Ironically, the owners of GATTACA don't appear to be currently protecting their copyright. At some point, we can just assume they've consented. How do we know when they have?
You probably know this, but Rand Paul is not accused of using anything related to Gattaca copyright, but merely of having sentences in his speech very similar to the Wiki article on the description of that film, while exactly making a clear allusion to that film.
Might as well have accused one of using wiki for the birth and death date of Einstein or something.
