The NRA, Putin and White Nationalism

I watch Rachel Maddow (right now in fact) and she's been digging into Russian financial connections to Trump. The latest bit of news being the FBI is apparently investigating The National Rifle Association. The connection seems to be Russian money pouring into the NRA's coffers for pro-Trump activity.

These are supposed to be America's uber-patriots akin to the John Birch Society and they took money from Putin and his cronies? Okay, I'm finding it curious how Trump got in bed with Putin. Not really, looks to me like Trump kept screwing banks on the loans they gave him so he had to get his cash from other sources - corrupt sources, like Russian oligarchs.

But the interesting angle to all this is how white nationalists here (and I guess there) seemingly have no problem cozying up to the Russians. Okay, Russia's mostly white - at least the part of Russia in bed with the Trumpets. On the other hand, the Chinese are...well...not white. Are 'we' trying to pry loose that alliance? Do the white nationalists here and there want a USA-Russian alliance?

To the best of my knowledge there is no Russia/China alliance, and never has been.

THe NRA is strongly in support of minorities owning firearms. That began as early as postCivil War and ensuring black Union soldiers got to keep their weapons. Here is a standard sort of gun totting article on that historical phenomena.

NK was a China satellite, NV was a Russian satellite. They didn't share. I'd guess the current "we can help with NK" rhetoric out of Putin is meant as much to antagonize China as it is anything else.

The NRA for years supported gun restrictions because they had the net effect of preventing minorities from owning them. Corporate interests captured the NRA in the 80s and it has worked on their behalf since then. They no longer care who buys their guns, just that they are bought.

Cassius knows this and is deliberately and clumsily flipping the narrative to goad us.

Next we ask for sources and he posts something that clearly and obviously proves the opposite of whatever he said.



China and Russia supported other communist countries but hated each other viciously. They actually did go to war briefly in the 60s and we're at each other's throats always.

Hence Nixon going to China to get them in our corner. It helped isolate the USSR even more than they already were and strengthened their mortal enemy which distracted them from us.

That seems weird to me, NK is on Russia's border and Vietnam is on China's. On the other hand that might make sense, China and Vietnam dont get along too well and I understand the Chinese did not like it when the Viets went in to finish off Pol Pot's regime. Maybe its more of a triangle between the 3 powers.

Ermmmmm...NK borders China, not Russia. Viet Nam does border China also, but it was Russia that they turned to when they were "decolonializing" because they had zero trust for China.

Yeah China invaded Vietnam after they pushed out the murderous Pol Pot. They seemed to have forgotten that Vietnam had just won a war against a superpower and a string of second tier countries.

I heard somewhere recently Gov Reagan quickly signed into law more gun restrictions in California back in the 60s after the Black Panthers showed up (at the capital?) packing heat... The NRA wasn't raising much Cain when southern states were passing restrictions on guns because blacks were buying them for protection against the KKK.

Remember Randy Weaver of Ruby Ridge notoriety? The ATF got him in trouble by getting him to sell them a sawed-off shotgun, they even showed him where to cut the barrel. But he did it supposedly because he thought the gun was being sold to black people and he wanted them to kill each other, or something like that. I can see white NRA members promoting gun ownership among black people, not out of any principle, but to promote more bloodshed.

Baloney. The largest supporter of gun control are the Democrats. Their first initiative was to remove rifles from black Union soldiers. Every time the Democrat urban centers enact more gun control, the murder and crime rates go up.

It is an insidious violation of the 2nd Amendment that typically targets minorities.

What did Malcolm X say? He thought every black man should buy a firearm and know how to use it. Makes sense to me as the police investigate crimes after the victims suffer.

On the other hand, if you want to be oppressed by the Man, then don't exercise your Constitutional rights and be passive.
