as a matter of fact I have already been into politics
(but only on a regional level and I've decided to quit it at least for the moment)
but yeah, in the game with Prussia I made some almost Bismarckian moves. I signed defensive pacts with all the major players (France, England, Russia) and then turned on them one by one, always prefaced with getting everyone else to stop trading (or cancel def-pacts) with them
The Prussian Tanks are really, really cool (leadership!!) and help a lot with UHV1-goal (I think I had 4 GG and 3 random GP in Berlin) but in the end, drafting was at least as important. I don't know if it would have gone quite as well with SVN 621

This is a really, really weird game.
I am playing the Mayans and when Christianity swept over the New World I was...scared. Catholic Temples didn't give any hammers. And the first global congress was in 1610!.
However...

Domination with the Mayans seems really, really tough.
In tech trades the AI always wants much more valuable techs (maybe due to the UP? ), the core is really, really tiny and you're behind in tech almost the entire game. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it.

i managed to nap it by the 1500's. and because my relationship scores with almost everyone was neutral(having only met most a few turns before.), i was elected pope...
how do you get yourself elected pope as the Inca, when only newly minted Catholics? Only used it to end a war with Poland. also meant catholic russians.
