughts suffering irreparable damage and reaching the limits of their modifiability (due to their large and useless intergalactic jump engines), news have come of a new Dreadnought, of the Terranic Class. All hail the Union!

Dreadnought Corps is a heavily armed spearhead of the Terranic Fleet. Able to hold hundreds of lesser ships they, alongside fragile supercarriers, are best at ship-ship combat and long battles.

Supercarrier Fleet are large, locally built shell supercarriers. Their strength and weakness is their huge storage room. However, they trade firepower and command ability. They are useful as the main force behind the spearheads, reinforcements, and the moving of our non-Jump forces.

Fighter Corps are small ships ranging from squad to battalion sized. They are the bread and butter non-jump forces and can be placed by the thousands in a Supercarrier fleet.

Marine Corps are space-soldiers armed in various powered armor specializing in space assaults on well-defended planets and enemyships. These armors include mind meld tanks, mind meld spacecraft, and direct input walkers as well as the ubiqitious Marine Armor. Are YOU worthy enough to join US, or will you join the prissy Fleet or Garrison? Their motto is DLT MOM: Designate Destination, Liberate Lifeforms, Terminate Tyrants, Move Out Marine!

Garrison Corps are technicians and ground troops. They are tired with the Fighter Corps for their prestige: rather low. However, they served well on Ashlesha with their mining procedures and surface to Orbit cannons.

merciary is defeated, Shadowbound was annihilated by Matt0088 and myself, then Thlayli, bombshoo and myself started to invade Matt0088. Now, Thlayli's invading bombshoo. Also, Thlayli finally got around to killing EQandcivfanatic. :p

Interesting, Iggy!

In our game, it seems Boundless has expanded and then, at the right moment, let herself be conquered by Aiken/Abaddon. And she had a lot of stars, too. I call this improper behaviour! Aiken is now even bigger thanks to having this sacrificial player. I advise don't let those two player together again!!

My respect to people like EC and Terrance who have had no free expansions.
