I will look into it presently - I promise I will get you an answer.
I'm eagerly expecting it.
Remeber the Roman Military Maxim: "Come back with your shield, or on it"
I'm older than you, boy, but not quite old enough to remember life in the Roman army!

I can never hope to change your minds - so what the heck am I doing here?

First, you're coming here and talking about something you know nearly nothing about, and then trying to convince us that we're wrong. You can see how that would be an uphill battle. You couldn't do that to an engineer, or a calculus professor, or a doctor - because these experts know much more about their topic than you do. It would be like me telling you that you drive to school in an inefficient manner - I know nothing of something you know a great deal about

Are you trying to change my mind?

At first we were trying to refute your positions. Now we're merely trying to educate you a little about the really weak arguments against evolution.

Nearly nothing? Why of course - why else would I be here other than to learn more about how daft evolution is...

I laugh in your face if you think the arguements against evolution are weak. I am currently finding more about them through reading and watching DVDs, so i will have more arguements shortly.

I only mean that some of the arguments are weak. Some arguments could be considered much stronger. However, to understand the stronger arguments requires much more education than you have.

Do you know what I mean? I mean no offense. Just like there are weak and strong arguments against God's existence. To understand the stronger arguments requires some education. I mean no offense.

Are you bound and determined to disprove evolution? Or are you just trying to test it?

What does that have to do with anything? There isn't one (or rather, I wouldn't know).

I should have some stronger arguements by thursday this week because I should have finished the book on evolution I am reading by then and i will have watched a DVD on it. Look forward to it - I am.

You still won't have strong arguments. Those DVDs and books and whatever are rehashing the same tired, flawed arguments against evolution that have been refuted hundreds of times, including on this very thread.

You understand that we've refuted the weaker ones, though, right?

Mutation can lead to information gain.
Beautiful and complex things can occur by chance (snowflakes)
Humans didn't descend from apes, but are 'cousins' to apes.

If it can, that's what the link to theculture.org is there for. We'd have FTL communication if gravity propagated that fast.

Who else is for creation on this thread?

Quasar1011 and Classic Hero, but that's about it. We mostly accept the validity of evolution - there are more theistic evolutionists (like me) than creationists, even.

If Americans came over from Europe all those Hundreds of years ago - then why are Europeans still around????

LOL I'm a sucker for a good line.

One day they might find the missing link between Americans and Europeans. Only then will I believe evolution.

Are we picking teams? Quasar and Classical Hero believe in creation and have brought forward much better evidence than you that evolution is wrong. Funnily enough, they seem to copy from the same sources, but ignore our refutations.

There are other people here who believe in Jesus (and are Christians) who don't believe that Creationism occured. They believe in Jesus, not things written by Jews about Moses.

That makes no sense. It makes no sense to evolve to be half-American and half-European. Anybody who is half-European would be dead, because you need your whole body :crazyeye:

Can't gravity's effects propagate at the speed of light?

Just as an FYI (in case there was a confusion) The "effect of gravity" (or more precisely changes in the curvature of space time) propagates at the speed of light.

So if the Sun would suddenly cease to exist then a clock that was where the sun was would see the earth going out of its orbit about 8 minutes later.

Edit: As an aside I commend you guys (El_machine, TLC, Samson and others) with the patience that you guys are showing over here. :goodjob:
