The ban was two years in the making, but the Dutch parliament has finally decided to outlaw bestiality and animal pornography.


The Dutch parliament voted unanimously Thursday to ban sex with animals and pornography depicting bestiality. Anyone breaking the law now risks being sent to jail for up to six months. Until now, Dutch law had only forbidden bestiality in cases where animal suffering was involved. By passing the ban, the Netherlands joins the ranks of 80 countries where animal pornography is explicity forbidden, Harm Evert Waalkens, the member of parliament who proposed the law, told the Associated Press. "The Netherlands has been a magnet for perversities -- and we want to stop that," Waalkens said, adding that pornographers had lobbied fiercely against a ban.

I can understand them simply wanting to keep out the weirdos, though not agree with it. Take fiftychat, for example. It pretty much allows everything, including ruining peoples' lives, but it had banned people from the room for being screwed up to the extent of actually wanting to have incest with their siblings or having sex with children. That in itself probably is justification enough for 'em.

How do you know that the animal is suffering? How do you know the animal isn't enjoying the act as. Animals try to get it on all the time too, you know?

For the record: No, I do not have sex with animals because I find it disgusting and my religion forbids it outright.

fiftychat isn't a government, though. The Netherlands should know better than to ban "weird" things that don't hurt other people, like computer-created bestiality porn.

Well, it's hard to tell unless the animal is a dolphin, considering the fact that they're the only other mammal to have sex for pleasure, IIRC, or if it was a bongabo, which have sex for pretty much everything they do.

Besides, animal suffering isn't the same as consent; legally, they can't, especially since they're not sapient. Probably telling by if they are in visible pain or something.

I heard monkeys get it on all the time, straight, gay, bi, lesbian, etc. Dogs are pretty notorious for this as well (legs, armchairs, etc.)

You might be confusing monkeys for bonobos, and they don't do it for sexual pleasure, but for stuff like:

Meh, we can argue the relevancy of this moral law all we want. It doesn't change the fact that the clear majority of people practically everywhere have a thing against it. And there are much lesser reasons to make universial bans like this.

Incidently, I do believe New Jersey (the 'armpit' state) does not have a bestiality ban. Why? Probably because no one paid our legislators enough money yet.
